I was shocked to find an Ace Hardware located here. I thought it was a $1 thrift store!!!! I guess I should open up my eyes a bit wider! We needed to make some duplicate keys. They were able to do it for us within 5 minutes! SUPER FAST!!!! They have keys here that have Disney characters, Playboy bunny character, etc. A great way to distinguish between your keys. I thought it was pretty cool. I'm going to have to come back to make more duplicate keys. They have a lot of DIY items/tools that you would find at Home Depot. I have always loved this place, but now I'm pretty much obsessed! It's my new favorite local shop. They will trade in SodaSteam CO2 cartridges, sell interior and exterior paint (they made me samples from the color cards I picked up at Home Depot), sharpen knives, make keys, trade in propane tanks and offer any sort of advise/help on home improvement projects. It's where I've purchased my latest power drill and electric sander. I'm trying to be a bada** DIY woman. Let's just say it's a work in progress... I got to chit chatting with the owner who was born and raised in the neighborhood and he couldn't be more awesome and nice. The place embodies what it is to be your local hardware shop and why we need to support small independently owned businesses. I've been a loyal customer for years and I suggest you do the same! Where do I begin? I came in for a re-key, and the resident lock-guy not only finished under the time estimated, but walked me through how to reinstall everything. You can tell that the employees enjoy working there, since everyone is laughing, cracking jokes with customers, and treating customers like friends. These guys are getting my business.... Their store looks packed with good stuff. I went to the Home Depot all the drones go, guess I have a tendency to be one too. I got fluorescent tubes at HD who told me they'd recycle the old ones. Well, I hauled them back and NOPE. I was told to get them out of the store they don't take "those back." Home Depot is community unfriendly and Eco Unfriendly. Duke's guys cheerfully took the old tubes to recycle them. What's more? Their prices were the same as Home Depot. BYE BYE Home Depot. Standing by your products and recycling hazardous items you sell is important to me and should be to everyone else. It is B.S. to lie to customers like Home Depot and then not recycle items you can't just put in your Blue Bin. I hope this helps others to stop going to the corporate stores which are not community nor Eco friendly. read more

The customer service here was just outstanding!....I had called another Ace Hardware about getting a tool to help get a broken light bulb out of the socket and they had the tool but when I asked if they could assist me when I bought the tool they said we can't help you even though I offered to pay them for their help. So I went to Dukes but they didn't have the tool in stock but said buy the tool at the other store and come back and we will help you...no problem and they said you don't have to pay us anything for our labor....Well we couldn't get the bulb out after trying for 15 minutes or so and they said I need a new socket....They said it will take a while to fix though and I said charge me for the labor...I was willing to pay 40 $ or more for their more for than an hour of their time but they only charged me 20$ and the lamp works perfectly...They were just so helpful and knowledgeable and I am not a handy person!....I am so grateful for their help...They are the best! read more

I had to get new florescent lights for my garage. I went in and Hung asked if he could help me. He was great @ explaining to me the best lights and showed me the ones on sale. I took them home just to find out that it wasn't the lights that wasn't working but the ballast in the rack that holds the lights that weren't working. He then showed me the rack with the florescent lights already in it. I took them home and my friend helped me install and now I have lights again in the garage. As others have noted, this place is not as cheap as Home Depot, but presumably they are also not donating millions to GOP election campaigns, exploiting their workers, or engaging in practices designed to drive small hardware stores out of business, so... They have almost everything, even stuff you wouldn't expect a hardware store to have, like camping supplies, the staff is super friendly, and in my opinion prices are roughly competitive, at least for stuff I have bought there. I have come here for everything from getting keys cut to buying an umbrella to picking up the usual screws, bolts, washers, etc. Haters gonna hate, but I think this place is worth an extra few bucks. read more

Buyer beware! No refunds! I came in looking for a tool that would open a lock. They sold me on a tool and guaranteed it would work. When it didn't, they refused to provide a refund and just said there is no returns on tools even when it's their mistake. Next time I need something, I'll drive to Home Depot instead. read more

I bought this crappy bookshelf from Target that I needed to superglue together...so thank goodness I live by Ace Hardware and didn't have to drive all the way to Home Depot. This place can be overwhelming because it's a small store with A LOT of stuff...and everything looks the SAME! Well maybe it just looks the same because I am not a handy man...but it did take me a while to find what I needed. The guys working in there led me to the correct aisle, or else I would have been there all night. I picked up my Gorilla Glue for $4.99 and I was quickly on my way. I definitely recommend coming here for your quick fixes instead of going all the way to Home Depot. They make keys here too! I love this neighborhood hardware store. When I needed to get parts to repair my leaky kitchen sink drain, replace my lamp socket that shorted out or find a way to hook my water hose up to the bathroom faucet, this store had the solution to them all! I get keys made here also and, so far, have not had to get any re-cut; it's done right the first time. The guys here are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their products. They've never steered me wrong about which part I needed to complete the DIY projects. Their store aisles are neatly organized and they also carry regular household, kitchen and bathroom accessories. They seem to have everything. And most important I have found they are no more expensive. It was Benjamin Moore free paint sample day so I went to Duke's ACE Hardware store to get my free sample; I'm painting kitchen cabinets and trying to decide on a color. I think I'm a pretty good DIY-er and have a decent amount of knowledge with each project I attack, however I was blown away with the level of knowledge and customer service I encountered at this small neighborhood hardware store. Tarek is not only a wealth of knowledge, but he was super friendly and extremely helpful with every aspect of my project at hand. He gave me some advice on a specific primer, one I had no knowledge of, and made a few suggestions of how to make my project easier. What happened to the day when customer service was the store's first priority?...well it still exists here. How refreshing! This was my first visit to Duke's ACE Hardware and certainly will not be my last. I have to say that the paint I'm purchasing from Duke's may be a bit more expensive, but it's well worth the attention and education I've received. Keep it up! read more

After years of going to the big box stores trying to find staff that does not have clue what you're talking about when you ask them something. Then someone recommended Duke's after I was lamenting the loss of a well-staffed hardware store. Cole's has gone downhill too. Went in there to ask about a glue that would work to hold a picture holder to the wall. For some reason, Command strips were not working. Not only did the salesperson know exactly know what I needed, he took me over the area where it was. Not only do they know their merchandise, they know where it is and even if you don't know what you need they do!!!! I am a fan!!!! read more

Wow. These guys are great. I came in today with a key problem. I had made some copies of a new key at home depot, which did not fit my lock. They were nice enough to let me use their filer to try and shave off some of the key(100% my stupid idea by the way). This did not solve the problem but they were so nice. Once I got the original key to them, they let me know the key masters at home depot had used the wrong size key. They quickly made me new ones. Both gentlemen working were knowledgable, attentive, and very nice. Glad to have this store in my neighborhood. read more

Should have no star but 1 star is the lowest choice on yelp. When we went to the store to pick up the item, they demanded almost double the the money than we have already paid to online order. Why did they send "ready to pickup" if a customer can not get the item they already paid? Bait and switch? They refused to give us the item unless we paid more to them. We left without the item and expected a refund but they kept the money. The store told me they can not refund the money unless I buy something in that store, when I called them. In order to get my money back, I bought something over the phone. I called them back later to question the new charge, which was high than the item I bought. The person refused to go over the charge with me and complained being spent to much time with me. It should not be that hard, just add the credit - refund + new charges and then, minus the new item price. Instead of realizing their dishonest wasted a lot my time, the person complained he spent too much time with me. They still have the money they over charged me. Save your time and money. Stay away from this place! There are a lot honest hardware store around. read more

I have pretty much always found exactly what I was looking for day to day or for instance in the fires of 2018, they had masks when everywhere was sold out. Now during COVID-19 they are so helpful - you can just order online and they will get it ready for you and deliver it outside. I've had keys made and bought a number of tools and supplies for the house and garden here. The store is an Aladdin's cave -- in the gardening section along I counted five different kinds of clippers across the whole price range, and the supplies section ranges from screws, nuts, bolts, hinges, brackets and braces, through plumbing supplies upstairs, to a good selection of paints. There's also a fair number of tools & accessories, and even a seed section in the gardening dept. The people who run the place are friendly and helpful, and I really like the idea of helping to contribute to our local Sunset economy rather than some massive chain like Home Depot. read more
