Between March 4 and March 16, I had my VW timing chain replaced at this location. Upon picking up the vehicle, I immediately noticed a watery, clear fluid leaking. Since I was charged for coolant replacement, I suspected it was coolant. When I informed the manager, I was instructed to drive the car for a month and return. After three weeks, the leak worsened. I returned to the shop, where the manager personally touched and tasted the fluid to confirm it was not oil. However, their technician misdiagnosed it as an oil leak and quoted thousands of dollars in repairs, which I refused. After driving just 300 miles, the engine's coolant warning light came on. I brought the car back, only to be told the leak was an unrelated issue and that I needed to pay extra to fix the auxiliary water pump. Given that the leak appeared the exact day I picked the car up and I had no such issues beforehand, I strongly believe the auxiliary water pump was damaged during the timing chain repair. Or technician did not place the cover tight and well and had the coolant leak causing water pump broke down. In any event, they should have checked what happened when I went back twice, instead, they gave all excuses turned out to be false. read more

December 29, 2025 I brought my car to Dulles Automotive INC for an emissions test and state inspection: * My vehicle failed the state inspection due to alleged defective brakes and rotors. Details of Inspection Failure: Technician Khang A. Nguyen called me to the service bay and asked me to touch the rotors, stating that they were rough and grooved and should be smooth. He claimed this roughness caused the brakes to fail. I informed him that my front brakes and rotors had been replaced in October 2024. He insisted, "There is no way they could have been changed," and that I needed new brakes and rotors to pass inspection. I also mentioned that NTB had just replaced my tires and checked my brakes/rotors the day prior, with no issues reported. The technician could not explain why NTB would not have noticed defective brakes. Interaction with Front Desk Clerk (Bree) Inside, I spoke with the front desk clerk, Bree, who stated that Jiffy Lube (where my brakes and rotors were previously replaced) did not complete the job correctly. She claimed Jiffy Lube hires inexperienced staff, with no licenses to perform auto maintenance. She advised that she was surprised that NTB did not report brake issues upon installing my new tires. She immediately offered to have new parts delivered in 15 minutes and assured me the job would be done in under 20 minutes. Repair and Billing Issues * The quoted price for parts and labor was $423. * The final bill was $506.48, nearly $100 over the quote. Follow-Up Actions Jiffy Lube: I returned to Jiffy Lube and spoke with the technician who had previously replaced my brakes. I informed him that Dulles Automotive had claimed there was no way the rotors had been replaced, and that only the brake pads had been changed. The technician expressed surprise at this assertion and stated that there must have been a mistake. He offered to inspect the removed parts if I could bring them back to the shop. He further explained that, had there been any issues with the parts or installation, he would have been required to notify both the manufacturer and the store's General Manager. As a gesture of goodwill, and pending approval from the General Manager, he offered to replace my rear brake pads and rotors free of charge if it could be demonstrated that the previously installed parts were defective. I agreed to retrieve the allegedly defective materials from Dulles Automotive and return them to Jiffy Lube for inspection. Dulles Automotive: I returned to Dulles Automotive to request the parts that had been removed from my vehicle during the recent brake and rotor replacement. The staff appeared surprised by my request. The front desk clerk instructed me to meet her at the back of the shop, where she indicated the rotors had been discarded in the dumpster. I found it concerning that items classified as hazardous materials, such as used rotors, were disposed of in a regular dumpster rather than following proper dangerous waste protocols. A technician then handed me the removed brake pads, which were neatly placed in the box that had contained the new brake pads. Upon inspection, the brake pads appeared to be in good condition with no visible defects. I also found it inconsistent that the brake pads were retained and presented to me in a box, while the rotors were discarded in the dumpster at the rear of the store. This irregular handling of removed automotive parts raises concerns regarding both environmental compliance and the transparency of their repair practices. Jiffy Lube: The manager inspected the removed parts and confirmed that both the brakes and rotors were in good condition. He explained that the roughness described by Dulles Automotive was normal for a high-performance vehicle like mine. He used a measuring tool to check the brake pad thickness and confirmed they were well within the safe range. I took a picture of this as evidence. Dulles Automotive I returned to Dulles Automotive to request to speak with the owner. The front desk clerk stated, "He is never here." She became argumentative when I reported my findings. She advised that Jiffy Lube was "just trying to save their own ass. That there should be no grooves. That rotors and brake pads were defective and had to be changed." Again, I was surprised as she would not have expertise, nor was she part of the inspection process. I requested a written statement from the technician regarding his findings; she took my email address but never followed up. I honestly wasn't going to post my review; however, the response I've just received from the shop's owner was disheartening, as it was full of dishonesty. As they've blamed me when in fact they took advantage of my lack of knowledge and their insistence that if I had left, I could harmed myself and someone else. FRIENDLY SERVICE, BUT QUESTIONABLE REPAIR STANDARDS. I agree with those who have pointed out unethical practices here. While Bree is indeed as helpful and kind as everyone says, great customer service doesn't make up for improper mechanical work. Last year (Feb 2025), I paid Dulles Exxon to replace a flex pipe to pass my state inspection. This year (Feb 2026), I returned for my inspection, only for the pipe to fail again. The reason? The technician found the pipe had been "sealed with caulk"--an improper and temporary fix for an exhaust component. When I asked them to stand by their work, the service manager claimed it was "out of warranty." They offered to cover the $50 part but demanded I pay the labor costs to fix a mistake they made in the first place. I shouldn't have to pay twice for a repair that wasn't done correctly (or safely) the first time. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. read more

While I was at the front desk, I observed an employee speak harshly to a man who appeared to be making a delivery and was speaking Spanish with limited English. Outstanding Service from Bree at Dulles Exxon I stopped by Dulles Exxon because my engine had started making a knocking noise, and I asked Bree (Breeanne), the service manager, if she could take a quick look. She immediately came outside to help and, impressively, was able to identify the issue before we even opened the hood. Bree really knows her stuff -- she explained the problem clearly and gave me a quote right away. I wasn't sure if the price was fair, so I checked with my regular mechanic, and even he said it was cheaper than what he could do! I scheduled a time, brought my car in, and they got everything done the same day. It was such a pleasant, professional experience from start to finish. Went in for a safety inspection- the shop staff said he can pass me, but when I went to the front to check in with Nick, he offered to replace some parts I needed to change. When I rejected his offer he called back his staff and told them to fail my test. When I went back to the shop staff he acted like he never said he would pass me sounds like Nick and his staff need to be on the same page with what's considered a pass or not with these check ins. This place is under new management. Avoid at all cost. Such a shame, because the last gentleman was wonderful to work with. Not only did they fail the inspection on a 3 year old Jeep with 30,000 miles, Ali is unprofessional, rude, and frankly aggressive. Completely uncalled for. Upon handing me a printed out VA reg with the inspection guidance on what failed, I began to ask questions to understand since what he communicated was not what was written. When politely asking him to read what he handed me, as it clearly stated there was an exception and it clearly said it should not be failed, he yelled and stated, "I am not braking the law for you." I used to come to this place consistently for years. Once that Vietnamese guy left, they started to fail my cars. Last year, they said my breaks needed to be fixed, and they failed me. I looked at my breaks, and they were definitely thinner, but not to the point of failing inspection. They went as far as to ask if I wanted to have their mechanics do it now because they were available for a fee of $500. I said no thank you. I am a woman and I think they are scamming me out of my money. So I left and was passed at another gas station. This year, 2024, they failed me for my head lights. They said it was foggy and they wanted to do the work "right now" and charge me $100 for THAT!! I can't believe how much of a rip off and scam this place has gotten to be. Ridiculous. Had a wonky tire that was losing air. Went to go check it out and left the keys with them. Front desk was really friendly and helpful. Came back when they called, turns out that there was no puncture in the tire, which they did the whole dip test for. Had a chat speculating as to why tire was losing air, not a puncture. Still filled the tire pressure to the recommended psi without my request. Refused payment as they, "Didn't have to do anything, so no need to take a payment". How refreshing. How does 45min to 1 hour turn into exactly 2 hours for 1 wheel stud replacement? They did not even have the correct parts nor the lug on hand when they took it to the back and took the wheel apart so we couldn't even leave (must not have been first time). My daughter had to wait 1 hour in the middle of the road 90 degrees because they didn't have the part on hand. If they had told us that we would have went next time. The car just sat on the car lift for 1.5 hours waiting for the part to come. They said the part would be there 10min turned out almost 1 hour and they even had to send someone else to pick it up because they never showed up. At that point I don't even think they sent another person out they probably took it off someone else's car because its not even the same one. They did not mention it will be different one either they should have mentioned it wont be same lug we had originally. The person that was working there clearly wanted to avoid the after talk because he was on the phone with another employee telling them they shouldn't be out eating lunch with company car. He kept him on the phone while giving me the keys and bills to pay at the register. He spend 3 extra min giving me the paper. He was still on the phone with them while I paid as soon as I turn he walks out to workshop. AS SOON AS I WALKED OUT THE STORE HE CAME RIGHT BACK IN OFF THE PHONE! I guess that's how he AVOIDS customer after holding them EXTRA 1 HOUR non matching lug! BE ON THE PHONE WITH YOUR EMPLOYEE not even notifying customer. HOW PROFESSIONAL to be on phone with another employee while facing customer. About a month or so ago, my wife was heading with our one month old to a doctors appointment and she felt her car lurch forward and then all of the lights on her dash went off. Luckily for her this happened right in front of Dulles Exxon. She pulled in, called me and I told her to have the guys at Dulles check it out. The gentlemen that helped her (I spoke to them when they were explaining the issue) found the issue, which was a broken oil cap, contacted the place we had just had our oil changed at, and got the problem fixed. They worked with the oil change company to get payment from them, since it was clearly a mistake on the oil companies part. That is great service right? Let me be clear, they went above and beyond. Remember my wife was heading to a doctors appointment? They provided her with a car, helped her get the child seat set up. They could have easily told her she had to wait until it was ready, or not helped get her to the doctors appointment, but they did. Car was up and running when she got back from the doctors and we haven't had a problem with it since then so they did a great job. read more

Guy pulled it in and seven minutes pulled it out and advised the (3 year old) front struts were leaking. Took it right down the road to a reputable repair shop. A couple of weeks ago I took my car in to this shop because it was due for a yearly inspection. I've been having it inspected here for about 6 years now. The inspection line can sometimes get really long depending on the day and time you choose to go. I personally like to go in the middle of the month, first thing in the morning during a weekday. I noticed there's rarely a line during that time. This is the first time in all my years of bringing my car here that it failed inspection. I needed rear breaks and changing the rotors was also recommended. I decided to have my car repaired in order to get the inspection sticker I needed. I was told that the parts would have to be ordered and would arrive within 30 minutes and the total wait time would be about an hour and a half. I waited. While waiting for the parts to arrive, the mechanic began to take things apart to save time. The parts arrived in about 20 minutes and he got right to getting my car repaired. Unfortunately, he discovered that I also needed wheel bearings. He offered to take half off of the labor price to replace the wheel bearings since they were already in that area replacing the breaks and rotors. Before agreeing to having any work done on my car, I googled the average price for the work that was needed for my car make and model. The price I was quoted fell within the 'normal' price range and actually fell on the lower end of the range. I didn't expect to spend more than the inspection price when I walked into the shop, however, I'm happy my car was repaired. I didn't realize until after I left how much more smoother my car felt thanks to the wheels bearings that I really needed. The customer service was great, the mechanics are knowledgeable and their prices are reasonable for the work I needed. A lot cheaper than the place I currently take my car to for oil changes. I'm really considering making this station my oil change home too. Good job guys! read more

Another gas station review, but HEAR ME OUT as a bashing needs to take place. This gas station may have the single slowest pumps ever created. Like, so slow that they go beyond pet peeve for an uptight, borderline OCD nutjob (i.e. me) and goes into nuisance and hindrance for normal people. I'm using actual data, collected by me, in the claim that the pumps here take ~26 seconds per gallon. Gas pump throughput probably isn't a commonly thought about statistic but extrapolate that towards a 12 gallon tank (that's on the low side) and you're looking at over a 5 minute fill-up. Does that appall you?? Because I was appalled. I had the patience to get through 4 gallons before I just gave up and figured I'd get gas the next time I came across a more capable pump. Even the passengers in my car were getting restless and curious as to what was taking so long. I know that my tolerance for waiting might be lower than some people. I get pissed at how slow people function in buffet lines and I make a stink about it. I once sat down and timed a particular slowpoke and then got up and blew away their buffet plate building time. I'm not sure what the average gas pump time should be, but I do know that I can almost always be listening to a song on the radio, pump my gas, and then return to hear the end of the song. Unless I'm listening to the 1812 overture that would not be possible here. This Exxon is now the second gas station (the first being the 30% above market value BP in Vienna) that I will consciously avoid. And if you value your time, I suggest you do as well. read more

There is no quicker way to get me to go back home in the midst of my errands on a Saturday morning than to piss me off and force me to write a scathing Yelp Review of your company. I am actually pretty disappointed because this has been my go to shop for a while and they are literally the closest thing to my house. So I hate that I am now considering looking for a new shop altogether. I got up insanely early on a Saturday and completed my biannual rites of passage of waiting in line to get my emissions inspection completed to have my tags renewed. I was 3rd in line and once they actually opened, they didn't take long at all to get our cars into the bays. Cool. As expected, my car passed. I informed the Service Advisors that in addition to my emissions I also needed an oil change. I was inside of the shop and heard what I knew was my car's engine start....weird, I thought to myself. Especially since no one had informed me that my car was done and ready. I waited for about 7 minutes and no one came into the shop to talk to me.....so I began to worry just a smidge; there were literally 30 cars in line and they were moving so fast who knows what could have happened. I walked over to the Inspector and asked him where my car was. This S.O.B. replied "I don't know, go ask someone else"!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE MY CAR IS?!?!??! Needless to say, pure panic set in!! My immediate thought was that they had accidentally given my keys to someone. I went inside and the cashier had not been given my keys or a bill for my services. He panicked too!! We both frantically started searching their entire lot and finally found my car getting the oil change completed on a small random side service bay. Now, be it, my car is OK. HOWEVER, this incident could have been completely prevented had the Inspector not been a jerk at 8AM in the morning and actually stopped to communicate with his customer and just let me know who he gave my keys to and allowed them to drive off with my car. His flippant attitude caused not only a loyal customer to freak out, but also scared the hot piss out of his own coworker who walked with me in a panic to find my car Yes, the poor cashier did apologize profusely and asked if I was OK. But at that point, the damage had been done. I am pissed and my heart just stopped racing. I am looking forward to speaking with the manager on Monday...and telling every body who crosses my path about this! What an IDIOT!!! read more

I stopped here because I HAD too... or I would have been forced to push Vinny (my car) down Route 50. The location is great if you are going West on 50, and are planning on continuing West. Lord help you if you try to get back on 50 by taking Centreville Road... it will NEVER happen! Gas is a little higher priced... but the closest station from there is Greenbrier, and I was sucking on fumes. The place is just overpriced. They are the only gas station right off of 50 in the area and their gas prices show it. They are always at least 10-20 cents higher per gallon than other stations because there isn't any competition, and if you need gas, you're stuck with them. They also have a service station. I have to ask myself, if they will will take advantage of the consumer with their gas prices, wouldn't they do it with their service? I won't go there for service and only for a couple gallons of gas if I'm desperate. read more

This place was on my way and there wasn't a line so I stopped in to get an inspection. I'd just had my car in the shop for a tune up and fix so I could sell it. I'd spent $1500 on fixes, so I knew it was good to go. Imagine my shock when they told me it failed because my parking lights were "burnt out" and my headlights were "too oxidized." I went outside and showed the inspector that every light bulb on the car worked and asked how he expected me to fix something that wasn't broken. He said, "OK. Just clean the headlights and bring it back." I knew the headlights were fine since I'd just had it in the shop, so I took it to another inspection station where it passed with no issues. I don't know if they're just trying to scam for some money from cheap fixes or if they didn't like me or if they're just incompetent.
