I feel confident that he sees value in hearing his customers feedback and mitigating their concerns. I do think my case may have been an extraordinary situation, and hopefully no one else will have the same experience that I have. Hired DUELL to snake the main line. Technician came and spent 2 full hours after I told him at the beginning I needed to leave in 2 hrs to see a client. He finally left 2 hrs later and charged $700 and wrote on the receipt the drain was working well. After 2 weeks, the backup happened again and I called them back they didn't pick up as it was Labor Day and I left a message. I called another company who came out within a couple hours to snake the drain and advised due to tree roots he could not get the snake to get thru the main line and needed the hydro jet at the very least and possibly a new line installed..I paid the 2nd company $680 for the service then called DUELL back to get some sort of refund and understand they were there and they charge a trip charge and all but I was asking for 1/2 back as they did NOT fix the issue. I had to get the owner (Rick) cell # 518-365-7421 from city hall and called only to find him to be rude, condescending and arrogant. He treated was screaming at me on the phone. I ended up calling him out on his behavior and he refused any refunds. I would recommend to NEVER call this company as the owner is a crazy and should not be privileged to do business here! read more

The scheduling for this company is phenomenal. I called late Tuesday afternoon, expecting them to schedule us for the beginning of the next week at best. They had availability the next morning! We selected noon, but the day of the repair, they were able to come at 9:00am! The plumber made quick work of the job we had and was even able to complete an additional task we'd been waiting to have done for months. Their rates are competitive and they are professional. A close friend referred me to Duell Plumbing & Heating after he had a positive experience with them. Our 50 gal water heater had a slow leak so I gave Duell a shot. The receptionist answered my call, took down the pertinent info from our current water tank and patched it through to Dave, the local technician. Dave called me within 15 minutes and was at my house within 90. He and his colleague Kyle were very polite and answered any questions my wife and I had. The owner or whoever Rich or Rick is, is a TOTAL JERK. I googled "plumbers in ballston spa" this was the 1st company that popped up at the time and it said "serves ballston spa" I called for an emergency I gave my info he said it would be $135 then would give me a quote for work that needed to be done. I was perfectly fine with that. 2 employees came to my house and said I had 2 options either cut blind into my ceilings and MAYBE find the section needed (if not keep cutting to make it bigger until found) or I could just shut the water off to my house while what I needed to be done could get done. Clearly I'm not going to cut open walls if it's not needed. The employees then cash me out saying it's $253... how did it go to that from $135? The guys said for labor..... they pointed out my 2 options and were at my house for less than 30mins. None the less the one guy pulled my light bulb out (when I'm pretty sure every lightbulb in the history of light bulbs gets screwed in) he was just going to leave it broken but the other worker who was great made sure he fixed it. I get the receipt and it looked like he charged me $101 for "travel distance of 10 miles or more" I call that Rick or Rich guy and he said no that's the $135 fee. WAIT WHAT you said a service visit was $135 not because you were traveling 10+ miles it was a $135 fee. If that was the case I would've just called another company that was in ballston spa I had no idea they were located in Glenville at the time. Then the $101 was for labor..... no one did any labor at my house besides fix a lightbulb THEY broke and point out "where" the section of a pipe "might be" and where my water shut off was. While on the phone with whoever Rick/rich was he proceeded to be extremely rude and was literally yelling at me saying "do you know how much money it costs me to get up there I'm already out $120 in gas there and back" we'll sir if you disclosed that to me I wouldn't have even used you but instead you didn't disclose that was the reason for the fee AND charged labor on top of it and was still yelling at me "you didn't let my guys cut into your ceiling to find this pipe" no you're absolutely right I didn't let them because it would've been an unnecessary expense, didn't your employees and yourself just tell me I can just shut off the water? Clearly anyone would choose that instead of spending unnecessary money. Instead of being a business man this man is a crook. In my line of business I will be sure to let everyone know to use ANY company BUT this one. I've never experienced such a crooked lying rude human in my life who should be ashamed of himself for speaking to customer the way he did. read more

I would NOT under any circumstances recommend Duell Plumbing. We hired them in 2019 for a project in Schenectady which included rough in plumbing and final connections for two bathrooms and two kitchens. Although their price was double that of other contractors in the area, we were in a bind and needed someone ASAP. Long story short, we were overcharged for a project they NEVER completed and then held us financial hostage demanding payment for an unfinished job, refusing to release our plumbing permit issued by the City. Extremely unprofessional, rude, and overpriced. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worse enemy. Last Saturday, the seal to the elbow joint of the supply pipe to our utility sink in the basement came loose and began to leak after we replaced our faucet. We had to turn off the main water supply, so it was important to get it fixed that day. We called around and got Duell Plumbing to come to our house. The plumber called about 3 hours after we put in our emergency call and quoted $250.00 just to show up. It seemed unbelievably expensive, but we couldn't wait, it was already 7:00 at night. Instead of just resealing the pipe, the plumber insisted that we have that section cut out and replaced, which took about 10 minutes. He announced that he was finished and went to his truck. We went down to the basement to check it out and found that it was still leaking. The nut from the supply line to the faucet was just a little loose. We asked him to tighten it and he insisted that we needed the whole section of piping replaced again and it would cost an additional $198.00. When we argued, he said "looks like you are screwed". The total bill for approx. 20 minutes of work totaled $700.00. When I called Monday to ask about the bill and complain about the attitude of the plumber, I was passed through to the owner. Surprise, surprise, the owner was the one who came to our house that Saturday and did the work. After him yelling at me over the phone that he already explained everything on Saturday, he said that he didn't want us as customers and hung up on me. read more

I am a committed Home Advisor customer so I contacted Duells Plumbing on 2/29/16 & spoke to Lacey after reading all the positive reviews. I advised that I would be checking back later today. While on another call this morning she contacted me around 9 am offering their service as early as 11am-1pm. Moments later she called me again asking if Kevin could come earlier (10:15 to which I agreed). He arrived promptly & introduced himself. He advised me of the $89 visit charge. During his 40 minute stay he explained everything he was doing. Kevin was polite and very personable. The whole visit took from 30-45 minutes. I thanked him for his service and time. Lacey & Kevin were both professional and courteous and I do highly recommend this company, their reviews really do speak for themselves. read more

A few years back my hubby had them replace our hot water heater because they were the cheapest quote (bad idea). The guy looking at relining my chimney flue for the heating system said hey you have a leak on top of that water tank. Gas hot water heaters are supposed to last 8 to 12 years but this thing is only 4 to 5 years old and it was already leaking for quite awhile according to the service guy. He wanted to know if I wanted to buy a new hot water tank, are you kidding me! I ended up paying over $700 for them to fix the issue and I have a hole in top of the water tank now. Obviously the reason they're the cheapest is they sell you garbage and also don't seem to properly install it. read more

While out of state, I contacted Duell to take care of an urgent plumbing issue. The dispatcher Laci was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to determine based on my description that a technician should be sent to my residence immediately. She worked her magic and someone was at my home in less than 30 minutes. Upon arrival Tyler described the problem (in a manner that even I understood) and his recommendation for fixing (to include prevention down the road). He was even so kind as to poke around (with permission) other fixtures and piping to ensure everything was on the up and up. Tyler was super personable and professional. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. I bought a hot water heater from them 2 years ago. One would think that you wouldn't have problems with it but oh no. This past summer (2017) the pilot light kept going out. Called and they sent this kid over who was nice enough but not very knowledgeable. Took longer to replace a simple part but whatever it was fixed. Of course I ended up paying out of my pocket 187.00 for them to replace a part. Couple months later same issue. This time they send two people. One seemed pleasant but the other decided he would voice his opinion about my house and heating system and proceeded to try and sell an 8,000 furnace. Yeah.... no thanks buddy and thanks for criticizing my house. The one guy leaves to go to another job and they leave me with big mouth. The guy disappears for almost 2 hours to get the part and comes back to replace the part which took him over an hour to fix which he said oh it will only be 30 minutes to fix. Once again there goes another 187.00 out of my pocket. I won't be returning back to them as a customer and will not recommend. read more

I had Duell install a hot water heater a few years ago. Recently it stopped working and I called them to take a look. The said they fixed the issue and charged me $430 while at work. When I got home I still didn't have hot water. I called the next day and they came out and told me it was a electrical issue and they couldn't fix it. I feel like this should have been tested at the beginning of the service call. I don't recommend duell. read more
