The grounds were very beautiful and the tasting area was very cozy and inviting. We've driven by this winery several times and have been meaning to try it! The gentleman who gave us our first tasting didn't explain to us anything about the wine. We didn't know what it was nor were we given a menu of the tastings. Finally, someone came to our table asking if we've received a menu. She actually served us the rest of our tastings. The pours were a bit limited and the wines were ok. We enjoyed listening and dancing to "Midnight Flyer" here. The entertainment gardens are absolutely beautiful and the sunsets are spectacular! Nothing like such a beautiful winery AND smooth sultry wines in their collection offering. We loved (and bought) the Tempranillo, Red Blend and Chardonnay) the distinctive flavors here which immediately reminded us of European wines. We saw this place and it looked pretty cool and decided to check it out. There was plenty of parking which was surprising for a Sunday. We walked in and there was two people at the tasting bar and four people sitting at a table on the patio. My wife looked around inside and I sat on the patio, which is a really nice open air patio. My wife sat down and we just waited. There was only one guy working and he did not even acknowledge us when we walked in. The two people at the bar left. We continue to wait and he was just doing things behind the bar, not acknowledging us at all, going back into another room and then coming out a few times. He looked at my wife but still nothing. Finally, my wife asked if he ignoring us and he just said "Oh I did not see you." Right. He didn't see us. Six people in the place and he didn't see us. We have no idea how the wine was, because we got up and left. If it was busy, I can understand maybe not seeing someone, but it was dead. What a disappointment. read more

I hosted my friend's bridal shower here in May and they made it so easy. We were able to set up fifteen minutes before the event in the space we reserved that is off to the side which offers privacy. I called Miner's Leap on a Tuesday or Wednesday to reserve a spot. They were closed but by Thursday evening they called back and I was able to reserve a table. Before reserving I had to make sure to ask if they're kid friendly, with Covid going on and all, and they are! I reserved for 4 adults and 5 children up by the "hill". This place isn't hard to find coming from north bound, there's a pretty big sign that directs you to the winery and parking areas. There was a good amount of parking spots and open space. The area we were seated at was next to an open lawn area so the kids were able to run freely. There was no wine tasting due to covid but they did offer outdoor seating, flights of wine, 5- 2.5 oz pours, glasses, or bottles. You can also bring your own food to eat and there was also live music from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The service here is excellent! We were always checked up on and made sure that we were doing fine. The kids each got to get an otter pop, which I thought was so nice of them to do. About the wine.. I'm a red wine drinker but... the whites here were amazing. My favorite was the Delta Breeze which was a white blend if Chardonnay and something else. It was refreshing and had a fruit/citrusy taste to it. My visit to Miner's Leap Winery was for a 30th birthday party for a friend. My boyfriend grew up in the East Bay, but I am a Reno native--meaning I don't know much about the more niche areas of California. We were both pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the Delta just popping up out of nowhere so close to Sacramento. We were grateful to celebrate with friends at this hidden gem of a winery/venue that could give some wineries in the "wine country" a run for their money. We arrived before the birthday girl, so we took our time to explore all of the areas of this venue. I was impressed with how many different patios, grassy areas, and sitting areas there were through the grounds. The party was actually held in a reserved area that had some orange trees and grape vines around the perimeter for privacy. Plenty of tables and seats for the 20-25 birthday-celebrators were already setup for the party. I was glad that some umbrellas were brought down part way through the event which basically shaded the entire area. There was not drink service for our group, but the bar wasn't far away. I was a little worried about how the bar service would be because we were not the only group on-site. However, the bartenders were fantastic! Everyone had such an enthusiastic attitude and were knowledgeable about their wine. Many of us had never tasted (or even heard about) Miner's Leap. Honestly, I was also shocked by the affordability of the prices. A bottle of delicious Rosé Pinot Nior was about $25-and it was well worth the purchase! There is no food available, but the hosts of the party were able to bring some hors d'ouvres. While I was very gracious for the self-provided snacks, it would have been nice if a local food truck had been invited to be present for all customers. On a Saturday afternoon it seems like that could be worthwhile for both the food truck and the winery. I'll keep this winery in mind if I am ever planning a group function in the area. Great place! Went for the music, but LOVED the wine! The venue is large enough to host big weddings and such, but there's smaller areas within for more intimate events. I was drinking the Miner's Leap Oak Chardonnay, knowing full well the region is known for its reds, but it was good for me on a warm night. My friends, however, chose the reds and raved about them! When I return, I'll definitely sample their red wine! And the music was fantastic! Cover band "Overdryve" played. They started out mellow and as the evening progressed, ramped it up. Made for a fantastic evening! Overall, Miner's Leap is an excellent venue. It's about a 90 minute drive for me, otherwise I would have immediately become a wine club member, nonetheless , I'll likely become a member anyway! read more

I decided to go to Miners Leap Winery because I received an invitation for an evening with live entertainment, catered food, and new release fall crush wines. Who in their right mind would turn an offer like that down? The Sony Blues Bland provided the live entertainment, and the food was catered by Sandra Dee's BBQ restaurant. It was a beautiful fall evening to enjoy this event under the stars. Sandra Dees was serving chicken, chopped, pork and tri tip. Naturally I chose the tri tip, which I thought would go well with a bottle of Miners Leap Res Ipsa Red. The Res Ipsa red wine is very jammy and complex. It paired nicely with the BBQ tri tip. The bouquet of this red blend was very full and the balance of tannins were delightful. I love the linger this wine left on my taste buds...warm and well rounded...there was a taste bad party going on in my mouth. The band was also very entertaining. I happen to love R & B, with preference for the blues. And Sony blues Bland plays some real Kansas City style speakeasy bluesy blues..real Kansas City style speakeasy blues...all in all, this evening at Miners Leap turned out to be just what the doctor ordered. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon during an impromptu tour of the Clarksburg wine region. Beautiful grounds, gorgeous tasting area, clean bathrooms, and fun music playing. We also loved the misting and light breezes that kept us cool. Tastings are $5 per person for 5 tastings, and is collected up front. Bad move on their part - now they have no way to upsell me a bottle as we leave. No way I'm taking out my wallet twice! 2 whites, 2 reds. The lady pouring offered absolutely no wisdom about the vino, but was eating an Otter Pop as she poured and let us know that she'd gotten a job here a couple months after coming out here for a tour. She was helpful in directing us towards all the other wineries in the area - advice we paid heed to after tasting the wines. All of the wines trended on the light- to medium-bodied and acidic range; probably better for food pairing than drinking, though none of them particularly stood out. At ~$30 a bottle, absolutely none were even worth the tasting fee discount. Might come back for the Sangria, but not in a rush for a future tasting. Worth a stop, but not a trip. read more

Our family joined this year's Easter event with friends that are members of the wine club. We had several bottles of wine (root stock, tempranillo, delta breeze) and all were wonderful. It was hot that day, so we also had wine slushies, which hit the spot. The wine was mighty fine, but the property was great for the kids. There was lots of open space on these lovely grounds to allow the kids to run around without too much worry while enjoying drinks. There were lots of kids there, so you wont feel like your little ones are ruining anyone's experience, especially since the place is large enough that little kids playing naturally fades into the background. Everyone in our group (about 20 people) had a great time. We went back again for Mother's Day with our neighborhood friends and again had a lovely time. They had a photographer there taking mother's day pictures and a very talented musician playing a pretty eclectic mix of music that was very enjoyable. The staff is also very attentive and friendly. They came by to clear glasses and make sure we were OK throughout the afternoon. The bar can get busy, but they are pretty efficient so you wont have to wait long. The only thing that I can think to complain about is that there are only 2 unisex bathrooms on site, so a bit of a line can form when it gets busy. With that said, the bathrooms are very clean and well stocked considering the number of people that were there both times we went (and the fact that there were a good amount of kids there), which speaks to how good the staff is here. It was also bring your own food both times we went, so come with a picnic. We will be back. Can't wait for the weather to get a little warmer and the evenings longer and for their concert season to start. read more

Cannot believe I went off to the Delta without my camera. But it was a mission of mercy to buy wine for my cousin who is arriving next week. I passed Miner's Leap on my way to another winery and thought, "Hmmm, I don't remember that place. Note to self: stop on the return trip." So glad I did I made this note and gladder still that I stopped. This fabulous old barn (111 years old more or less - okay, craziness: 111-year-old-bard on this day 11-11-11) is being reborn as a tasting room for Miner's Leap -- recently relocated from Lockeford/Lodi and opened July 2011. Shaded by old walnuts and surrounded by welcoming landscape and sitting areas, Miner's Leap provides yet another respite and reason to journey to this magical place called the California Delta and Clarksburg Wine Country. It's so close to Sacramento it's ridiculous. Or a great road trip from the Bay Area. The tasting room is still a work in progress, so we tasted at tables shaded by umbrellas. A full flight of wines -- white and red -- is $5 but then credited to any bottle purchase. Great deal. A cold, crisp fall day the smell of smoke from the nearby fire-pit made this a perfect sensory moment. You can imagine how lovely this is in the spring and summer -- perfect for picnics which they welcome and dog friendly, too! For the non-wine drinkers you can cozy-up to a cold Rubicon brew on tap (Midtown, Sacramento). Hours of operation are Friday, 1pm to 6 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 5pm. She was yelling at us and then got the owner to come out and yell at us to whit out the owner asking us the customer what hade happen. Miner's Leap Winery may be your first or last stop while touring wineries in the Sacramento Delta / Clarksburg wine region. Their facility is conveniently located off South River Road on the way to Clarksburg. Like most places of the levee roads, the driveway comes up fast so be prepared. The winery has a small, open tasting room surrounded by a nice garden and patio area. This has the added benefit of open air tasting without standing in the sun or rain. The tasting bar can quickly become crowded as groups arrive for tasting and wine club pickups. They only had four wines on the menu on my visit, although most of them were pretty good. Many of the options were sourced from outside the region for more variety. Their location tends to overwhelm the rather small facility making an intimate tasting experience very difficult, although most people just bought a bottle and head to the patio. We've driven by here many times and seen it get bigger and prettier and more popular....figured it was finally time to stop in and check it out for ourselves. The tasting area is set up on the back patio of an old barn, which is actually a pretty nice setting. There are a bunch of tables and chairs around heaters and a fire pit as well -- you don't have to stand around at the tasting table, you can go kick back with your wine and take in the surroundings. There are currently six wines being poured: Albarino, Pinot, River's Edge (blend), Cabernet, Red Ipsa (I think it's another blend), and Zinfandel. The albarino was pretty unremarkable, but not bad at all. Definitely drinkable. The Pinot has an interesting smoky flavor to it....I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. I thought the Zin was a little too sweet for my liking, but both blends were very good. I especially liked the River's Edge. Tasting fee is $5 per person, refunded with a purchase of course. Looking for a ladies night with a nice glass of wine, friendly atmosphere, fun boutique shopping all with your dog tagging along? This is your spot! I was lucky enough to attend the event at Piatti's a couple weeks ago and met Stephanie from Miner's Leap. After chatting with her a bit I found out about ladies night at her winery. Naturally, I had to come down and check it out! I brought my four legged family members and wandering the grounds checking out their great booths with everything from jewelry to organic and vegan lotions to chairs made out of old wine barrels?! They had a DJ playing some nice tunes. There was plenty of seating. They were offering yummy and light salads accompanied by a glass of wine for $10. I decided to skip the salad and go for a bottle. I remembered the Delta Breeze II and Zinfandel from the yelp event, so I grabbed a bottle of the Delta Breeze to drink and a bottle of Zinfandel to take home. After grabbing some wine we went over to the beautiful patio to have a seat and enjoy the atmosphere. Stephanie came over to make sure that we had enough shade, brought us a bucket of ice to keep our wine chilled and gave us some background on the winery and surrounding wineries. She is such a great host! I just love the fact that Miner's Leap is such a family and pet friendly location! This is a secret gem! We happened upon this place enroute to another and have been back several times. (We never tried to find the other place after finding Miner's Leap ;) The wine is fantastic and so are the people and atmosphere. It's kid friendly too, plenty of room for the kids to run while the adults sip. Lily the pot belly pig is great too! The atmosphere is very welcoming, several outdoor tables with umbrellas, decorative plants, etc. make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. There is a lot of free parking. Every afternoon we've been there a football game is on the outside tv prompting you to just take your wine, sit and stay a while. All of the servers are friendly and very knowledgeable on the wines. Maybe the worst winery I've ever visited. The winery itself is really nice. I can see why people stop here. The barn and landscaping is very well maintained. HOWEVER, the fire pit is so smoky that sitting anywhere near it is a mistake unless you want to smell like a campfire. The wine was just okay. One of the blends had a "symphony" listed as a varietal. Hmm. Never heard of a grape called symphony. Might want to research that. Some wine wasn't even palatable, so for $20 each, it was a terrible price point. You can get one tasting waived if you buy 2 bottles, but there was nothing that justified the price tag. You were paying for experience, and they think they are located in Napa. You guys are located on a busy road. Finally, and the reason I'm writing, is the staff. Absolutely horrible. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. The staff finished up a transaction and then continued to talk. We were the only ones in the bar, so we stood there for a solid 3-5 minutes awkwardly while they continued to chat and actively ignore us. No eye contact. Nothing. A simple, "We'll right with you," or "Hello and welcome, here's our menu and prices, we'll be with you in a second." Instead, my wife and I were about a minute away from just leaving while they continued to ignore us. It was so weird. Paying for our bill was also painful. The man was either drunk, on Quaaludes, or just indifferent. He was all out of effs and moved like a sloth working at the DMV. They have a tip jar as if to suggest that they go above and beyond, and they should just start giving that back to the customers. While it was a slow afternoon, there were many tables that still had wine glasses or empty bottles, and one table still had a dirty rag and spray that they forgot to grab on their way back. I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to let everyone know that they should keep driving. There is nothing redeeming about this place. read more

A co-worker/friend joined me on a drive from Davis down to Clarksburg. The ride along the Sacramento river was easy with very little traffic. The winery comes up suddenly right after passing the Freeport Bridge. As you drive down into the parking lot you will be welcomed with a beautiful patio, the winery tasting barn and the event center venue. We ended up sampling the wines and both believe the flavors matched the beauty of the winery. My favorite white was the Albarino and my favorite red was the Cinsault. If you are eating fish, their Reserved Chardonnay would be amazing. The Res Ipsa (Red Blend) can easily go with anything. *I highly recommend checking out this winery before heading down to the Old Sugar Mill and/or Bogle Vineyards. read more

My friend and I visited on a particularly generous day - we got our tasting for free even without purchasing anything. The employees/owners were very knowledgeable and helped point us in the direction of other wineries in the area. This winery was not on my radar at all but it is close to my house and my suggested it based on other reviews. It is a smaller place in comparison to some of the more well know places but has a down home feel and the grounds are really nicely done. When we went they were ha big their happy hour which was 5 dollars for a sampling of 5 different wines. All were delicious and we chose a Chardonnay to purchase and bring over to our table. I believe it was around 21-22 dollars. There was a live singer there performing and the music level was appropriate so your conversation wasn't drowned out. The staff was friendly and helpful and the only knock I can give the place is that my wife left her sunglasses in the bathroom and when she returned someone had taken them. Based on a few visits here. If it were not for yesterday this would be five stars. We attended the fathers day event. I just wanted to come out with my daughter, have a bottle of tempranillo (which theirs is fantastic) eat some Q and just hang out with my daughter for a bit. Sadly after we finished our bottle and were pondering about getting another a lady comes up and says we have to buy a wrist band to stay. I was shocked as what I saw on facebook said for wine tasting only. She explained it was for being on the site and because of the band. Stupidly instead of leaving we ponied up the money. After this weekends experience on Easter Sunday I never be back to this winery, after visiting frequently for years. The Reason: A women pouring was so incredibly rude to a couple tasting beside me that I simply am embarrassed to be associated here. The couple politely explained that the white wine they had just been poured was warm, and the worker told them to just pour it out if you don't like it. She was extremely rude and people were leaving simply because of how she was treating them. When we arrived and were greeted, they didn't even make eye contact with us. When I asked if they had a certain bottle open it was apparent that the woman I asked was clearly annoyed. Literally the only nice worker I encountered there on Easter was a tall older brunette who was more than kind. After coming years ago, I have had good experience after good experience. The grounds are gorgeous and I will miss them, but I can't keep coming and having bad experiences, I'm simply done.The hours are terrible. Certain wines are good and some have an after taste I can no longer stomach, but honestly the customer service has simply tanked during the times of my visits. read more
