Veggie scramble, which comes with toast and a side of fruit.

I decided to go out of my way to visit Newcastle on a Sunday afternoon because it's where a lot of music lovers tend to hang out and enjoy the jam. The place had all of the atmosphere of a dive bar (which I expected). There's lots of seating, a bar, VLTs, and a dance floor. People were having a great time. The menu is quite extensive for a pub, featuring an all-day breakfast and many burgers, sandwiches, finger foods that I would expect at such an establishment. I had a veggie scramble and it was decent: reasonable price, good portion, crispy potatoes, and no problem with my request to hold the dairy in the eggs and on the toast. I would definitely come here again, especially for the live music.

4 stars? Really? Not a chance. Newcastle has been skeezy since inception and it still is, just more expensive. Summary: cheap dodgy rip-off, avoid. The first time I came here, the server had burn marks on her lips. Now there's less crack but the service was cold and ultimately fraudulent. Rude server, I asked if there was a beer menu (cuz there's lots of taps), and she said, "no". That was it. Thanks for the service. Wanted to try the butter chicken poutine. It's $18. You kidding? Most menu items are $16+. This is a cheap warehouse-style bar in a strip mall on 50th street by the train tracks, not downtown or Whyte. Stupid expensive. My buddy and I got the $14 Friday steak sandwich deal. Steak was passible, stringy, not convinced it was 7oz as advertised. Fries were cold. Salad had bagged shredded cheese on it. Poor quality food. Bill shows up, $17 for the steak sandwich. The deal runs to 7pm, bills dropped off at the table at 7:20pm, shows them as being rung in at 7:18pm. Service was slow, we showed up at 6pm, probably ordered at 6:15pm. Server plays dumb (that's being generous), spends 5 minutes talking to the bartender, comes back to the table saying she doesn't know what happened or what's wrong, but she'll eat the $2 ($3, actually) difference. Repeats said sob story three times. What a scam. Paid and left. Won't be back. This place is a dump.

I've come here before to watch live bands. It's always a fun time. The staff is nice and the selection of beers is great. I'm glad they relocated to this place. We always used to have pizza night here with friends, but we stopped because the quality went down. Now it's time to resume that tradition as they've stepped up their game.

Tidy, great food, service, awesome live entertainment, VLTs, pool tables, free parking. Check it out!

We checked out the Sunday Soul Service jam on Sunday afternoon and had a great time! The live music was fantastic, the service was excellent, the drinks were cheap, and the food was delicious! We tried the donair poutine and were really impressed. Also, the pool tables are free to play on Sundays. We will definitely be back here for more Sunday jams!

Blue collar bar that features live Blues Music on the weekends. Excellent pub music and a couple of pool tables. Colourful patrons for sure.

Probably the best i had in the city. The Next Act is non descript with the decor. It does have a nice patio if you are able to snag a spot. Our server was prompt and attentive. Food came out quickly despite the full restaurant. This time I tried The Pyro with habanero cream cheese, bacon, crispy onions, jalapeños, and chipotle mayo. Hubby ordered The Critic - smoked cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, and bbq sauce Our friend ordered The Scout - jack cheese, chimichurri, crispy onions, avocado, and roasted garlic mayo We all chose the fries as a side. It was delicous. And this time the fries were great and not soggy. My burger was delicious. If you like heat, this one is for you. Both other people at the table enjoyed their burger as well. I saw someone have the mac and cheese, and that looked delicous. However I don't think I can skip the burger and order something else.

We were luck to slide through the front door 15 minutes before the kitchen closed for the night and order a burger to go. We got the Critic with a side of poutine and scurried back to our hotel room with our secured goods. The burger was amazing and exactly what we needed. The patty was substantial with a great crust against the sweetness of the caramelized onions, all between two pillowy soft buns. The burger was also huge, as it was double the size of what you would get an the golden arches. We got back fast enough that the poutine fries were still crunchy with a curds melted into the thick gravy. So happy that The Next Act was open at our moment of need. Forever grateful.

We almost got up and left. Then it took a while for the food to come out even though it appeared like we were the only ones eating. Then we had to go up and ask for the bill and pay because no one was visible. Not impressed at all. It is cute inside and was nicely decorated for Christmas. Food itself was fine. I had the beef dip. They were skimpier on the meat then previously. The fries and the dip were really tasty. My husband had the chicken sandwich It was tasty but the patty seemed a little small. We are not sure if we hit a bad afternoon but we will give it another shot sometime.
