My first time here, I can't believe I've never been to this great old time diner. I loved the dated interior and small counter they have, even a tucked in nook by the wall mural. Service was great, told to sit anywhere and promptly given menus. We couldn't decide between breakfast and lunch so we got one of each. My friend got the Phoenix sandwich with fries. I like that you can choose from 4 different sides of fries, soup, salad or fruit. She loved her sandwich and she is a sandwich aficionado. I had the eggs Benedict with hash browns. I asked for them on biscuits instead of English muffins, no problem. They were served with a huge single thick slice of ham that covered both biscuits and eggs. They don't skimp on the hollendaise either, these were the best eggs Benedict I've had in a long time. Eggs were cooked perfectly as well. I'll definitely come back for these. This was a nice old time diner that I enjoyed a quick lunch at while in town on business. You feel like you're transported back in time with how the features have been reserved, but not in a run down way. The servers were quick to get me seated, watered and waited on. We love this little place. The French toast was very good and very buttery. I wasn't a fan of the pancakes, but the littles loved them. I've never seen my middle son eat so fast so that has to count for something. They greeted us at the door and allowed us to sit wherever we wanted. The waitress was very sweet, but I didn't even think to catch her name. She was very helpful and helped us save money with having 4 hungry boys with us. We originally were going to go to another restaurant, but the wait was 30 minutes so we signed up and went for a stroll only to find this restaurant and we decided to try it. It was okay, it seemed to lack a bit of flavor and the gravy need a bit of salt. Pretty much standard diner. The coffee tastes like Farmer Bros. so it is just okay. My server was prompt since I sat at the counter to order. I don't recall that she mentioned any specials, eh. The restaurant needs a refresh. it is spacious with two rooms to sit in. This place is horrible. I came after not coming for years, I think last time I gave it 3 stars and it's definitely has declined. The food was horrible! The menus have no details. My wife ordered a turkey club sandwich, it was literally some turkey and a slice of a chile relleno?? It was a very sad and gross sandwich. For myself I ordered a traditional breakfast plate and spit out the eggs of how disgusting they were. The texture and lack of flavor was horrible. We didn't even eat. The service was probably worst than the food. The ladies do not want you to ask questions, they are in a hurry to get you in and out. I had lunch today at Dudley's. Super casual cafe serving simple breakfast and lunch items. I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. A good amount of l/t/o that added freshness to the burger. The fries were the standout. They were crispy and seasoned well. Our server was an all star. She handled a revolving 8-10 tables, as well as to-go orders that were phoned in. She also was the cashier. All accomplished in a timely fashion, and with a smile. Never appeared flustered. Amazing! I went to Dudley's yesterday for the first time at the recommendation of a friend. The bacon avocado burger is, I think, the best burger that I've had. The ingredients were fresh and the burger assembled in a way that you could taste everything. The patty was cooked perfectly. There's also a "salsa"-ish hot sauce that they make themselves there. I wished they sold it separately so that I could buy it and take it home. You can put that stuff on anything. Try it with their fries! My 6 year old son (pictured) got the Phoenix, which is one of their hot sandwiches with turkey, bacon, etc. He could only finish half of it so I ate the other half, and boy I'm glad I did... For somebody who doesn't get all that excited about "turkey anything", I must say that sandwich is superb. The turkey was juicy and (again) I could taste all the ingredients in there. The people there serving were friendly, accommodating and the food came out fast. I heard they've been around for a while, so it makes sense that they know what they're doing. Since I live in Alameda, I'm trying to find an excuse to get back down there so I can try their country fried steak, which my friend also suggested to me, since he knows I'm big on breakfast food. read more

A great breakfast spot in Salinas. It seems to be a city favorite. The staff are helpful, nice & friendly. I went with the chicken fried steak plate. The chicken fried steak & gravy were really yummy. And it was the perfect ratio between the two. I've had this dish at other places that give too much or too little gravy, but they got it correct here. The show stealer here are definitely the fries & ranch. The ranch was perfect. I LOOOVE A good hamburger and I guarantee you this place is it. I've been going here with my sister since like high school collaboration days. Their breakfast is always very yummy and tastes homegrown. I love their quiche and my nephew always gets their French toast. Service is always AMAZING!
