I think these are pretty standard buffalo foods, but damn I am so disappointed. The wings were so tiny, and I got that weird extra wing that comes in the pack that you should throw in as a freebie. The flavor was good. The beef on weck was decent but NOT served with horseradish. Um, what? The tots were standard. I've been watching my diet lately and trying not to eat garbage, but this was my first cheat-ish day in 2 months. I'm just so sad I spent money and calories on something that wasn't great. I once heard Jim Kelly in a TV interview say that Big Tree had the best wings in the area. I thought, 'Are you sure it doesn't have anything to do with the hand carved wooden sculpture of you and all your buddies out front?' While we can't say whether Jim was swayed by the wooden homage to him on the street named after him, it turns out Jim was spot on regardless. If I could write negative stars I would. My 14 year old son and I drove here from Philadelphia for the Bills/Eagles game. After driving 7 hours, we wanted to stop here before the game to eat. I don't like to be this guy because I saw the menu before I ordered and knew what the prices were so that's on me but I got a chicken finger sub that was $23.99 and I had them bbq which was and extra $1.95 for a premium sauce. My almost $26 sub was fine but I just can't get out of my head that I paid $26 for a B to B+ sub. The service was fine. The ambiance was good but it just seemed so expensive. We ordered a big ditch and it came in what looked like a 10-12 Oz plastic bills cup and it was $20. We wanted to order wings somewhere around 8:48 and he told us the kitchen closed five minutes ago. Big Tree Inn is a place that I've always wanted to visit due to its place in Buffalo history as a watering hole for Bills legends past. While in orchard park recently, I finally had the chance to make this happen. What I can say about Big Tree now that I have visited is that they don't appear to have changed much since those early 90's Superbowl runs. Much of the bar decor (especially the bathroom) seems liked it was probably present in those days. We came in around lunch time and sat at the bar with a group of what I assume are the regulars. We had a double order of wings (hot) and although they looked great when they came out, they ended up being closer to a mild/medium situation. The bartender was nice and it made for an overall pleasant trip however my criticism of the place would be that the photos on the wall weren't the only thing in the bar that links you back to its 1980/1990 hayday. read more

Personally, I feel this place rides off the coattails of being near the stadium and early 90s nostalgia. The location wasn't super busy yet the service was horrendously slow. Appetizers of mozzarella sticks, and fried ravioli were fairly decent. The beef on weck was a -1 or 2 stars. Thickly cut roast beef that was very chewy and overdone. It honestly may have been the worst one I've ever had. The wings were great. If you come here and stick only with the wings, I think you'll be in pretty good shape. We also ordered a cheeseburger that was excellent but then strangely again the fries some of the worst bar fries I've ever had. Special thanks to the lady in the kitchen ( may of been the owner ) who was very helpful along with James who came in later on and delivered our food. A few cars in the parking lot maybe 7 people at the bar this particular evening. The bartender was speaking loudly and laughing with someone down at the end working on a football pool. Completely ignored us. We sat there for a good 10 minutes with $40 laying on the bar. He didn't even look our way after he saw us come in and sit down. He moved to the people right next to us and started talking about the football pool. He got their drinks and ignored us until we had enough and walked out. Went there to try it out in Wednesday because they have a giant sign out for a 12.95 steak dinner. We were only ones in dining room and some kid waiter tells us his boss said special ended at 6pm???? He could care less about his job and was wearing his mask under his nose. "Friendliest Bar in America" is what my husband said immediately when we left this bar. We stopped in for a few rounds when we had an hour to kill on Super Bowl Sunday and immediately were greeted by Sarah who got our drafts within a minute of opening the door, had people sliding down the bar to give us seats and had met three different people who introduced themselves when we sat down.
