Needed a safety inspection, so decided to give this place a try as it's in walking distance from my home. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to fit me in today before close. I got a bulb change, safety inspection, and oil change for $168 which seems reasonable to me. All of the staff that I talked to in person and on the phone were great and professional. I appreciated being kept in the loop and the updates over text. The ability to look over things with photos and details was new and very impressive to me. This review is from when I went on 8/11/2021... so 1 year & 1 month ago. I should've read some of the past reviews of this place before I had come here. I had scheduled an appointment for a VA state inspection and a full synthetic oil change - To this day, I still can't believe I paid $103.23 for a full synthetic oil change at this place; $19.97 for the additional fees, so $123.20 in total excluding the VA state inspection which is $20. I dropped my car off at 8AM and it took them nearly ALL day for them to be done with my car. They finally called me around 4:45PM and told me that I could come pick up my car with about 15 minutes left 'til they closed. Never have I ever went to a place that took that long before and I thought I had misheard them when they told me the price that I had to pay. Good thing I found another place that is nice and honest to go to, that takes them an hour max for both of these services, and that also charges me a REASONABLE price for an oil change. I never came back here again and I never will. Disgusting. read more

Make sure you get a second opinion. We took our car there for an estimate. They came back with 3 things that needed repaired for an inflated price. I compared their price with that of the dealer and the dealer was several hundred less. And to top it off when we took it in for the repair they said two of the items did not need repaired at this time. I feel they were trying to take advantage. They did a wonderful job on my car. It looks and runs so much better. I like how they text you a list of recommended repairs and how urgent or not urgent they are. I can look it over and make a decision at my own speed on what to get done and I don't feel pressured. Also I like that I can drop off the vehicle before hours. I've been coming to MST&A with my cars ever since they opened. Tony and Dave are always very polite and have taken the time to answer my questions regarding repairs to my vehicles. They've also worked with me to determine multiple fixes to problems they have found with my vehicles. The waiting area is always very clean, and the free Wifi is something I've become dependent upon when I visit! Most recently, I came in for a state inspection and requested they also take a look at the power steering as I suspected an issue with it. As soon as I mentioned the potential issue to Tony, he immediately began asking questions and discussing the likely scenarios. He also informed me that depending on the cause, it's possible the vehicle would fail inspection. Sure enough during the inspection they discovered a high-pressure power steering hose that had been damaged and was leaking. I went home and researched the issue and other owners had reported the same symptoms for the issue I experienced. The MST&A team had the new part in the next morning and completed the repair on time. The car wash here is simply the only one I go to. I always get the Hudson. Occasionally I'll splurge and get an interior cleaning (I've only gotten that service maybe 3 times ever). I've never been anything but extremely satisfied with the interior and exterior cleaning services. These days I change all my oil and most filters on my own, but the MS Oil and Lube shop has done a great job with my cars when I used to bring them in. read more

I just moved to Loudoun County last year. I had a great mechanic in Arizona who was also a good friend. Finding a good mechanic was one of my big concerns coming to Northern Virginia. I believe I found a great mechanic in Main Street Tire & Auto. The shop and waiting area is clean. They have a loaner car for you to use and if it's not available you can get a special price on a rental car from a near by rental agency. Not only do they do great work, they talk you through everything and I have become friends with them as well. I have a 2009 Dodge Laramie 1500 that has a limited lifetime power train warranty. Because of the warranty, I can't give them or anyone else all of my business, but they get all of it not related to the warranty or maintenance. I only choose to do maintenance such as oil changes at the dealer to eliminate any chance that Dodge can deny my warranty. They have serviced many things on my truck to include the AC system and most recently my evap for the emission system and few other things. At first we tried just the fuel cap, but the light came back on and more extensive diagnosis was required. They found the problem and fixed it in a very timely manner. In the near future I am probably going to have them put a three inch lift kit on my truck. I am extremely grateful I stumbled upon this great group of guys and I highly recommend them to all my friends in the area. read more

Was happy they took me as a walk-in for an oil change on a week day, but I was shocked i was charged $80+ at the end for an oil change even though I was quoted half that price over the phone. During my visit I was also advised to change my cabin air filter even though I had done so myself 2 weeks prior. I think I'll be changing my own oil from now on. read more

This was a great little spot for me to get my car inspected. They were quick and professional. The lobby was clean and had free wi fi which was SUPER nice. Wifi! Wow! It totally helped to kill the time. I have sat many an hour in a repair shop and I don't think once has any of them had free wi-fi!!!! Usually the best I find is some magazine geared towards men to try to entertain myself. The wi-fi certainly helped to keep my 4 year old happy! They will give you a walk around and show you every item that needs to be fixed and why. They go into detail on their explanations. They only charge for NECESSARY work - what a concept - wish every business did that!! It's nice to know there is a business so close to home that caters to it's clients as well as they do. Worked with Tony (manager) to clean up suspension work installed by a near by auto service center. I found out the hard way that the previous mechanics left some key spacers, bolts, etc which caused a lot of bumps and rattles. Tony's crew reinstalled and correctly aligned my car for a minimal price. The startling thing was that they frequently get customers like me from the "other shop." Tony requested that I spread the word if I felt that they met my expectation. Consider this spreading the word. Good, honest, and fair folks who get the work done right the first time. If my future work doesn't require a stealership visit, then this will be my garage away from my garage. read more

I arrived at this random shop to buy a BMW that was for sale just nearby. I pulled up in a Toyota Corolla with a terrible wobble that I kept driving on. I asked to have all my tires balanced while I checked out this car for sale nearby. I also explained that I was pretty sure I had bent a rim really bad somewhere and asked if they could put it on the rear for now so I didn't feel the wobble so badly as I didn't want to replace the bent rim until I had some new tires ready. I went outside and monitored the mechanics at a distance. The mechanic placed my rim on the floor and I could visibly see from a short distance how bent this rim really was. It was so bent it folded the metal edge onto itself a couple of times and barley held air. This mechanic repaired the rim with Brute Force! I was amazed at how much impact, tooling, and sweat was required to reshape this rim. He had to hammer and pry so hard for 45 minutes on this single rim with others standing on it! He didn't know who I was or if I was male or female. I'm a mechanic (male anyway), I buy and sell cars, and this mechanic treated my little beater with love. Upon his completing the job I had to enter the shop to shake his hand. Saved me hours of my own labor and saved $150 bucks on a new rim! It was a good day! I am recommending this shop to all my own customers, co-workers, friends, and family. I feel better as a fellow mechanic knowing that at Main Street T&A I have a team I trust to send them to. The AC in my husband's 4Runner recently went out. He also needed to get a power steering flush. Since moving out to South Riding, he has had difficulty finding a trustworthy place for repairs. He has always been one to take his car to the dealer, but his mechanic left the dealership in Woodbridge and he was not happy with service received from the dealership in Chantilly. We went online (Yelp of course) looking for someone who specialized in Toyotas and had good ratings. Main Street Tire & Auto came up. We had already used them to replace one of my tires and knew the crew working there were extremely friendly so decided to give them a try. They performed all the work, did a 32 point safety check and advised the battery in the truck needed to be replaced as well. Since the battery had never been replaced in a 2006 vehicle, we had no doubts about that suggestion. Their prices, compared to the dealer were extremely reasonable. The mechanics were honest - had they told us the AC repair was something other than just a recharge we would have probably believed them since the car is 7 years old. My husband was extremely pleased with the work done on his vehicle and will be taking it there next time it needs service. read more

Honest and up front! I love taking my car here for diagnostic work. Sometimes their prices are a bit expensive, but they are very good with figuring out what is wrong. If you bring in a quote from another mechanic they will match it (or sometimes do better). They recently saved me a bunch of money by doing a great pre-purchase inspection on a used car.
