This is my favorite restaurant in town! Their bbq/bacon burger is the best. Also, their patio is dog friendly and they always have a bowl of water for them. For as fast pace as most restaurants are, they don't make you feel rushed and really get to know their customers. It's been 6 months since my last review (2 stars) of Dugan's but I was wandering downtown and fancied fish and chips again and I'm glad I did. Every 6 months is about all I can do for fried food. It was just after 2pm so very quiet, which I prefer, and I was immediately warmly greeted by Becca when I sat down. I gave her my usual speech I give to American/Irish/English... pub staff about whether they have HP sauce (I knew from previous visits they never did) and was not only informed they still didn't have it but she had never heard of it, which being American is totally understandable. I mentioned that all they had to do was go next door where they actually sell it and was told they didn't need to buy it as they also owned the store next door. Alas she said she couldn't get me any because the manager was out. When she brought my food and asked if there was anything else I needed I sarcastically (in a nice British way) said "HP sauce would be great". 2 mins later she brings me over the bottle of HP. My lunch is complete. Becca also filled up a to-go cup for my coffee just to finish of a great visit. Although I always say the staff are great here Becca was exceptional. P.S. The fries were over cooked but I covered them in HP sauce so it's all good. Dugan's is officially off my naughty list! read more

First time in Little Rock and Dugan's Pug is a must stop. Food is reminiscent of that you find in authentic Irish Pub's. Highly recommend the Corned Beef & Cabbage. The corned beef was crazy good! This place is all bad. I went in cause I used to do delivery and this place was always good to deliver from cause they take an hour to make the food every time so I always could hang out there for an hour making hourly. Went in for food and they took an hour then too! We ordered an appetizer and drinks, and didn't even get the drinks by the time we finished the fried pickles, which were not even seasoned and made me feel sick. Very disappointing. So then I just wanted the bill and the waitress charged me $47 so I went up to the front and told them that I didn't even get the drinks so do you take the drinks off of the tab and that's when everyone realized that I didn't even pay the right bill it was totally someone else's bill who had ordered meals and drinks and everything. I mean they couldn't even get that much right but it would've Been fine if the fried pickles or even good but they were not if they were then maybe I would have ordered something else but they did not bring the drinks that I wanted and the fried pickles are not even good very disappointing I'm sad that I went there probably will cry myself to sleep read more

We stopped in after running the Little Rock Half Marathon, the place was busy but we were greet instantly and offered waters and asked for drinks within minutes. My hubs had a cider which he enjoyed and I had a beer based on our servers recommendation and it was delicious! We ordered some appetizers and the Irish bread, they arrived quickly and hot! Our server was clearly working incredibly hard and still made it a point to check in on us, refill our waters and bring us additional drinks. I highly recommend this pub, great food outstanding service and a cozy environment!!! read more

My girlfriend and I checked this out this place out on a sunday while we were day drinking. The food was great --- the batter that they fried everything in was nice and light and the potato soup was legit. We had a few whiskeys and got a little frisky so we decided to go fornicate in a backroom that was dark. To our demise, there was a night vision camera in the corner so we decided to just go out to the car. Overall it was a great experience but I wish they would remove the creepy cameras. read more

Actually, I give it 2.5 stars. Just a few steps from the Hampton Inn where I was staying for business, the location was great, and the service was friendly. That's about the extent of the good things I can say. The Guinness pour wasn't particularly creamy, and the food was bland. Stopped in here for a Lagunitas' Ground hog day event . I've been to Dugan'sPub many of times and I always have a great time. It has a nice Pub feel to it where it's very inviting and welcoming. Doesn't matter if you are there to watch a game,( This is the place to be for World Cup, I don't like soccer and going here made me a fan) or just there to hang out with friends Dugan's is where it is at. The outdoor seating and well appointed inside bar and room have a nice feel, the kind of place that would be fun to hang out at with friends. There's free Wi-Fi, the bartender has password. Margarita was so-so. I know, it's an Irish pub, what did I expect, but I keep hoping. I tried chicken strips off of appetizer menu; 4 strips, piping hot from the fryer, big and juicy enough for 4 people. Bartender was attentive, but not much personality or personal service. He was polite, but he seemed to consider customers to be little more than paying seat warmers for the amount of attention he gave. He wasn't discourteous, just impersonal. I rated Dugan's with only 2 stars because of my second appitizer, the sausage and cheese tray. About two hours after eating it, I had a severe case of food poisioning that lasted late into the night. read more

Decent Irish pub with a typical menu of Irish pub standards, but the results are above average. I had the triple decker club sandwich, containing fresh ingredients and excellent bacon. The fries were also very good, and they gave a decent portion. Nobody likes a weak side of fries. The ambiance is a standard bar feel, but we were there on a Monday for lunch, so it was pretty empty. At the time, they had a back room you could reserve free of charge for events (they may still feature this; if you want to use Dugan's for an event, I would call and ask). We went here after Razorback Football game. They had a live band playing mainly 80s hits, and they were really good. Multiple HD screens were tuned to ESPN and live football games. Place had a good bar atmosphere, although the bands sound system was cranked a little too loud. Service at the bar was good, but the Reuben sandwich was marginal, it really needed more sour kraut. I have been to Dugan's Pub (a year ago) for drinks and listening to music and those experiences were fine (typical bar scene). So, recently, it was 2:30 pm and my boyfriend and I were STARVING hungry, as we had not eaten all day. So we stopped into Dugan's to eat a late lunch and I ordered the spicy chicken tenders with fries and my boyfriend ordered the fish & chips. My spicy chicken strips were so horrible that I could not even eat 2 bites of one strip. The consistency of them were like rubber and they were laying in plate of red grease. I've attached a photo. My boyfriend's fish was absolutely tasteless. The breading was like eating thick paper. Once he peeled a piece of the breading off, the cod inside was ok. The coleslaw had no flavor. I have also attached a photo of his fish & chips. The fries were horrible too. Tasteless and greasy seemed to be the theme. We both decided that since we could not force ourselves to eat it, even though we were so hungry, we would cut our losses and we left it there to go find another restaurant. The waitress asked me "What was wrong with it?" I told her that the chicken was like rubber and it was so greasy. She said "Well, it doesn't usually come out like that. Sorry about that. I'll take it off your bill." I did not ask her to take it off, but it was nice of her to do that. We were both so disappointed because we wanted to love this cute little downtown pub. read more

We really love the atmosphere at Dugan's. Don is a great guy. Most of the people that go there are regulars. It's like a "Cheers" for downtown Little Rock. Most of them live in the surrounding apartment buildings. Whenever we go there people and the staff are always friendly. It's also a great place to people watch. We definitely go there for the drinks and atmosphere because the food is just average. You can tell that most of it is frozen and not fresh. I usually order the Guinness Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and it's pretty good. My regular drink is the "Blue Irishman." Definitely try it if you go! They have some great beers on tap. We usually go on Friday nights and, I have to admit, it's becoming more of a hassle. They have a band there every Friday night (and Saturday, too, I believe)...AND THE MUSIC IS SO LOUD. It's not just me, it's everyone's opinion. It's so loud that you can't hear someone talking to you...that's sitting next to you. I like getting there about 5pm or so and leave before the band shows up. All in all, it's one of our favorite hangouts!! Great drinks and interesting people makes for a great time. read more

I'm a long time server/bartender. With that being said, I expect the best from anyone who serves me. I understand how a rush works and that people do have bad days. I visited Dugan's for the first time last night and was not impressed. The layout of the place is pretty cool. I like the bar. The patio is nice and covered well. As it was packed for the block party I didn't expect too much from my server. I try not to be a bother. Zack was not the worst, but by far not a great server. First off, he had no clue as to how to answer my questions about what the happenings of the evening would entail. I asked about specials on drinks or food, he had no idea. To quote "They didn't really tell me much of anything" was his reply. He went to ask and when he returned, he answered a question I had not asked. I assume another table had. No big deal. He offered beer and I agreed it was a good idea. He brought that back in a timely manner and I asked for just a few minutes to look at the menu. He did not return for 15 minutes. Ok. It's busy so I'm still cool. I ordered a sandwich that he highly recommended. My friend ordered something I would have never ordered at a pub style place. When our food arrived, again in a timely manner as it was very busy, my friend's dish was cold. My sandwich was very hot and quite tasty. Zack did not deliver our food and we had to wait for quite some time for him to come check on us just to have him go heat my friend's dish. We ate and he brought the check without asking if we wanted more drinks or anything else. Ok. We put cash in the book and waited. He never came back so we hunted him down and paid the tab. He gave us no tip change. Come on, Zack. You know better. Even with less than mediocre service, I would normally still tip 20% because I know it was busy and clearly by the look of this guy, he'd had a rough week. But if you don't bring me tip change and I can't wait any longer for you, that's just tough shit. He did get the two $1's he'd left us. Overall, I'd say my experience was bad. Not terrible, but not good either. My food was good, my friend's was not. (Again, she didn't order something that would've been grade A at a pub.) Zack could really use some more training and possibly a smaller section. I really wish I had gotten a different server. I've heard good things about Bailey and Amber. I might give Dugan's another chance on a day it's not so busy. As long as I got a smart server. I know the place has a good reputation and has been in business for a good amount of time.
