The restaurant is actually pretty nice and the servers were polite. I think this place must be a local favorite as they were pretty busy. The food here is a fusion between Filipino type ingredients and American breakfast. Those familiar enough with Filipino food has to know that it is going to be oily, salty, sweet, heavy, and rich in flavor. That's exactly what we got. The longanisa must be a favorite at the restaurant but it wasn't my favorite. It's a little too lean to be an authentic longanisa. I needed the fatty sweetness of it. Lol. Both the pork itself and the sauce were sweeter than I expected. The fried rice as well was disappointing. It was neither Filipino style for breakfast (sinangag) or a typical Chinese fried rice. It was an Americanized heavy-on-the-butter style. When it comes to viewing with a Filipino lens, it was a bit boring. I dont mind twists on Filipino food. There's plenty of it and plenty I've enjoyed, including on my numerous trips to the motherland. Unfortunately, the ones here were a bit underwhelming. The gravy wasn't my favorite, but everyone has a preference on their breakfast gravy, I'd prefer more salt and heavier on the pepper. Lumpia was alright, assuming it was deep fried because it was soaked in oil. Ground beef and bean sprouts, so a fairly traditional mix, not the skinny Shanghai ones. The meat patty was really big and the gravy was rich and flavorful without feeling greasy or heavy. You can choose from a variety of gravies (if I remember correctly: onion, chorizo, mushroom). We were 5 mins away and I was able to add us on there, so we were able to skip the wait; however there was a small issue with check in. When we walked in, I received a text that we were next in line and to check in with the host, so I did. I like how the menu includes both Filipino breakfast and traditional breakfast. We ordered the Filipino breakfast and the Colorado Omelet. The Colorado omelet included diced ham, potatoes, onions, cheese, which almost resembles sisig. It was bursting with juicy flavor and paired well with the triangle shaped hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy in the outside and soft in the inside. The Filipino breakfast was just okay. The longanisa has good flavor and was cut fileted, but it just did not taste like the traditional longanisa I'm used to. The spam and fried egg was good, but it's hard to mess up spam. I normally order from The Butter House because they're open at 6:00am, which is perfect since I get to work really early. I really appreciate having a local option that's available at that hour, makes mornings easier. I recently tried their breakfast sandwich. You can choose bacon, ham, sausage, or turkey, and eggs scrambled, over medium, or over hard. I ordered mine with scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. The eggs came more in an omelet-style fold rather than truly scrambled, which wasn't a big deal, just not what I was expecting. The turkey sausage is where I felt a little underwhelmed. It seemed like a basic store-bought link placed whole on the sandwich. For a local establishment, I personally love when ingredients feel more house-prepared or thoughtfully executed. Even chopping and browning the sausage and mixing it into the eggs would have made it feel more cohesive and elevated. It also comes with their house aioli. While I appreciate a house-made sauce, I'm not sure this particular aioli paired the best with the sandwich. Presentation-wise, everything felt layered on and boxed up quickly. I ended up reheating it in my toaster oven to crisp it up and bring it together more. I'll still support them because I love having an early local option- and I love the pancakes. We decided to have a family breakfast and brunch here at the butter house when we were doing our little weekend getaway in Monterey and Capitola. The food was great, and the restaurant was busy and bustling and loud (but in the way I like). All the food was great. I had the California Benedict and it was delicious. I usually don't really like runny eggs, but Eggs Benedict has been becoming a favorite of mine. My family also really loved their food and the coffee was delicious as well. All the staff were very nice and it didn't really feel like we were waiting too long for anything whether that was for someone to take our order or for the food itself. Waiting a little bit is obviously inevitable and it didn't feel excessive.
