    Chicken parm dinner
    Patrick F.

Well doesn't this chicken parm look delicious? That's what I thought until I tried it. Has to be the worst I've ever had. 1st off the chicken was so thinly cut that it was so dry and inedible and almost gray they so over cooked it. And the over use of what tasted like garlic salt in the breading was so over powering that's all you tasted. And yes this is chicken parm but the amount of Parmesan cheese, which seemed like it was from a can not shaved on was disgusting. Pasta was ok though, nothing special. We also had the crispy calamari, which was true to it name. Crispy and over cooked to the point of tasting like you were chewing on rubber. My wife had the cheesesteak sandwich w/mushrooms. There was maybe 2 mushrooms on it and the meat was over cooked. I heard good things about this place and that's why we decided to try it. The only thing good about this place was our waitress and the couple that sat near us we talked to. Other then that I would say this was not a good dining experience at all. I don't like giving bad reviews to restaurants since I know how hard it is to run one, but sorry this place deserved it. Didn't take it out in our waitress, she was very attentive. We actually came in for the pizza but decided once we got there to try some entrees. We should have stuck with the pizza. But now I'm not sure if that would have been a better experience. Maybe we'll give them one more try and grab a pizza next time. But if I could give it zero stars I would have.

Looking for a reasonable spot, check out Duke's this unassuming restaurant set in the heart of Pittstown. With a theme that embodies cards, the 50's era decor leads you to comfortable seating or a counter to order and carry out. There are a variety of Italian choices from salads with a great homemade vinaigrette to a fantastic penne vodka that will warm you from the inside out. Gluten Free? No worries, ask for gluten free pasta to meet the needs of all your dining family and friends. The establishment is loosely run and is BYO. I promise it is a spot that you will be happy you stumbled upon.

It's GREAT to have something in this space after the Donatello's disaster! Duke's isn't Perricones, unfortunately, (most notably in the bread and pizza dough departments) but it's not bad either. Nice folks and good food. Having had quite a few things from the menu I can say that the pizza is good. The sandwiches and strombolis are excellent. The breakfast sandwiches are mediocre. The coffee is terrible. The service is amateur. BYOB is great. The place seems to be having a bit of an identity crisis with their menu offerings beyond the traditional pizza/deli/sandwich type stuff. On weekends there are dinner specials, kind of 'fancier' menu offerings, but they just don't seem to fit the atmosphere of the place in my opinion. The specials are often good, it just feels strange eating them there. It's a deli and pie place to me. Always will be. There are a few improvements, ordered according to my personal priority, that the owners could make for some quick wins toward a better patron experience: 1. Please spend more time training (and then supervising) the staff. Most of them are kids, I get it, but unless the adult woman behind the counter is present the service can be downright terrible - and no one seems to care. 2. Please adjust the color temperature of the lighting. I realize that there is a dentist's office next door, but you don't need to use the same lighting scheme. It feels downright sterile. Something a little dimmer and warmer would really improve the atmosphere, particularly at dinner. 3. Speaking of sterile - please put the dumpster in the parking lot behind the restaurant! Patrons should NEVER see garbage, much less have to move out of the way as the employees who are also preparing the food carry it through the front entrance... This also takes up already-limited parking.

Couple of things: I can't understand why some meatheads criticize this place due to "excessive noise". If you know anything about being Italian, it's ALL about the noise! The atmosphere is cozy and I am told by locals that the pizza used to be really really great and now it's "good" in my opinion. There is one thing in which they are making I think a huge mistake. And I tell you this with love and I mean, I'm telling the staff and particularly the beautiful and talented Owner. The constant interruption of clapping and yelling of happy birthday is very TGIF. It does not suit your cozy, inviting charming atmosphere. It appears that everyone goes to have this done to them because the last time I was there, and I've just moved to town recently, it happened four times in one night the guess I was entertaining eventually started, rolling their eyes and covering their ears There must be a better way to celebrate each birthday that feels special to that person without screaming and yelling and interrupting this tiny room of people who are dining with you each night. It's worth problem-solving and coming up with a better solution. That charming Italian later could simply come up to the table and softly speak Italian to the table and several sentences and deliver your dessert with a candle in it, and everyone will be charmed. It's unique, he can speak Italian, he's handsome... And that would be incredibly memorable. ‍ Keep up the great work and please consider doing a simple reversion of your artichoke hearts. Less is more. Italian food is my most favorite favorite food. I lived in Italy and I've lived in New York and I think you can deliver an even better quality of food by fine-tuning your main recipes. You want this New Yorker to rave about your food so that out-of-towners Who are used to the best come to you because of all of your raving reviews that are of New York City standards as well as Italy. And I might mention that the other restaurants you own are at the same standard as a great NEW YORK eatery. Pound your chicken paper, thin for your Parmesan, you're lasagna noodles should be thinner than thin... But you know this you understand Italian food. Go for it I want you to be the best in town so that I can eat there once a week!!

But before I go into the food, let me address something I've never seen before on a bill. I ordered a Bourbon mixed with Diet Coke and the $15 charge was broken into three separate charges: $12 for whiskey; $2.50 for "whiskey prep rocks" (adding ice?); and $1.50 for "whiskey prep mixed" (mixing it?). What???? The first proseco served to another diner was outright flat, it was replaced. Meal. I ordered veal scalloppine picata and the meat tasted nothing like veal as it was a tough chew. My wife had the shrimp with risotto and she said the shrimp was ok but risotto was flavorless. Indeed, it's the first time I ever saw almost all the risotto left on the plate. The chicken milanesa someone else ordered came out cold in the first round and properly replaced with a new serving however everyone else's meal had to wait so we could eat together. Our waitress was nice but not very experienced and perhaps a little flustered. Brought out the dinners but hadn't bussed the appetizer plates in advance, It's actually not her job so I think they just lack help. The clams and sausage appetizer was very good. Perhaps the place had a bad night, but frankly for $300 with tip for 4 people was simply not worth it. Glad we tried it but it will likely be a one and done for us.

I can see why this restaurant was chosen. We were a group of 10 people celebrating a Christmas Party. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The dining room itself was lovely. It was decorated beautifully with Christmas decorations, a large Christmas Tree in the corner. They have a mantle over the fireplace that was lit up and decorated with Christmas lights. What made this room extra special was the gigantic fireplace that had a roaring fire going as we sat and enjoyed our food and each other's company. The setting was traditional and on each wall were framed pictures. I kind of felt like I was in a Southern home. In a separate room was a nice size bar with flatscreen TV's. We started off with cocktails and appetizers. The dishes that were chosen: MUSSELS ALA VINO- I got them in a marinara sauce with garlic crostini for dipping. The mussels were delicious. CALAMARI FRUTTI- fried calamari with capers, black olives, sun dried tomatoes, and caramelized onions. Along with TRADITIONAL FRIED CALAMARI-with MARINARA. Both Calamari' dishes were delicious. MOZZARELLA EN CAROZZA- Served with marinara sauce. These were crunchy and the middle oozed with fresh melted mozzarella. LITTLE NECK CLAMS AND SAUSAGE- Lemon, garlic, herbs, crostini. These clams were sweet and smokey from the sausage. WINGS- (Medium Heat) the wings were crispy and flavorful. For my entree I chose their Special. STUFFED FLOUNDER WITH CRABMEAT-It was light and tasty. It also came with a vegetable risotto, which was really delicious. Other dishes that were chosen were PORK OSSO BUCCO-Vegetable risotto, and pan gravy POLLO PARMIGIANA-Boneless breast of chicken breaded with marinara and melted mozzarella POLLO MILANESE-Boneless breast of chicken pan-fried topped with arugula, onions, tomato, balsamic vinaigrette SALMON-Pan-roasted salmon with pesto sauce, seasonal vegetable saute, roasted potatoes GAMBERI SCAMPI-Jumbo shrimp, lemon, garlic, herbs, over spaghetti PENNE VODKA-Peas, prosciutto, a touch of cream, tomato, and a splash of vodka. We then went on to desserts. TIRAMISU, LEMON SORBET, TARTUFO, ICE CREAM SUNDAE, RED VELVET CAKE. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their dinner and their desserts. It was a very relaxing and peaceful evening. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. Even the owner came over and checked on us. I would definitely return and try some other dishes.

I tried the pear salad which came with walnuts and gorgonzola cheese in a balsamic vinaigrette. Both were a good start to the meal. For the main course, my wife ordered the flounder francaise. It was prepared in a lemon chardonnay sauce with capers and artichokes, which she really enjoyed. I decided to go with the scallop and shrimp special which was pan seared and served with sliced asparagus risotto in a saffron chardonnay lemon sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly and very fresh. It's a BYOB, so keep that in mind if you want to bring a bottle of wine along. However, if you forget, they do have a selection of bottles for sale from Alba Vineyard. We'll definitely be returning in the future to try some of their other traditional Italian favorites.
