Definitely a burger worthy of a review. A restaurant with a forty year history says something significant about the quality and service. Duffy's has been on my "to try" list for a couple years. Well, the quarantine provided an option to try curbside and I am so glad we did! The burger was delicious as were the potato salad and coleslaw. Awesome dive bar/burger spot, exactly what I was looking for. Had the Brie and Caramelized onion burger with two Busch draft pints for $10. Burger tastes freshly ground and was cooked to a perfect medium. Melting Brie on anything makes it a gooey mess but that's what I came for. Bun had a nice crunch on the edges while still absorbing the right amount of grease from the burger. I'm constantly on the hunt for the perfect dive bar burger and this just easily made my top 10 in the last spot I'd ever expect, AMI. read more

Another wonderful burger at Duffy's. It was pretty crowded inside but we chose to sit in the side room and we were the only people in there until we were finishing up. Once again I got the brie with caramelized onion burger and it did not disappoint! Not only is this the best burger on Anna Maria Island I would go as far as to say this is my favorite burger anywhere! I paired it with a side of their being soup which is another of my favorites. We live this place for awesome burgers and very cold beers. They also serve the beers in frozen mugs and they are very cheap. Great place to eat after being out in the sun the whole morning. This 49 year one-family owned establishment has a great island reputation. I had not been since the move to its current location. It is rare that my overall rating is lower than I'd rate the food alone. Ambiance & service needs to be high for an overall high rating from me. I think this place is resting on an old reputation and needs a face lift. Parking lot is small an unmarked, place was popular I arrived after lunch hour on a week day when it was emptying out. There is no notice that says "order at the bar" so I waited politely in view of TWO people, a scowly woman and young male, at the bar hoping someone would acknowledge me, direct me or take my order. Ten minutes later I asked and got a brusk NO we don't come to you, you come to us. Navigating tables to the counter I was tossed a menu with a hurry up and order attitude by a young guy, with little time in the menu, so I ordered simply to get in & out and returned to my seat to wait. Tables were not cleaned promptly or well, despite ample help and the place is noisy and chaotic. Floors were pretty grimey. Lots of bowls of chili went out and some were sitting on the back patio at 53o. Mugs went by frosty. They get a ZERO on friendliness, efficiency, cleanliness and ambiance from me. The burger was good in a Five Guys sort of way--thin meat but pink center and good grill flavor. They don't do fries and I don't do chips so the burger and a soda were plenty. I'd rate my limited food a 3.5 and prices a 5. The wait was not unreasonable once they had my order, after orders from people who came in after me were filled. Got up to pay and was told they're cash only. No issues with their choice, BUT, no signs, and an extra trip out the car. The place is not elderly/disabled friendly, lacking railings, having step downs, etc. If you're not there for "elbows on the table, cold beer & party" or just to say you were there, you might want to skip this place. You need a couple beers to mellow and tolerate their issues. There are far many more DYNAMITE places to eat and be treated well on and near the island for my return. read more

For a no-frills, all cash bar, these burgers are AMAZING. Clearly a "locals" joint and best kept secret, as the more touristy stops usually get the press (and crowds), but you won't be disappointed here, if burgers are your thing. Lots of variety when it comes to toppings, different cheeses, etc. Also has chips, potato salad, chili, hot dogs, grilled sandwiches and few other things, but beer & burgers are the stars. Our family of 3 ate for $50 which included 3 beers. Outstanding value and burgers were gone too fast to get a picture. read more

Definitely the hole in the wall joint that everyone else describes. The burgers are very good, but it is disappointing they don't have French fries. Especially since their pulled pork is VERY good and would be amazing served over fries with some melted cheese. Just sayin. Also, be warned if visiting as a tourist as most do... I've witnessed locals/regulars being served ahead of others waiting at the bar. I mean, I appreciate loyalty... but it's tough to make new loyal customers with that kind of behavior. read more

I ate here. It's a tavern. It was loud and crowded. Cash only, you order at the bar. We went to the bar to order someone took our seat. So we went somewhere else to grab a seat. The food was delivered to our table. The BRAUNSCHWEIGER liverwurst sandwich was awesome. It came on rye bread and with onions I did add some mustard. I had the chili it was very, I mean very close to Skyline's Cincinnati chili. Love that chili. The hotdog was piled high with sauerkraut and onions. The bun started on the end crunchy toasted, then soggy drenched then crispy again. Should name it the rollercoaster. The potato salad needed a bit of help with salt. The grilled cheese was the best I ever had in a restaurant. The burger was raw. We had unsweetened tea and a diet cola. About $33 which isn't bad for the amount of food we got and the beach being that close. All the tables are different. One is concrete polished, one is concrete rough, distressed wood, and polished wood. The place is very dark. Will I be back probably not. The food was good most of it, I'm not one for loud, dark, places just felt out of place. May order to go if they have it. read more

Awesome burgers, chili dogs and the coldest draft beer around!! I was just visiting AMI for my Girlfriends 22nd birthday, she doesn't eat meat but loves the grilled cheese they make so we decided to hit up Duffy's for lunch. I got an Awesome double cheeseburger, super fresh juicy beef and probably the best burger I've had in a while. Do NOT expect to feel welcomed when you're on vacation. Typical bar where the local alcoholics get preference for holding bar stools for hours while making others feel unwelcome and is if they are "in the wrong bar." Bar staff allows patrons to chastise new comers, they will not wait on you with the same level of respect and they do not seem to care about any business other than "the regulars" With so many options on The Island, I would much rather take my money elsewhere. There are plenty of places with better food and better service. I would rate this place at 0 stars. read more

5 stars? I went to this place because of all the 5 stars and people raving about the great burgers. They were good, they were ok, certainly not amazing. There really was nothing special to talk about regarding the burgers. They were not terrible, but they were not wonderful. I had the potato salad as well. It was pretty meh as well. The place itself is just a typical bar. If this is the best burger on the island, the other places must really be dreadful. If I were vacationing in the area again, I probably wouldn't return to this place. It was merely average. read more
