So on the last day of my 36 hour Monterey golf trip, the boys and I needed a breakfast spot before we teed off and they mentioned to me this bomb Filipino breakfast spot and I just knew we had to check it out. We headed to The Butter House on Fremont Blvd, in Seaside. The parking at this lot was substantial as they share a lot with a few other businesses-so that was great. When we arrived it was a large room with many customers. There was no wait for our party of 6 due to the size of the restaurant with many tables in the room. Once I took a look at their menu,I was a bit overwhelmed with the sheer volume of choices but I decided to try something I would truly love,as I'm not overly familiar with Filipino breakfast items, but what Ive had so far I've truly loved. I went with Marciana's Breakfast Fried Rice ($16.50) and a single lumpia($3.05) The lumpia was just super delicious-it featured ground beef, onions, carrots, green beans, bean sprouts, and was served with a sweet chili sauce on the side. It's a great item,as many in my group ordered them and some even ordered extra to bring home. Now the fried rice dish featured butter fried rice with bacon, sausage,& ham,It also included soy sauce, onions, garlic and topped with two eggs served over-hard. I loved this dish so much that it's irritating. I'm irritated because I know this menu is full of banger items too, but I may never find out because I can't imagine ordering anything else--that's how much I enjoyed this dish In closing, if you ever find yourself in the Monterey area and want to try an awesome Filipino breakfast--get down to The Butter House-their quality is super high.

I was in the area for a girl's trip. And this place popped out to me as I was looking for something tasty for breakfast. This place definitely satisfied my breakfast craves. We got the Marciana's breakfast fried rice. It was absolutely delicious. The perfectly cooked spam with the savory fried rice hit the spot. The pork belly fried rice was amazing. The pork belly was crispy and tender. The lemon curd and blueberry pancakes were yummy. The lemon curd is house made and it was sweet and creamy. The service was good. The ambience provides a spacious breakfast vibe. It can get packed quite quickly. This is a must breakfast place if you are in the area.

Delicious Filipino breakfast. I had the eggs and fried rice since I don't eat meat but it was delicious and I enjoyed my watermelon mimosa. Big portions and staff was friendly and attentive. Food tasted fresh and authentic. My husband enjoyed his meal and so did everyone at the table. Would eat here again

Hey there Party People The Butter House is a place that is unassuming and has that neighborhood diner feel. It should be featured on Guy Fiery's "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" The place is always packed so we joined the "wait list" online while we were driving in When we got to the restaurant we only had to wait 5 minutes. Our waiter Cesar was great, very personable as well as efficient. The food came out quickly and was paced well since we had an appetizer. Started with the Lumpia which is basically a Philippino style egg roll. Super delicious and very large so you only need to order one trust me. I had the Carne Asada Fried rice. Their Verde sauce was nice and tangy. The meat was seasoned very well and there was a ton of it on the rice. I great dish I would order again. Hubby had the French Dip sandwich. He said the bun was nice and soft and the sandwich was wonderful. The meat was very lean, which he is very picky about. The fries were off the hook just crunchy enough and not over salted. If you're in Monterey and looking for a great breakfast to get your day started this is the place to go. Be kind to one another

I was visiting the area and came here for brunch on a Tuesday. I was looking forward to try their garlic rice as it was suggested while using AI. The food was okay but my pork belly fried rice was too salty. It wasn't the rice that was salty; it was the pork belly. The lumpia was okay as well. For me, I felt that it missed the mark as filipino cuisine. I'm willing to try again but for the American breakfast.

It's a bit tough to describe this place. Overall, I'd consider the experience positive with some important things to note. This place does breakfast, and the American side of the menu which I got to taste, was executed well. I'd go back for that. For those curious about the Filipino aspect, I wouldn't have high expectations. Their lumpia wasn't super special. Compared to the thousands of lumpia I've had in the US and across the world, they were just OK. For the price they were charging per piece, I wasn't the biggest fan. They didnt blow me away in flavor. They were also a bit burnt/ over fried for my liking. I also ordered the pork belly fried rice. Definitely Filipino inspired, with the adobo inspired sauce. Both the pork itself and the sauce were sweeter than I expected. The fried rice as well was disappointing. It was neither Filipino style for breakfast (sinangag) or a typical Chinese fried rice. It was an Americanized heavy-on-the-butter style. When it comes to viewing with a Filipino lens, it was a bit boring. I dont mind twists on Filipino food. There's plenty of it and plenty I've enjoyed, including on my numerous trips to the motherland. Unfortunately, the ones here were a bit underwhelming. I'd go back here for the amazing staff and limiting myself to the American traditional breakfast. For those hoping for a Filipino breakfast that shares more authentic flavors, I'd keep very low expectations.

This is an amazing amazing wonderful place to eat pricing is well it is a little bit high but then come to think of it it's more than reasonable portions are pretty generous diffusion Filipino American Mexican is perfect it just tastes so good you won't go wrong with any dish I think our large party ordered one of every different item and we shared I had a suggestion that they offer some type of Ube dessert to pay homage but they do have a variety of cakes for dessert parking can be challenging and street parking is also available

    Croissant sandwich with Longganisa. Yummmm

My boyfriend and I were looking for something quick to eat for breakfast on our way back home, so I placed an order for scheduled pickup. We got the croissant sandwich with the longganisa substitute, and it was sooooo delicious. It was pretty filling and came with crispy potatoes. Next time I'm in the area, I'm definitely going to dine in.

Came here before hitting Monterey Bay Aquarium. Wait time on a Saturday morning was from 30min to an hour. The food here is really good. Love the pancakes is probably one of the best dishes they have. The rice as well is good wish they would just add more veggies, and it would be a solid 10/10. However, good flavor overall, and good service.

Shrimp and grits with a mimosa.
    Zerica M.

The shipping and grits were delicious and I loved that they have a wide variety of mimosa flavors during brunch. I had the peach bellini and my friend had the lavendar mimosa which were very good. The service was great also.

Saved the best meal for last. My wife kept asking where we were going to eat before the long drive home. After some searching, I came across Butter House and man, this place was a hit. I got the Pork Belly Fried Rice and it was amazing. The pork belly was tender and came with a sour vinegar sauce that paired perfectly with it. Ask for extra sauce. My wife got the Lemon Curd Pancakes and we shared Marciana's Breakfast Fried Rice. Both were excellent. The lumpia was a little greasy, but still tasty. My daughter got the pancakes and immediately gave them a thumbs up. By the end of breakfast, both my wife and daughter were giving me kudos for picking the spot. Doesn't happen often, so I'll take the win. Great food, great service, and the perfect way to end our trip before the drive home. We'll definitely be back.

Lemon Curd and Blueberry pancakes. So delicious and sells out quickly.

The food is always great along with the service. It's big and open, it fills up quickly.

We really enjoyed our breakfast at The Butter House. Cozy ambiance and the staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The menu offers a great blend of classic American breakfast with a Filipino twist. Also loved the butter theme because who doesn't love butter. They have cute stickers and apparel. "You're my butter half" stickers are too cute. I had the breakfast burrito- I'm vegetarian, and they were so thoughtful to swap in avocado and mushrooms instead of meat, absolutely delicious! The breakfast potatoes hit the spot. My friend had the pork belly fried rice and loved it. A satisfying meal to fuel a day of exploring Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey Bay. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

As we are walking to our car, one of the workers comes out running to us and asked us to pay for the drinks that we didn't even fully drink, we had taken a few sips when we saw the roach. The audacity these people had to even ask us to pay for two drinks that were barely touched after having a roach crawling through their restaurant is ridiculous. We didn't want to cause any trouble with the existing customers that the business had which is why we left quietly the first time, but for them to chase after us as we are leaving demanding we pay for two drinks was shocking considering the situation. This picture of the roach doesn't even do justice to how big it was. It almost seemed so normal to the staff with the presence of a roach.

But you're totally open to roam in here from the street. Next time I'm in this area, I'm definitely gonna make time to chill on that patio. When we arrived they had a small parking lot but busy because they do a lot of Door Dash and Uber Eats business. Once inside I took a quick look at the menu and saw they had breakfast burritos of either Chorizo-Sausage-Ham-Bacon or Veggie. I chose Chorizo breakfast burrito($10.39) The shop is run by the owner-he was the cashier and the cook. In talking to him,he was telling me that his family owns multiple Mexican small shops like this in the Juarez Mexico area and El Paso Texas area.Says that all the shops use the same recipe for their hot sauce that is served with the burritos. Once the burrito arrived,it was both heavy and warm.Once I cut it open,I was able to appreciate the craftsmanship of this burrito in all its chorizo, egg, potato and cheese glory-it was beautiful. As pretty as it was though,it tasted even better,I had planned on only eating half of it as I had a tee time in less than an hour but one bite led to another and then it was gone. I've had many breakfast burritos in my day and as unexpected as this is to say, this may have been the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. At the time I stopped in, it was very quiet compared to previous trips, with no waiting to order and our pick of seats. I ordered a Ham Breakfast Burrito to try something different and it was fantastic. The tortilla had a nice char on it before being wrapped around the plentiful ham, potatoes, egg and cheese in its swaddling embrace. Each bite was fresh and flavorful, even beforr adding some of the house made salsa, which added an even bigger burst of flavor and some heat. I ate 1/2 on site, and rewrapped the other half and enjoyed that while at the golf course.

Then she asked if I wanted lettuce with it. Sure, okay. I've never ordered this sandwich before and thought I would try something different. She asked which two sides did I want with it. I told her the menu board said it came with salad. It sounded like she thought I was ordering a shawarma plate, which maybe does come with sides dishes. A man behind the counter spoke loudly to her (and me?) saying the sandwich doesn't have lettuce. I don't know how they make their sandwiches; she just asked if a I wanted lettuce. He seemed very irritated about a few pieces of lettuce in the sandwich. He asked me did I order a classic? I pointed to the item on the menu and read what it said the ingredients consisted of. He loudly stated that's a classic! Okay. It's classic. Fine. He took over making the sandwich. The woman rang me up. I felt sorry for her, having to work for someone who behaves so aggressively to an employee and a customer. I paid and was happy to leave and will not be returning. I feel badly for the woman. It's possible she was a new employee and maybe not fully familiar with the menu. Nobody should have to endure that kind of treatment.
