Tip & first impressions: Parking in side lot or on the street. Open, clean interior with lots of room. The staff is well educated, and it has a nice menu. Review: Dulce Vida was written up in our local newspaper, Life on Capital Hill. After having read the article, we made it a point to go the very next day. I am so very glad we did. Interior - Let's call it "Industrial Sports Bar." Nice, clean, large, open, not crowded, or at least, not yet. Blacks, grays, steel, with beige thrown in. Clean lines of sight, very little clutter (or walls, etc.) to distract you from watching the large number of tvs (I believe there are about 10 or so). Actually, it's one large room . There are 3 of those large garage type doors, which when opened, let in the gorgeous Colorado sunshine, and you can pull up a seat, and enjoy the view! There are 7 large community type tables, with high metal stools (with no backs). Several of the other tables did have high chairs that had backs. So, don't fret, there is plenty of seating for all. Oh, did I mention, that this place can easily hold at least 85 people, after counting the chairs! WOW! Bar- a large bar that can comfortably hold at least 15 - 16 people. The extra glasses and such, that all bars have to stock, are up on shelves, that are hung from the ceiling. As I said earlier, there really is a clean line of sight inside the restaurant. Your views are not blocked by anything. I really liked this! After ordering, I did walk around, and I saw there is a smaller room, towards the back, and there was a pool table back there - nice! Further investigation, looking out the windows, revealed a nice size patio in the back. No tables or chairs, yet, but I'm sure that will be remedied soon. I asked Ally, our waitress, how long the establishment had been opened, and she said 1 week. So, give them some time, and I'm sure there will be tables and chairs back there soon. I can't wait to enjoy the patio! Menu - small, yet good. Granted, we only had two things from the menu, which were the Chicharonnes and the Buffalo Meatloaf Burger. The Chicharonnes were good, just the right bite size to munch on and enjoy with your beer. The Buffalo Meatloaf Burger was very good. I can't say that I've ever had a hamburger made that way, but they definitely have a winner there! We will definitely order the burger again, and the Chicharonnes again too. Service - excellent! Ally, our waitress, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very pleasant. She remembered our names, and gave just the right amount of service. She was very knowledgeable about the food (how things were made, spices, etc.). She even started out by asking if we had any food allergies, which is unheard of! I've very rarely had a waitress or waiter ask me that question. Smart! This way, she could gently guide us through the menu. Menu - good selection of Appetizers, Jailbreaks, Burgers, Serving Concurrently, Cups and Bowls, as well as Salads. If you are wondering what the Jailbreaks are, you will have to go, and find out for yourself. Prices - normal everyday prices Parking - side lot or on the street. I'm not sure, but I believe there is parking in the back as well, but don't quote me on that. So, after such a great review, why only 3 stars, you ask? Came here for brunch and to watch the NFL championship game and had the $8 bottomless mimosas. I guess the mimosas could have been better...wasn't really a fan of the brut that they used, but it was okay. I ordered the Pork Belly Benedict and it was overall, decent as well. I wasn't a huge fan of the fact that the dish was somewhat cold, especially how they put the pork and egg on top of the room temperature corn bread, ugh that corn bread really made it not as appetizing. What was really good on the plate though were the fried potatoes, they had great texture and were quite addicting. I was torn to rate the restaurant at four (4) or five (5) stars, it was quite wonderful for my first visit! A small group decided to try Dulce Vida for Sunday brunch and it was perfect! Each member of our group tried a different brunch item & no one was disappointed! I tried the Southwest Benedict and I didn't leave a single bite! The staff were very friendly & attentive. Oh Dulce Vida, how sad it makes me to have to give you such a low score. So I have been going here almost weekly with my classmates for the past few months since it's super close to school. Normally, we have a great time eating food, playing games and get schwasted and if I would have rated it any of those times, I would have given it 5 stars. That being said, I spent last Friday incredibly sick hours after leaving Dulce Vida. I would have thought it was just a bug BUT then I talked to my classmates and some of them had the same thing happen. I was going to chalk it up to just a bad night but last night, yet another person got the same illness (cramps, barfing, etc) after eating there. An update...Went here today for Saturday brunch (it's our 5th visit but first time for brunch). We sat at the bar and got excellent service. Sean was our bartender, he was friendly, knowledgeable and very engaging. He recommended trying their new summer brew on tap which was a dried apricot blonde beer by dry dock..it was awesome!! I ordered their crab and crawfish benedict and my boyfriend had their chicken fried chicken again. And without disappointment both food items were delishhhhhhhh!! I am obsessed with their hashbrowns that they serve with brunch...crunchy and full of flavor, def a must try! We have never been disappointed with food here, the chicharonnes are great, the spinach and artichoke dip is creamy and tasty. We always look forward to come here every time and have brought some friends and they all love this place too. I've been here twice for happy hour so far. It's a weird crowd - half dive bar, half young working professionals from the neighborhood. The food is surprisingly good and the beer selection is decent. Good pricing on happy hour. The service is spotty, but, as with any new'ish restaurant/bar, I'm hopeful that management will separate the wheat from the chaff. I visited Dulce Vida on Friday On my lunch break. I've never been before but I have heard good things about it from my coworkers. So I figured I would give it a try. The bartender, Kimmi, was very friendly and engaging. She got our drinks to us right away and gave us a menu for lunch. She gave great recommendations on the food. She told us to try the Mexican hamburger. Which was delicious. The green chili was some of the best I've ever had!!! I will definitely be back on Friday afternoons to come. Food( we had everything from the buffalo meat loaf , steak and onions and the chicken fried chicken) was served slightly warm, veggies appeared on the verge of turning and appearance was unremarkable. I would give this 0 stars if Yelp let me. Last Monday 8/12/2019 we went to Dulce Vida for lunch to celebrate a few birthday's at work. We decided on this place because it was right up the street and had ok bar food. So 10 of us left work at 11:30 for the quick ten minute walk to Dulce. We got there and were seated right away and got our drinks pretty quickly as well. Everyone arrived at the same time and knew what they wanted to eat really quickly. This is where things started to go down hill. First off the one lady working there was the only one. I totally get this as I was a server and bartender and got surprised by lunch rushes in the past. The way this person chose to handle it was rude and off putting. After taking all of our orders we waited about 30 minutes and my lunch came out on it's own. I felt weird and didn't want to eat in front of everyone so I tried to wait. And the next order would come out 10 minutes later, and then another ten minutes later. The last person didn't get their meal until over an hour after we ordered. This is bar food! Mostly wraps and it took forever. Not only that she delivered a quesadilla that was supposed to be beef to someone and it was SHRIMP. He is allergic to seafood. He asked for the beef one AGAIN and it didn't come out until everyone had finished their food. At this point he asked for a box since we were ready to pay. By the time she got around to bringing the box and checks he decided he didn't want to risk his food being spit in and told her he didn't want it. She never once said sorry for almost killing him and she never said sorry about how slow the kitchen was. It was absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced. She was hustling for sure but avoided eye contact at all cost. I know this is not her fault as the kitchen was VERY SLOW but she was rude and didn't even seem to care that we spent 1.5 hours waiting on bar food on our lunch. Needless to say we will never be going back to this spot. We had a few people from work walk in half way through the ordeal and we told them to leave due to the terrible experience and service. Dulce Vida feels like a fun neighborhood bar, and makes me wish I lived in their neighborhood so I could visit more often. We went on a Tuesday evening and they were still fairly lively, with the bar nearly full despite the tables being mostly empty. Their menu is fun, with lots of great appetizers and some great looking meal options. We stuck to the appetizers, and had a few pretzels with our beer. They were very hot and tasty, with house made mustard and cheese sauce. Drink prices were reasonable, even after happy hour, and the service was fast and friendly. We'll be back for sure! read more
