Excellent!! We were traveling through the area and did a little research to select a spot for some authentic wings, and Duff's did not disappoint. Honestly, is was exactly what we were looking for, a small, authentic spot where the service was fast and friendly. Our server was amazing... has been working there 34 years - holy moly! She honestly couldn't have been better if she tried, kind and patient as we asked questions to make sure we were getting the full experience. We ordered the mild-medium with a side of hot sauce, the fried pickles, and a roast beef on weck with fries. Yum, yum & yum! I won't make any overt statements, as I'm not familiar with the other wings spots in the area - but we certainly were impressed. Duffs wings had a great flavor and the perfect crunch on the outside. It was in 1969 that the local tavern known simply as Duff's served up their first batch of chicken wings. Always love visiting Duffs when we come back to wny to visit. Met up with a friend and our kiddos this recent trip. We were seated quickly by a nice friendly hostess. We ordered some apps- spinach artichoke dip and shoestring fries as well as our drinks. They arrived pretty quick and tasted great. We then ordered our meals- of course I ordered the wings crispy and saucy. I ordered the wings mild medium in flavor and my friend did a bbq type I believe. Unfortunately, at that time, this was not our experience as the wings were overcooked and dry and frankly not enjoyable. As I've said in another review, not all Duff's are created equal! If you're in the southtowns, consider this your best foray into Duff's wings, as I think this is the superior location. With the caveat that I'm not someone who can handle heat, I think it's important to note that Duff's in general are on my usual dinner rotation, and this Duff's location is the one I bring my out of town friends and family when they want wings without the hassle of bringing them down to East Aurora. The selection is a little bit different than the Dick and OG Duff's, and I think it's what elevates this place. It's also bigger, has better natural light, and does small things that I believe put this up on the pedestal as far as Duff's locations go. They have a bunch of TVs with Buffalo style trivia, and nice outdoor seating which I haven't actually seen because I never seem to get to this location outside of the winter time. The large fries are obscenely large, and put together in a way that isn't just thrown into a brown bowl, so it feels like you're in something a little bit nicer than a general wing joint. Service is about what I expect from my other locations. They've always been attentive, and we've never had an issue. Their Carolina Char BBQ wings are the main reason you need to go to this location. If you're a Garlic Parm fan, I don't know what to tell you if you're trying to go elsewhere! The celery is always huge and crunchy here, which is something you really can't get if you want to dunk some veggies at home. This location is convenient to the Leisure Rink though, so I came with my daughter and parents after a hockey game there. In terms of the food, everything we got was very tasty, so no complaints there. Pay close attention to the warnings about the spiciness of the sauces: they are not joking!! I got the chicken fingers which were huge (I got 2 meals out of my order). Complaint: can't sub out regular fries for sweet potato, even for an upcharge. I ordered an app serving of the sweet potato fries anyway, and was only disappointed by having to pay an app price for them - otherwise, they were delicious. That's where my compliments end. Service was marginal to non-existent. Our original server vanished early on, and her replacement was fairly absent for the remainder of our time; it wasn't even particularly busy until we were just about to leave (from what I could see). The clincher came when my parents and I each handed over our credit cards on separate plates for our separate checks, and they were returned to us having been charged for the opposite party's amount. Wow, really? In terms of decor and atmosphere, it's a sports bar feel, which makes sense. One thing I enjoyed was the TV screen featuring Jeopardy-like trivia questions about local sports teams and businesses. Loved the Buffalo paraphernalia all around. She apologized and brought out a fairly big order of fries and adjusted the bill accordingly. TASTE: The wings and fingers were crisp. It would have been nice if I could have ordered different sauces for the wings and fingers to try other options, but the waitress said they don't do that. (I would have paid an upcharge if available). I had hard time not eating it all in one sitting. My friend who ordered the medium wings had more sauce on them in comparison to my wings and fingers. The puddle of sauce on the bottom of his dish was perfect for dipping fries in - I was a bit jealous. In the future when ordering, I would mention that I want the wings/fingers to be extra saucy. Fries were okay. We put quite a bit of salt on them, but they still seemed to be flavorless. The fries ended up being more of a vessel to eat up the blue cheese. Oh and the blue cheese itself was a bit on the sweeter side; I prefer more of a bold flavor. SERVICE: Okay. Our food took about 30 minutes and the people next to us were complaining about the wait. There was a big party that seemed to be taking up the majority of the waitresses time, which was understandable. I only wish there was more servers working during lunch hours on the weekend. Or perhaps it would have been helpful to have the hostesses check back on tables? Overall, Duff's knows how to make some perfectly crisp wings with the perfect "buffalo" sauce. But that's just me... Mild means not spicy at all, btw. They were less spicy than a normal NY mild wing. The appetizers we got were ok.. nothing special. The blue cheese was also just ok.. the large amount of celery they give is a big plus but it looked like they hadn't washed the celery??? The atmosphere was cool and the staff was nice.. & They had a big selection of beer and alcohol I think. Now that I think of it, the bathroom was kind of disgusting, though.. looking like it hadn't been "thoroughly" cleaned in ages. This is all you need to know: honey bbq sauce. Being new Buffalo residents, my husband and I are on a quest to find our "wing spot" to bring family and friends to. Our first stop was Duff's as we heard their wings tend to be a crowd favorite. I got the boneless wings with honey bbq sauce (I know, I know, not real wings) and my husband got traditional wings with mild Buffalo and smoked bbq. Y'all that sauce brought heaven to earth for a moment. Duff's does a great job of adding a generous amount of sauce to keep the party going. If you're not a saucer, I'm sure you can ask for them to go a little lighter. The boneless is a meal with fries, and the portion is also generous. Heads up if you want to split, there is a fee of about $2. Also important: the blue cheese. They do not skimp with a tiny cup. You are getting a decent amount and making it worth your time. We had been in Buffalo for a week on business and our boss decided to take us to Duff's for our last night there and I am glad he did! It was a quiet Thursday night and we were seated right away. I missed the list of beers on the wall when you walk in but our server was able to list them to me by memory starting from light ones and working her way to dark ones. Color me impressed! My boss ordered some fried pickles and a large pulled pork nachos for appetizers. There was enough there I think to fill us all up but these were just the apps! The pickles were fried up just right and the dipping sauce was a great complement. I wasn't trying to fill up on apps but the nachos made it tough not to. Lots of pork, cheese, jalapenos, and sour cream to be had. I hadn't tried a beef on weck yet during our time in Buffalo so the Weck and Wings was the perfect choice for me. The wings were nice sized, perfectly cooked and perfectly sauced. I ordered Medium as they advertise that their sauces run towards the hotter side and they had just the right amount of heat that I was expecting. The beef on weck had very tender beef on a very soft bun topped with salt and caraway seeds. The au jus was a bit thick, more like a gravy but it was delicious and great for dipping. I was thankful that the horseradish was on the side as I am not a fan. Our server was very attentive, stopping by often to check on us and she even skillfully slid the leftover nachos into a To Go box with the skills of a pro! I love wings and enjoy trying different wing restaurants and the different variety of sauces, my all time favorite hot sauce is the original Franks recipe. With much fanfare and hype on how great Duff's famous wings are, we decided to give it a try. My hubby is from Buffalo New York and he prefers Blasdell pizzeria for the best wings in town. We ordered the 10 piece mild/medium hot. The server told us are ordered to be up between 20 to 30 minutes, within 10 minutes are to go order was ready. Returning to our hotel and anxiously opening the box of wings, we noticed there wasn't much sauce on the wings, they looked limp as if microwaved. Biting into the lukewarm rubbery wing with mild/ medium sauce that was as mild as ketchup- very-very disappointing. The best thing about these wings - wasn't the wings, it was the celery and blue cheese dressing. Stopped into Duff's after catching a movie. It was later in the evening (730ish) but the place was still pretty crowded. We had to wait for a table, but there were only two of us so it was less than ten minutes. Our waitress was super busy but surprisingly good. Our drinks came out quickly and when we did order some appetizers, the kitchen was pretty quick too. Atmosphere is a big loud which doesn't bother me but if you were in a larger party, I think you'd struggle to hear each other. The portions were huge. I couldn't believe the size of my appetizers. My friend and I giggled and actually asked for boxes as soon as the food arrived. It was deep fried bar food. Duff's chicken wings are terrific. Their sauce? Even better. I would recommend ordering them extra-saucy. Just make sure you are looking at their "heat chart" before ordering. Mild is Medium, Medium is hot, Hot is Extra Hot, etc. The restaurant is almost always packed full of food and/or sports fans. There are several TV's throughout the restaurant and they are always really good with having more than just sports...they usually have a couple TV's playing some funny bloopers to keep you entertained. I've had a couple of their sandwiches and have never been disappointed. The staff is made up of a bunch of women in tight black shirts and shorts...they are all friendly, I just wish they were allowed to wear clothes that fit. I will admit, I am somewhat obsessed with chicken wings; and these wings did not disappoint! We were driving through Buffalo from a wedding, and we decided to have chicken wings from the one and only Duff's. Trust me, I have been waiting for these chicken wings since we got the save the date about a year ago, so I was ready for them. The atmosphere was very similar to a bar scene (if you've been to Ohio, it reminded me of a Quaker Steak and Lube). The service was pretty prompt, and our waitress was really nice. We only had one issue, and she was able to resolve it pretty quickly. The wings were also amazing -- surprisingly, the medium had a lot more flavor than the hot, but the wings were crispy and had the right amount of sauce. We also had french fries and fried pickles, and they were a great compliment to the meal. The main reason I had to take off one star was because there was just something off -- I am not sure exactly what it was, but there was just something off about the entire experience. Granted, we went on a Sunday, but there was just something about the experience that did not give me that feeling of "this was a good experience".
