Hurricane Hanks is a favorite with locals and visitors alike. It sits in a small strip mall on Holmes Beach and is easy to find. They serve soups, salads, sandwiches, appetizers and entrees in a friendly bar-like atmosphere. We stopped for lunch and I ordered a grouper Reuben ($28). I had my doubts about replacing the corned beef with a piece of fish but the combination tasted just fine. It came with fries which were done just right. We also had their soup and 1/2 sandwich combo ($14) and chose the clam chowder and California club. Both were very good. Portions are generous and Shannon our server was cheerful and efficient. It's not a real big place so there can be a wait to get seated during the busiest times. Prices were on a par with similar restaurants. Parking is free in their lot.

My family and I visit Anna Maria Island quite often and almost every time we are in the area, someone recommends that we try Hurricane Hanks. On our first day on the island, we decided to grab lunch here. The restaurant is on the smaller side and you seat yourself (this definitely gives the space a more chill vibe, which I like). The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated with beachy decor. There is a parking lot right outside the restaurant, so no worries there. I ordered a taco salad for lunch. It included lettuce, beef, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, and olives, all sitting in a massive tortilla chip bowl. The portion was huge and is most definitely shareable. My dad and sister ordered the grouper sandwich with fries, and they both said it was delicious. My other sister ordered the chicken tender basket, and she enjoyed those as well. Needless to say, the food, atmosphere, and service was great! Portions are quite big and everyone had food leftover, so keep that in mind when ordering. I love that there are two island shops next door to the restaurant. This is the perfect spot for a bite to eat and I can see why so many have told us to try this spot out!

We always visit Hurricane Hanks whenever we are on the island. I love their beer battered everything. Our son was with us this time and ordered the grouper tacos with a Caesar salad on the side. He said it was his favorite meal of the week. It is a super small restaurant that is has a great following of regulars on the island, so be prepared to wait and sit in cramped quarters. The staff is always nice and tries their best to get everyone taken care of.

Their seared scallops were absolutely mouthwateringly delicious! Add some lime juice to your scallops and they are golden! Their baked potato and vegetables as sides really hit the spot! I highly recommend this restaurant on your next date, beach day, family gathering or what not.

Ahi Tuna Tartare. YUMM! I get it without the guacamole and Sriracha sauce.

where the locals go! Hurricane Hanks is simply amazing no matter what you choose from the menu--Amazing Grilled Grouper Tacos! Look at the size of those pieces of grouper in the taco! Make sure you check this place out if you're visiting the island! Everything on the menu is excellent every time. Great atmosphere and service. Top notch all the way

We ordered takeout from Hurricane Hanks last weekend while my brother, sister-in-law, and their four kids were visiting us here on Anna Maria Island--and it was a fantastic experience! Everything was packaged perfectly and still hot when we got it home. I had the chicken parm, and it was absolutely amazing! The portion was so generous it lasted me three meals, and it was just as delicious each time. The whole family was impressed with their meals--and that's saying something with four kids in the mix! A big bonus: my sister-in-law is gluten-free, and Hurricane Hanks had plenty of great options for her to choose from. She really appreciated being able to enjoy a delicious meal without worrying about dietary restrictions. My husband and I live local and love discovering great spots to support, and this one definitely makes the list. We'll be back soon to dine in and enjoy the full experience!

Nice hole in the wall bar/restaurant at the front of Anna Maria. If you're looking for a quiet place for a meal, this isn't it. We waited about 30 minutes for a table on saturday night (not a big deal). Our server was friendly & did the best she could given how busy they were. We ordered the fried gouda mac n' cheese bites as an appetizer & they were fantastic. For our entrees we got the Fish and Chips & The Decadent Burger. Both portions were more than enough so we left satisfied. Will probably come back to quell a burger craving on our next vacation here.

Popped in for a drink and app on a Saturday afternoon and scored seats at the bar. Had yummy ahi tuna stacker. Our friends had the potato skins. Good fast and friendly service and the place was filling up fast. Definitely recommend if in the area and looking for a spot. Beachy decor in a strip mall and totally works.

This was our second time returning to Hurricane Hanks and the food did not disappoint. Our waiter Joe was very friendly and attentive. We sat outside and enjoyed a delicious glass of wine while we waited for our food. We tried the shrimp and scallop risotto and the Ahi tuna stacker. Everything was wonderful!

As we wandered about looking for someplace for dinner (the place we had intended for the evening was maxed out with one large party, so needed to look elsewhere) realized we just happened upon a place we had driven by a couple of times called "The Doctors Office". They had a beautiful garden area outside where people were dining, but it was a pretty warm night, so decided to check out the inside - where we found a really cool space and were greeted by the host asking: "Do you have an appointment?" (Get it? Doctors office...reservations...appointment!? Too cute a play on the doctor's office thing! : ) Well, we did NOT have said appointment (and the main dining area was quite full!) but thankfully there was one table remaining in the back lounge area, which was through a hidden door made to look like a bookshelf! This area also had its own cool vibe. Waiter (Matt) immediately placed two little medicine cups in front of us - to sample their cherry rum punch. Delish. I ordered a cocktail (cannot recall the name but along the lines of a manhattan) while my DH stayed with red wine (boooooo-ring! ; ) We shared the smoked salmon appetizer (super yummo!) Then on to dinner. OK, we're talking seafood country here! But, over the course of the several days we've been here, I ordered seafood every single time. I adore seafood but was ready for something else. So, was being realistic when I ordered something on the beef realm. Got the short rib dish and it did not disappoint. It was excellent. Maybe not the "easily shredded with a fork" ones I have had elsewhere, but certainly super tasty and not at all tough or fatty. DH got the shrimp-lobster tacos and said they were incredible! No leftovers coming home with this guy! Our waiter, Matt, was new to this establishment (but not waitering) and was attentive and personable - above and beyond. Would highly recommend. No, you're not going to get any water views (this place is sort of hidden away in an obscure spot behind a plaza) but well worth the visit!

She rudely told us it would be fine and that we could just move to another table if we started getting rained on--which made zero sense since we'd still be outside. I figured everyone has a bad day, so we let it go. Unfortunately, the entrees were disappointing. The portions were way too small, the food wasn't nearly good enough for the price point, and the fish was severely overcooked. I probably wouldn't come back here for dinner, but if you're just looking for a good spot to grab drinks, it's worth a try.

Service was awesome too. We got there right when they opened so it was just me and my mom at first and the guy at the bar made it easy and fun. The vibe feels a bit on the fancier side, but it's still chill, a perfect spot for date night or just taking cute photos. No hidden entrance or secret password that we could see and street parking is available. No wait during the day. It's not the cheapest spot, but honestly worth it for the drinks and the aesthetic. The ambiance is polished compared the dive bar scene in the surrounding area. I tried the "Do No Wrong" which calls for: Mezcal, house made orgeat, lime, habanero tincture, mint, nutmeg. I made it known to the bartender that I don't like the excessive sweetness that sometimes orgeat (almond) syrup has in drinks so he could adjust that for me. The drink turned out nice with the crushed ice they use for it and I'd try it again. Also tried the "Chai and Chill" which based off their website is: "Warming spices with chai and espresso, complemented by creamy vanilla and a hint of cinnamon -- smooth, aromatic, and cozy for winter evenings." Being that it's winter in Florida and my smelling sense isn't the sharpest at the time, I wasn't able to appreciate the aromatics in this drink but I'd say it's a balanced creamy drink, perhaps I'd ask for more espresso based liquor in it if I had it again or good for you to know in case you want to make sure that it carries enough coffee flavor for you. As of February 2026, they are doing comedy nights on Thursdays.

I'd love to have an entree of those babies! For entrees I ordered the burger, which honestly wasn't worth mentioning. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable either. Just a burger. The star of the evening was the Snapper entree. For a little context, we had snapper at another restaurant, which my friend said was very good, but her face seemed only mildly pleased. When she took one bite of the Chateau Anna Maria snapper, she had the biggest smile on her face that she couldn't contain! I think the word she used was 'foodgasm.' I agreed, wishing I'd ordered it too. And if that weren't enough, they brought out a beautiful birthday donut served on its own little table complete with chocolate, caramel, and strawberry dipping sauces. Such a great touch! As we headed out we had some great conversation with a manager and a regional manager who happened to be in town. Both were delightful to talk to.
