If you need a light hung or any other 10 minute job that anyone with a very minimal amount of understanding about electricity and the ability to read instructions could handle then these guys might actually come out and do it. Of course I'm betting they will charge you for a full hour even though the job would take 10 minutes. I called with an issue that they would actually have to investigate and put some real work into it - in fact it might have even taken them the full hour that they would have charged me. I'm not as impressed with Wiliam as most folks on here. It took him a few days to get to me. Then he was late for his appointment and did not have the breaker I needed. Then he was late getting back from buying the part. His total time spent here was about 10 minutes, and it cost me $95 plus parts. I supposed it is standard to charge a full hour, but I don't think I got great service from the begining to end of the ten minutes. Certainly not worth $107.50. read more

First job was for a new box at a cost of $2k. He did an okay job but refused to label the breakers in the box. I guess he can't take the time; doesn't know exactly what he is wiring up; and wants me to play the old off-on-label game. Needed an electrician not long after and hired him to do a relatively simple job. He went way over budget for an just and afternoon job involving a few circuits in a finished carport. He also agreed to do non-electrical work with the help of an assistant. In doing so he dented my 1.5 year old Samsung dryer in several places and then claimed the damage was pre-existing......And after placing the washer/dryer in a relatively tight spot he didn't have the foresight to turn on the hot and cold valves (I guess his washer at home is waterless!). He tried to fudge the numbers based on the allotted hours after I asked for an itemized bill. He wanted to charge $165/hour.....really now? Even with his ~$20/hour assistant that is way too much for mediocrity. Never again. read more

A handyman referred me to master electrician Willian Duhon on a Monday morning. When I explained my situation (wires sticking out of the wall and no light downstairs), William was happy to work me in around lunch time the same day! Not only did he correct the problem, he explained the way the switches were wired and why they had to be set up a particular way. I have a PhD in EE, but when it comes to home electrical issues, I leave it to the professionals! I had some wiring problems and an entire circuit wasn't working in the house. William came in and immediately knew what the problem was, and fixed it on the spot. His ability to figure out precisely where the issue is in your home can only come from lots of lots of experience. He was done fast and so I had him look at some other "projects" I had started but didn't finish. He finished everything in just over an hour (an hour fifteen to be exact), and he was nice enough just to charge me for an hour. I think that was $95 well spent. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Duhon electric. We needed to add recessed lighting throughout our bottom floor of our two story house. The price they quoted was fair and the work was exceptional. With little to no space to work in the ceiling they were able to add our recessed lighting quickly and it looks amazing. I called Duhon at 7AM yesterday morning (Monday) to fix what I thought was a big problem with the electrical in my kitchen (no electricity in a small area after my husband replaced a ceiling fixture). William was at my house later the same day and after about 3 minutes, found a second breaker box that my husband and I did not know we had. The 'big problem' turned out to be a tripped breaker. Yes, I felt like an idiot, but William was very nice about it, just smiled and said it happens a lot. He did not charge me anything and just asked that I call him again if I needed an electrician. Wow! While he was here, I asked him about putting a dimmer on a four-way lighting switch for the patio light. He didn't have the part with him, but was back today and installed the switch. The light in our guest bathroom mysteriously went out a few days ago, and after some unsuccessful tinkering on my own with the light switch circuitry, I turned to trusty ol' Yelp. Duhon seemed to be a no-brainer, and I gave them a call. I got William on the phone, and he explained how to check if it was just a broken light switch. I tried it, it worked, and now I can just go up the road to Lowe's and buy a new switch. Even better, now I know who to call when I run into bigger electrical problems. Thanks so much William! UPDATE (10/16/15): I had further issues with an outlet in the same bathroom that I thought might be related to the light switch I changed out. I called Duhon Electric after experiencing power flickers and outages in the house for two or three weeks. William answered the phone and I described the problem to him. He said he had an idea of what it was, and was at my house within 2 hours. I took him to the breaker box and he found the problem immediately. My connection points were not very solid to one of my breakers and the wire ends had oxidized. He replaced the damaged breaker and added anti-ox cream to all of my connection points. For good measure, he sealed up all the connections in my secondary breaker box in the garage too. Everything worked! With parts and labor, the service call cost less than $150. This was a huge relief and a very positive experience. I wouldn't call anybody else for electrical work. read more

I just purchased a new house and had two front light fixtures that did not work. William quickly determined that the lights were wired to a low voltage transformer that did not have enough power. He rewired the lights to work with the rest of my front lights in about 15 mins. Great work. I would highly recommend Duhon and will use them in the future. read more

AMAZING!!!! I had a Solatube installed today, and I called Duhon Electric after having a terrible experience with another independent electrician. (Basically, I called about a short, and when that was fixed, he told me I needed at least 8 GFIs in the house. He was slow, and I finally had to kick him out after 3 and 1/2 hours cause he never gave me a finish time and I realized he was just dilly dallying around trying to make extra money.) Duhon Electric was a VERY different experience. I called William, and in a few days, he came over and wired my dimmers for my Solatubes. He was quick, professional, efficient, and courteous. He also involved me in decisions, such as where I'd like the switch to be placed. He gave me options and continually updated me on the progress of the install. He even apologized about my previous experience with my first electrician, and William didn't even know him! The guy was courteous and mindful to be quiet with two sleeping babies, work seemed affordable, and work seemed competent (though I'm not a professional so I wouldn't know). On the downside, there was some confusion about appointment day, and he threw out an old light fixture with a CFL bulb still in it, which is not how to properly dispose of such things. read more

I had a service call with Fleshman Appliance for my dryer and it turned out that it was not getting power. After a quick Yelp search, I called Duhon. After trying to be DIY electrician I found myself needing help! I called Duhon electric and explained my situation he explained over the phone how to correct what I did, he said it's an easy fix but offered to come and take care of it if I didn't feel comfortable. The final piece of my room make-over is a chandelier which was the 3rd light fixture installed by Duhon Electric. I was worried about finding an electrician that I could trust and one that had reasonable prices. Both William and his brother Damian delivered great service. They educated me on what I needed to do to change the light to a dimmer for the chandelier and came back again after Home Depot helped me purchase the wrong product. I just had William come out and do some work for me today and I'm very happy with the results! Before the agreed time, he called to say that he was running a tad late, which I appreciated. He was very personable and completed all the little tasks (replacing switches and outlets, over the range microwave, light fixtures), and seemed happy to look at a few additional things I asked him about as well. Called William in the afternoon with a breaker issue on my AC unit. He was booked, but got me in the same day since having the AC down was a miserable option in our office. Turned out the problem wasn't the breaker, so up to the roof we went to see if it was an electrical problem with the AC. After an hour of taking the thing apart and explaining what he was doing and why (love that he let me watch and learn -- not everyone will do that) it turned out to be an AC part and nothing electrical. He was able to narrow it down to two parts, which was really helpful when I had to talk to the AC folks. My AC guy says it is really rare to have an electrician who will let you watch and explain what they are doing -- a good sign of an honest broker. We have his number on speed dial now. read more
