Dumbo's team was great! We had Luis, Antonio, and Daury. They were so nice and had a big smile on their face the whole day despite the hot and humid weather! I was beyond pleased with the first move that I gave them 5 stars on Google and wanted a chance to give them another 5 stars for my recent move because they are the best movers I've worked with (and I've been moving almost every 2-3 years since 2019). Luca and David were our movers (I hope this is the correct spelling) and we moved from a 4 story row house in Baltimore to a 1 bedroom apartment in East Harlem. I know the stairs in our old house were just BRUTAL but they got everything done so quickly. tldr: valuable items we packed ourselves, worth over $2000 missing after move and we can't even file a police report. Warning to anyone considering this company. They quoted 30 boxes after reviewing photographs of our entire apartment. We then packed half ourselves to protect valuables -- yet they somehow packed far more than 30 boxes from the remaining half. Why? They pack deliberately loose to inflate box count, since they're paid per box. They even boxed furniture items like an air purifier and plastic drawers. It gets worse. The mover offered to not report the inflated box count to the company -- if we tipped him extra. We declined, and the company tried to charge us hundreds of dollars. When we threatened to audit every box for loose packing, they waived the charges. When our belongings came out of storage, we found: damaged furniture, a scratched door handle, broken items, and incomplete packing. Their "unpacking service" meant dumping everything on countertops. Most seriously: multiple valuable items we packed ourselves -- perfume, makeup, a designer bag, and cash -- went missing from boxes we personally packed. We did not expect packers to go through boxes we packed ourselves. And after we raised this, we discovered something far worse -- contracts in our file with signatures we never provided, identical to their own representative's signature on the same documents. This appears to be a pattern: other customers online describe nearly identical experiences, including forged signatures and extortion attempts during their moves. Due to the move crossing state lines (NYC to NJ), we have been unable to file a police report. If you value anything you own, do not use them. read more

This was, without question, the worst moving experience I've had in more than 20 years of living and moving throughout New York City. While the move itself was a disaster, what happened afterward was even worse. The company's complete lack of accountability, responsiveness, and customer care turned an already stressful experience into months of unnecessary frustration. To recap: * The movers arrived three hours late, throwing off the entire day's schedule. * Only two movers arrived, despite my booking and quote being for three movers. * The truck that was sent was far too small for the move, even though I had called in advance to confirm that a truck large enough to accommodate all of our belongings would be provided. * The movers damaged five pieces of furniture, including brand-new pieces and irreplaceable vintage items, as well as the walls of our townhouse. * Boxes and furniture were carelessly placed throughout the home, blocking access to bedrooms, bathrooms, and walkways with no consideration for how we would safely move around the house. * The movers left before the job was complete, telling us they were "too tired." They left furniture unassembled and positioned heavy pieces in places that made them nearly impossible to access. We had no choice but to hire and pay another company to complete the work. At the time, we were moving with a newborn, making an already stressful life event even more overwhelming. We trusted this company with our home and our belongings, and they failed us at every stage. Unfortunately, the experience didn't end when the movers left. The claims process was just as disappointing. Despite the extensive damage, the company was unresponsive, dismissive, and showed little interest in resolving the situation. Communication was slow, customer service was terrible, and there was virtually no sense of urgency or empathy. Ultimately, we were told that because of the level of insurance we had purchased, the damages were not covered and that we would simply have to absorb the loss ourselves. That response demonstrated a complete lack of accountability and customer care. Rather than standing behind their service or working toward a reasonable resolution, they hid behind the fine print and left us paying for damage their movers caused. I would strongly caution anyone considering this company. Based on my experience, they failed in planning, execution, customer service, and claims resolution. I trusted this company with my belongings during what should have been a routine move, and it turned into one of the most devastating experiences of my life. After the move, several family heirloom rings disappeared- jewelry that belonged to my late mother and a ring that was the final gift my father gave me before he passed away. These items are irreplaceable and hold immense sentimental value. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance are highly suspicious. The rings were present before the move, the moving crew had access to my belongings, and the items were discovered missing shortly after move was complete. When I sought answers, I encountered inconsistent information about the members of the moving crew, one of which they are not providing any photo identification, so even with the names they provided, there is no way to verify that is the person who was on the job. Also, the immediate response was that I could do a polygraph test, and if they were found not guilty, I would have to pay $1,200. A police report was filed, and the matter remains under investigation. While the company has denied responsibility, the loss of these treasured family heirlooms and the handling of the situation have left me deeply disappointed because I had used Dumbo moving in the past and had a positive experience. I am SO GRATEFUL that I chose Dumbo Moving. I just had to relocate my entire Manhattan professional recording studio, and I heard that Lior the owner of Dumbo Moving also used to be in the studio business, so his company must know how to do a move like this. I was correct. My move was a difficult for many reasons: multiple rooms of studio furniture, huge heavy custom studio desks, special made sound panels, not to mention large amounts of expensive, delicate, and sometimes rare studio gear and musical instruments... to say I was worried about this move was an understatement. However, I felt taken care of from my very first phone call. Neo talked me through everything and helped me prepare for my move. Levan and his Truck 76 team were TOTAL pros - courteous, careful, and creative problem solvers. They came a full day in advance just to help pack everything up. I've never seen movers put so much care into packing - it was almost like it was their own personal property they were handling. Then, on moving day they worked tirelessly from 9-6 with only like a 20 minute lunch break to make sure I was out of the building on time. Anytime we hit a snag they found a solution, even going so far as to take a heavy, oversized custom-made sound panel down 10 flights of stairs. Dumbo Moving arrived so late that I had to load the majority of my items into the U-Haul myself. This move was the most stressed and sore I've been in a very long time because of the incompetence and misinformation of Dumbo Moving. They quoted 2 men for 3 hours with a 9-11am arrival window. The crew did not arrive until 3:30 PM. At no point did they contact me to warn me about the extreme delay. I had to call them 6 times the day of the move and each time they stated an arrival time that ended up being false. Their delay then caused me to drive the U-Haul in rush hour NYC traffic, adding more hours to my 5 hour trip. To add insult to injury, they required full payment in advance of my move. I am admittedly an idiot for paying upfront but at least I have learned my lesson for next time. Lastly, their representatives were unprofessional. Here is a list of some of the interactions I had on the day of the move: -The man who initially answered the phone one of the times told me a 1pm arrival and then proceeded to tell me "I don't need this" when I said that they quoted me 9-11 and that 1pm was unacceptable. He sent me to Dave who then told me they would be there at 12. (Which was false given they actually arrived at 3:30) -I got hung up on when I checked in at 1:00. -At 2:08 the dispatcher said they would call the crew to check the arrival time and then call me back. 7/3/2026- Zero stars! BEWARE. DO NOT HIRE THEM. these people are terrible. Hunter is dodging my phone calls. Pretty sure they hired task rabbit people to do my move and not actual employees or people who have ever done a move before. They were rude, fought with my neighbors, drove away with my keys so I couldn't lock my apartment up. Would not speak to me and instead insisted that I text him. Hung up the phone on me Multiple times. Never told me when he was heading to drop off location, just left me waiting wondering where he was and if he was coming to get the last few things. it was just him and one woman (I was later told they don't even hire women movers so no idea who this woman even was) so my stuff was left unattended on the street for a long time While they made trips to and from my apartment. neither Spoke to me or said a single word to me or listened to anything I said. At drop off location they refused to listen when I was trying to tell them which door to use so they used the front door and regular elevators Instead of the loading dock and freight elevator. Which is a horrible look for a building I am just moving into. The building even told me to stop them but movers completely ignored me. I'm pretty sure that Hunter told them to be rude to me because the night before the move he asked me via text to switch the move window because he booked another move before mine and had to make mine later and I said no, I had booked the move six weeks prior and confirmed with them on the window multiple times (both my buildings need elevator reservations especially on the 2nd of the month when so many people are moving in) and this text came at 6pm when my move was scheduled for 10-12 the following day. my management offices were no longer open to change the elevator times. i told him him this and he just never responded. So I had no idea when they were going to be coming the Next day. The movers called at 9:44am said they were 10 min away. I go outside and wait for them. 40 minutes go by. I see them parked around the corner. I call them. Tell them I'm right around the corner. He hangs up on me and I'm pretty sure goes to get breakfast because it takes them 15 more minutes to drive around the corner. This company asks for a list of what you are bringing. I have a tiny studio apartment. I left most of my furniture so I brought 10 of those Amazon storage bags of clothes, five small to medium boxes of kitchen stuff. A thuma bed which is known for being super easy to disassembke and move. A queen mattress. a small nightstand. One plant. One 40 inch tv. And one small tv stand. they charged me $595 To move this small amount of lightweight stuff 11miles away. Then REFUSED to pack my pillows and a bag of bedding into the van. they told me the van was full too full for a few pillows and blankets... having rented a van before and moved all of this exact stuff plus more furniture with it by myself previously, I know for a fact the van isn't full. There is no way That's possible. he REFUSES to open the back of the to show me it's full. some lady on the phone I was complaining to tells them to open the van and show me. He opens the van door and as I peek in he slams the door almost hitting me, he and the girl get into the van slam the doors and drive away. To where? Great question! it is a 35 min drive tops to the drop off location. No call from them. No idea where they are. An hour later they show up, Still no call. I saw the truck two streets over with my stuff all over the sidewalk. super confusing. Mover says (via Google Translate words on his phone not actual spoken words) when he unloads the truck he will go back to the old apartment and pick up my pillows. Surprise! He never goes back To pick up my pillows. I live in nyc so I don't have a car going back and forth from location to location wasn't easy. And bringing the bag of pillows and blankets on public transport when I paid movers to move so it wouldn't be a hassle is insane. Now dumbo avoiding my calls. Save yourself the headache and book any other Movers. These people are unprofessional and horrible. And I did offer to pay extra for the pillows and blankets to be moved since they weren't on the list and they still refused. read more

When I was moving from Brooklyn to Manhattan, I detailed all the items that needed to be moved from my tiny studio into my new apartment. The movers arrive, tell me I have too much stuff, then close my apartment door, corner me in the room, and tell me I have to pay them an additional $1000 via venmo or they will cancel the move. Do yourself a favor...find a different mover. Dumbo is cheaper, but you get what you pay for. The "packing" consisted of throwing belongings into oversized boxes with zero padding -- books, fragile items, everything just loose and tumbling around. Predictably, many things broke. Even an expensive chair lost a leg. It's kind of a scam: they don't do a pre-move walk through to estimate supplies, so the customer has to guess how many boxes are needed. You will guess wrong since, uh, you're not a mover. Then, when they run out of supplies because you undercounted, they demand cash on the spot to cover the difference. I suspect they lied about the storage being "climate-controlled". I also suspect they stole the change from a loose change collection jar. Do not use Dumbo Moving. Pay a little more, get the insurance. Your future self will thank you. read more

Update: the sales manager reached out after reading my review below, listened to my concerns and refunded me 75% of the cost of my move. Grateful that they were able to make things right after my situation. DO NOT MOVE WITH THEM! NEVER AGAIN! Did a 3rd move with them and they were TERRIBLE!! I offered to pay the meter for the truck to park. The moving guys declined me. I was called after the move by their supervisor who said that the truck got a ticket and it was my responsibility to pay it (which I did not)! They also damaged several pieces of my furniture. It was a three man crew; they were not friendly and very rude the doormen and porters in my building. I requested that they take off the screen to my Peloton and wrap it to protect it and they refused. I told them that in order to get my couch through the front door, they needed to take the legs off. They also refused stating they had no tools. Finally, after hours of trying, multiple calls from their supervisor stating he was going to charge me more because the job was taking longer than initially agreed upon, they found their power tools and got the couch in. The supervisor had the nerve to tell me that I needed to provide an above average tip to compensate the crew for the extra time. Looked around for movers from Crown Heights brooklyn to another area close to brooklyn. Found Dumbo from Reddit (mixed reviews) but decided to try them anyway. Joel (my sales rep) was organized, thorough, and professional. Answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. Moving crew (crew ID 022) was also great - they wrapped everything up well, and got the job done quickly and professionally. Had 2 people total for the move (they did some packing - moving - some unpacking). Now, I took off 1 star because I had paid for full unpacking - and the mover had pushed back on this despite me having paid. Perhaps it was a miscommunication from Dumbo to the movers.
