I had the most horrible experiences, yes more than once with the actual rover dealership in the area which made me extremely cautious on what was actually going on with my vehicle. So I searched for a new mechanic as I needed some work done. I'm very Happy with the choice. They were upfront with what was needed, pricing was very reasonable , different part options were explained and the time it would take was set. THIS PLACE IS GOD SENT! After finally realizing that my family and I were being taken advantage of at another facility, we solicited for input from our FaceBook community page for advice. To our delight, Linda and her team were advocated by nearly 15 people in less than 10 minutes. Needless to say, we ran to their facility (figuratively) and were welcomed with open arms. The team is comprised by a small group of professionals who were courteous, knowledgable, and expedient in their repair of our vehicle. Without them, we would have been charged in excess of $1400 in comparison to the other location that shall remain nameless (see my other reviews and you'll know who they are). What was most impressive - they made time for an evaluation of our vehicle the same day, did not charge for the estimate of possible cost, and returned our vehicle the next day. I just want to give a shout out to Will and Linda at Dulles South Chantilly Automotive! They are honest, hardworking and dedicated to providing excellent car care for their customers. My husband and I have entrusted our cars to Dulles South Chantilly Automotive for the last 4 years. Recently I brought my 2018 vehicle to a chain tire/auto company for an oil change and when I picked my car up, my check engine light was on. This other company also told me that I needed nearly $600 in work done on my car. I thanked them for the feedback and immediately called DSCA to make an appointment (especially since my check engine light went on immediately after my appointment with the chain company). DSCA inspected my car, discovered that the oil cap and other caps were not on correctly secured which is why my check engine light went on. They also let me know that I did not need all of the work the other company said I did. I apologized to DSCA for getting in for a quick appointment at the other place since I know my car is in better hands with our trusted family mechanic. DSCA refused to accept payment for this check up which is why I am writing a review . . . they do a great job and are fair to their customers and deserve payment for their good work! I wish I could review the actual service, but the problem is I haven't been able to bring my car in yet despite 3 separate attempts to do so. A few weeks ago, someone came to my door soliciting "VIP Service Memberships" for $30 that had $600 worth of coupons and no expiration date. With 5 free oil changes, 3 state inspections, it seemed like it would pay for itself pretty quickly. All 3 times I have called, including this morning, they haven't had an available appointment until at least 5 days later. Today I was told they were closed all of Memorial Day Weekend. I called VA Tire and Auto in South Riding and they told me they were open every day this weekend and all I had to do was bring my car by this evening and they would take care of me. Now THAT is actual VIP Service. I still plan to use my coupons for Chantilly Automotive because I paid for them, and they don't expire. I guess I'll just need to plan at least a week in advance. read more

Well I tried to give them a fair shot, but the reality is that this shop just isn't run by top-quality mechanics. Nice guys, and they seem to be willing to give anything a shot, but they don't know what they're doing. Maybe they're good for routine maintenance and other simple stuff. But I do that myself. First task was I had them replace a transmission last year on my '90 TC by Maserati that blew its planetary gear, after deciding that the guys at the desk were a personable bunch and based on reviews here of their actual service. I figured it'd be a pretty simple swap and promises that it would be ready soon assured me it was going to be worthwhile. Price seemed more than fair. But over a week of waiting to get it back and I was pretty frustrated considering I called them almost daily for some kind of update, but at least happy that I had it back in my hands in functional order. Unfortunately, I got back almost to my house with the temp gauge reading higher than I had ever seen it. Fortunately I live close by, because when I pulled in the driveway and let the car cool down, I opened the radiator and discovered it was bone dry. They forgot to refill it after doing all that work. Annoyed, but whatever, we all forget things sometimes right? I wasn't going to let it be a dealbreaker with them because otherwise the car seemed good. Occasional hiccup in shifting gears, but I brought them a used transmission and suspected it had more to do with that than their installation. Second and third interactions were over the phone discussions about my lines on the same car. First something had put a hole in my return fuel line, and I asked them if they could fix it, and they said sure and to drop it off and they'd get to it. Thing is, I had called 2 other shops who said they could get it done in an hour. Okay, so maybe they're busy, I get that. The other call was when I had marred my brake line while I was replacing my brakes. They said I could drop it off the next morning and they could work on it but again, this was really a small task. Not something I should have to wait a couple days for. So I decided I'll use them just for big stuff. Final chance I gave them was for them to swap out the transmission on my El Camino in May from a 200-C to a TH350 after I lost reverse gear. Should be a simple swap as it is ultimately the same transmission MINUS electronic controls. They said it should take about 2 days. Ended up being 2 weeks. First issue was my fault, I had again brought them a used transmission but it was no good, so they had to pull it back out. However, I'd have to fault them partially as they raised concerns with me about the transmission BEFORE testing, but AFTER installing. If it wasn't going to work, it would have been great to have warned me in advance because I wasn't exactly putting a gun to their head to use it. So I bought a rebuilt TCI unit and shipped it there from Summit. Also ordered a kickdown cable and dipstick, as requested. After waiting a third week, they finally told me it was ready. I get in, go home, seems to drive fine. Wake up the next day: puddle of trans fluid on the ground. Turns out it was leaking from where the dipstick goes into the trans. I told them the issue and how to fix it, and I went back not once or twice, but 3 times to have them fix it. Somehow I ended up buying an extra dipstick (yet they kept one of them) and even though I requested to keep all of the transmissions, they ended up keeping the 200-C. To top it all off, when they gave the car back to me, they said they could not hook up the kickdown cable and just gave it back to me. In essence: nice guys, but they either lack care and attention to detail or are seriously out of their element when they say they can fix it. I only post this now because the trans is again leaking (WAY too early for more problems!) and will no longer be looking for answers from these guys. Maybe they treat some customers better than others. Honestly I thought if I gave them enough business that they'd give more attention to my services. Cheap up front, but using them was a headache for me. Hopefully not a money pit as well when I figure out where the leak is this time. read more

Got my car in, and after a minor parts hick-up (zero fault of theirs), I got my car back the next day. When I came in with my car, they chatted with me while I waited and then Willy reviewed the work that was done on my car specifically showing me the parts of the car that were repaired and commenting on the quality of the work. As it turned out, the repair work was top notch. Unfortunately I won't be able to write a great review for that collision shop because their communication was poor and it created a situation where I felt I could not trust them with my vehicle. Luckily, Willy put my mind at ease. He was also honest with me when I asked him if he could replace my tires when the time comes. He said, "I can replace your tires but my volume is not as high as Costco's. They will be able to beat my rate by $300." So, while I may go to Costco for tires, I will go to Chantilly Automotive for all other repair work. I got an oil change here and I didn't have any problems with my car. People there are very friendly. My only problem was that I had made an appointment and was told the oil change would take about an hour, well about 2.5 hours later I finally left the place. I felt like my time wasn't important. I travel from Leesburg to Chantilly Automotive, and I've learned my lesson that they're definitely worth the trip!! Recently I took my car to a place closer to home for convenience, and it cost me! My car had a vapor leak and this other garage replaced a part but the problem immediately returned. When I took it back two more times because of the same symptoms, this other garage simply found other parts to replace at additional charges not covered by the original repair warranty. After the 3rd time I decided to take it to someone I trusted and had used before, Chantilly Automotive, Chris and Willy. They're simply the best!! They took their time and instead of guessing what could be causing the leak, they did a smoke test to trace the leak. They found that the original part replaced by the first garage was defective! These guys are honest and trustworthy and very fairly priced. Lesson learned for me, I'm sticking with Chantilly Automotive from now on! read more

Chantilly Automotive continues to be trust worthy. I have never noticed they do maintenance work before it should be done. Example 1: When my Toyota was recalled for airbags, the dealership recommended maintenance unrelated to the recall. The mechanic at Chantilly Automotive explained the recommended maiTrstntenance was not needed. Example 2: Engine Coolant Service: I work from home and do not put many miles on my car. Chantilly Automotive checked the coolant every 6 months when I get my oil changed. After years of using the existing engine coolant, they finally recommended changing it. This is a great place to get your car fixed. I am a female. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer. I needed some work done to it. The guys there checked it out, told me what needed to be fixed and gave me an estimate. I went ahead and said ok because it really needed to be done. They were very flexible with a time that worked for me. They were able to fix my car that day. They also noticed something else that really needed fixing. I had been told many times by other car places that it needed to be done. All the other times, I had said no because I just thought it was nonsense to try to get more money from me. The owner explained why I needed to fix this in detail. He encouraged me to price compare other places. I got another opinion and that I really did need to get the work done. So, I went back to Chantilly Automotive to get the work done. They are a trustworthy company. They were very fair with their prices and allowed me to have a payment plan with them. Definitely go to them for car work. Great people who will not take advantage of you, especially females!
