First time in and we had the best experience! We didn't make reservations and it was a PACKED Saturday afternoon! We got a cute little area for two with the perfect photo op background. Lauren was pouring for us and she was absolutely wonderful. They were doing a wine and chocolate paining as well as a wine cheese pairing. I went with the cheese pairing and it was insanely good! Who doesn't love wine and cheese?! Lauren was excellent at explaining the wines as well as the pairings. We also got to meet Ken and talk wonderful stories with him which was so incredible and made our first visit so memorable. The last wine we were able to taste out of the barrel! We discovered this great winery a couple years ago when we visited the Old Sugar Mill. We are very impressed. Their Italian varietals are so delicious. Ashley and the others always welcome us. There are several very good wineries at the Old Sugar Mill, but the wines at Due Vigne are consistently outstanding. We've been a member for a few years and we always look forward to an opportunity to stop by and enjoy wine in their friendly atmosphere. Stopped in here while at the Old Sugar Mill to partake in the wine and chocolate pairing. They change it for the season so these chocolates were fall inspired. We really enjoyed all the pairing and the bite of sweet and the super comfortable wing back chairs. Due Vigne had a lot of local wines that we hadn't tried before including a Vermintino. It was interesting to taste how the chocolate changes the flavor of the wine. I ended up really liking a few of the reds because of the pairing. If you want to have someone (her name is Ashley) speak to you like you're a child and demean you.. this is the place to go! My group and I attempted to get a table and were told it would be a short wait (which we of course were fine with). More than 30-40 minutes later, I got a call saying our table was ready. Less than 5 minutes later, I called back and I was told they gave our table away. They reasoning was that "we were not fast enough" to get our spot. Which was not something disclosed to us... what establishment requires you there in that amount of time while on the waiting list? We went back to the tasting room and were told very aggressively it was our fault we weren't faster and we just needed to get over it. We came in for a friend's birthday. We were served by 1 particular server. She poured us our first round of tastings & everything was fine. It had been a while and we were ready for our next round and the server was still chatting it up with the table next to us, which was evident by the conversation that she knew them. We waited a while then eventually flagged her down to ask for our next round, to which she responded verbatim, "I'll get to you after this conversation." Extremely rude if you ask me, but we let it go. The server must've found us annoying for flagging her down in the middle of a personal conversation, because a different lady served us for the rest of our tastings. My husband and I walked in, saw that the employee was talking to other customers. We patiently waited without any acknowledgement. A few minutes later another couple came in with a live CHICKEN. The employee looked at us and then gave their entire attention to the person with the CHICKEN with so much excitement and enthusiasm. Again no acknowledgment to us. We turned and walked out. We spent a recent Saturday at the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg. It is a great venue for wine tasting. There are over 10 wineries in one location to choose from. Tastings at each winery typically cost $10 for a selection of 5-6 wines. We tried a few of the wineries with mixed results. Our last stop was at Due Vigne Winery. They specialize in Italian style wines. I have been typically disappointed by California grown and produced Italian style wines. They miss capturing the true Italian styles. The Due Vigne wines were a very pleasant surprise. All the wines we tasted were excellent. We did learn that they grow and source their grapes at higher altitudes that more closely copy the conditions of the different wine regions in Italy. Shelly was a super host. The setting and ambience for last night event was breath taking for wine the pick up members. They set us up in a room and describe each bottle that we get along with sampling each bottle and pairing each wine with the hors d oeuvres and desserts. Impressive set up with exotic floral setting along with a menu that describe the hors d oeuvres and what they where. Hats off to Due Vigne! I am very proud to be a member and will continue to support this winery. The staff there are remarkably amazing and knowing the knowledge of the of wine they really do treat you like family there. They don't disclose that once you join, you and your credit card are locked in to buying wine that's not that great. It's ok. For at least 12 months or more. Not sure how you get out of their wine club once you give them access to your credit card. I joined thinking it was ran as other wineries are. Honest, legit letting their wine and customer service keep you coming back. When I joined I understood I needed to at least purchase my first shipment. I even paid cash and picked up my first shipment that day. I called to stop my membership, I was told to send a note by e mail to confirm my request. Later when I got a note my shipment was ready for pickup, I sent another note confirming I had called and sent a note that I wasn't interested in staying a member. Their wine is not for me. I received a note stating I could not quit and they demanded another credit card to charge. I didn't agree I agreed to being forced into staying a member of a wine club I didn't like the wine and now the not so great customer service was really making me feel that this business is having issues and it's not for me! They charged my new credit card that I didn't authorize them to do, now I am into my third month of fighting to get out of their club. I highly recommend you run, don't walk away from this business. With all the other wonderfully ran wineries in our area that don't force feed their product to you, pick other winery, if you do buy wine from this place ONLY use cash DO NOT give them a credit card or join their wine club. It's a hotel California, you can check in, you just don't get to leave!! After I received their comment about having to join for a year, I did fine that info on their web site, wished they directed you to their web site to understand that before they take your credit card info at the winery. They should read their own cancellation policy. Make sure you've got this tasting room on your checklist if you happen to be at the Old Sugar Mill. Or do as I do and just go around to all of them! The more wine the merrier! D.V.'s Frizzante is the reason you need to get over to this tasting room. Their Frizzante is the perfect summer wine to quench your thirst and cool you off! It's D.V.'s take on a Muscato that carries that fruit-forward style with a spritzy spunk to it, without being too sweet. You aren't going to find this unique wine just anywhere because it's produced specially by D.V. It's great for a party, a picnic, or just a night at home! Warning, it's easy to polish off a bottle, so plan accordingly! Other perks of this spot include knowledgeable and friendly staff and other tasty wines. Simply put- these are terrific people offering great wine at exceptional prices and anytime you combine that trio you can count me in. We've been here a handful of times now and each time the experience keeps getting better. I won't bore you with sophisticated wine talk but I will tell you that I know good people when I see them and I know when something tastes good in a glass. Meet Due Vigne Di Famiglia, a small winery owned and operated by two retired firefighters who seem to have a deep passion for making wine and it's apparent in every glass. The tasting room is classy and unpretentious and the staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and always fun. They're engaging and they remember you, each time you return you're greeted with a meaningful "welcome back". You might think it's simply a clever way to greet someone until a few moments later when he picked up our conversation right where we had left off the previous visit. The tasting itself offers a number of their Italian varietals such as a Frizzante that's big on the fruit but not overly sweet. Or the Nebbiolo that has a really nice balance of spice and berries and my personal favorite the Rosso, their Italian and French blend that makes an excellent table wine or everyday drinker. Whether it's whites, reds, full bodies or light bodies there's not a bad wine here and we have yet to leave without purchasing less than half of a case. Overall, Due Vigne Di Famiglia is certainly unique because it's in a wine culture that can be conceited and pretentious but you'll never find an ego here. They create an environment that's never intimidating and they make strangers feel like family so for those reasons alone I will continue to support their success one bottle at a time. read more

This is my favorite tasting room in Old Sugar Mill, hands down. The first time my bf and I came here, we had the most wonderful experience. The person pouring for us (forgive me I cannot recall his name) was so friendly, so engaging, and so knowledgeable about the wines that we assumed he was the owner or one of them. Turns out, he just loves and cares about the wine. He answered every question we had and even took us on an impromptu tour in the back to check out the barrels and talk to us about their process. It was a slower day so we were the only patrons in there for a little bit, so it could have been a fluke, but no. We have come back in large groups, on a busy day, and have received the same amazing service. That is exactly what I look for when I'm going wine tasting. Great wine and someone friendly who knows about what they are pouring into my glass. There are a few staff at other tasting rooms in OSM who should definitely take a lesson or two from the staff at Due Vigne. As for the wines... EXCEPTIONAL. The Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Rosso are all my faves (yes I have three, shhh). I'm usually not a fan whatsoever of sweet and/or white wines, but we have a bottle of Frizzante waiting at home that I cannot wait to crack open and share. This place is outstanding. 4.5 stars? Nope. My wife has been a club member of Due Vigne for many years and only just recently cancelled. Wine is fine. It's very good actually, BUUTTT. Then they went and changed their customer service structure with their new multiple club levels. We were a little peeved at first but decided to stay on and not get the second membership. When they Used to be one club membership that exposed you to their whole menu, but now they have the "vinter" club membership and those that joined the original club membership are now limited in their options. That's not what we signed up for, so we made the choice to cancel. It seems like they're trying to bring Napa to Sacramento, but if you're like me and most Sacramentans, that's not why you go to the Sugar Mill. As more of a beer lover than a wine lover I am used to a very friendly and welcoming level of service. Breweries love to share stories about their beer and will talk you up about the beer making process. I've found, in my own experience, wineries tend to be a little bit more reserved and snobby (for lack of a better word). Here though there weren't any pretenses or looking down the nose because you weren't a hardcore wine person. I want to say it was Ron who was serving us and he as an absolute delight. He was very talkative, friendly, and made us feel vey welcomed. My fiance talked to him about wine, the wine making process, and many other subjects related to wine and brewing (we brew beer at home). While we aren't super sophisticated wine tasters he made sure that we felt welcomed. The wine itself was also really good. Again, I'm no wine expert, but I enjoyed everything they poured for us. My fiance even liked their white wines, and he doesn't like white wine normally. We purchased a bottle of Rosso to go with our dinner that night. It went beautifully with the stew we had. They waive the tasting fee if you buy a bottle of wine, and I think that applied to the two tastings we got. SUPERB service, EXCELLENT wine, and a hit with all of us. If you're a sports fan, maybe you'd like it because they play the football game with the volume up, but I don't really like to hear commercials and tv noise when I'm relaxing and tasting wine. They charge a $5 tasting fee for about 5 samples. The wines were not extraordinary. Overall, the experience they provided was really not all that great.
