Dumplin Patch Bed and Breakfast - Cabin - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Williams, Arizona

This bed and breakfast is apparently under new ownership as of December 2022. Two couples, friends on vacation together, chose to stay here after past fun B&B experiences and seeing the photos on DP's charming website. I booked the rooms and my telephone interaction with the owner was pleasant. Having several B&B experiences in the past, we were eager to meet the new owners. Upon arrival, we learned a "remote check-in" was the case instead. Our accommodations were nothing like the website photos. We stayed in a cabin with a window air conditioner so loud we could not sleep. The other couple stayed in the Mariposa Suite with no air conditioning at all. It is apparent the owners have attempted to update this b&b, but they have far to go. There are places for smoke alarms but no smoke alarms. The courtyard is filthy with work equipment in it. On the positive side, the cabin air conditioner was changed when we called the owner. The thermometer in the main cabin was fixed. However, if we could have gotten our money back we never would have stayed the first night. Grand Canyon is a place that draws people from around the world. We met families from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and France. What a sad view of America they have at a place so poorly kept. These young owners have an opportunity to run a business they can be proud of. I hope they step up to the plate. read more

I stayed in the Mariposa suite and was absolutely delighted with my stay. Judy and Eva were communicative and absolutely sweet hosts. Check-in was self-done and seamless, which I appreciated after tons of driving. The suite itself was clean, cozily decorated, well-stocked (hot plate, heater, TV, microwave, mini fridge, towels, soap, you name it), and much more spacious than I'd expected. The wifi did drop from time to time, but it held up consistently for the most part (who's here to use the wifi anyway?) The Dumplin Patch is also an easy 30-minutes drive from the Grand Canyon's southern entrance, which I most certainly appreciated (along with the coffee maker + breakfast burritos) when heading in to the Grand Canyon early in an attempt to beat the spring break crowds. They also provide local tips and recommendations - also much appreciated during a road trip when you're trying to figure out what to do in so little time! The only caveat I'd have is to be careful when pulling in if you have a sedan -- the gravel is a bit higher in most locations and it might roughen up the front of your car a bit if you're not careful. Otherwise, I highly recommend staying at Dumplin Patch -- you won't find a location this close to the Grand Canyon with as wonderful hosts or as great a bargain! read more

The web site is misleading. There is no hot breakfast, they gave you a burrito upon arrival to microwave the next day. Water pressure was nonexistent in the shower, there was no creamer with the coffee in the room. We stayed in the Navajo room which had no temperature control and was quite warm. The owner did not provide any answers other than blaming covid. She should have changed the website noting there is no breakfast anymore. We did not stay our second night. We only stayed for 1 night just some place for us to crash ..... room was a little hot fan only had 2 speeds water pressure not great but understood there water comes from a tank .... it's the dessert so their water gets shipped in ..... room could have been a little cleaner ..... the people were very nice ! We didn't get to stay for breakfast cause we went for a sunrise at the Grand Canyon and headed west for the rest of the week ! Thank you for letting us stay with you ! read more

We experienced the bait and switch. Rented us two rooms with bathrooms then upon arrival, notified us the rooms we paid for were not available. Stuffed us (my wife and I) into a small bedroom. Shower leaked. In am, no hot water. This is an old house they just kept adding bedrooms and bathrooms into without adding hot water tanks or sufficient hot water storage for more than 1 or 2 people to get a hot shower. (4 families sharing the one house.) DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE. read more

This place is a total and complete disaster. First of all we had to wait 25 minutes first to find someone to check us in. The Place was a ghost town. When we finally entered the room it was filthy completely gross with other peoples pubic hair everywhere we looked. OMG it was completely disgusting. Unfortunately, we prepaid for two nights so we felt stuck. Breakfast is only served from 7-8:30 which is probably a good thing since the crap was inedible. Bacon that tasted nothing like bacon,I had one bit and spit out the rest, powdered eggs that were also garbage and ice cold pancakes and everything else including coffee was ice cold. They have a nerve charging top dollar 250.00USD for this crap when a motel 6 would give you way better value at a fraction the cost. I notice they do a good job of filtering theft good ratings but if I were you I would pass this one over. read more

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend. I had called several times (before booking, enroute) and the owner was very nice the entire time. We had a little difficulty finding the place, as Google maps nor the GPS took me the right place. Anyways, upon getting there the place looked very nice on the inside - well decorated and taken care of (besides the bed which was definitely very old, and WAY too saggy and hurt our backs). The owner met us, and asked if we had anything specific needs for breakfast - and we kindly informed her we don't eat bacon/ sausage in the morning. She said that'd be fine, and we went on our way to the Grand Canyon. Once back, our neighbors were being very loud and it was like a frat party in there with many guys all drinking. Before sleeping, we did ask if they could quiet down, and that happened only momentarily as this went on all night. This was just the beginning of our 'experience' at this B&B. In the morning, we were greeted by the owner and some other couples, and she apologized for the folks being loud, etc. Everything after this went further downhill. The food was TERRIBLE - very limiting. My husband and I shared a mini-pancake 2 inches in size. The fruit was decent. There was just a few eggs left (1-2 eggs max), scrambled - that tasted terrible (and there were no condiments). Everything else was finished - yet the owner only kept making bacon and sausage, though we again told her we don't eat them. This was just the beginning. Everything the owner seemed to say was the most racist thing ever. She started saying things against our neighbors, who were already gone at this point - and while what they did was wrong, it did NOT warrant what she said about them. She called them all sort of names, and said next time she is going to refuse to let such people to stay at her location, etc etc. It was truly absurd, and it did NOT stop there, though my husband and I, as well as the other couple were already uncomfortable. She then asked where we were from, and we answered where we ETHNICALLY are from, and that we were born and raised here. At this point, she started calling us derogatory names, and started saying really racial stuff against us. No one knew what to say - and honestly, we were all in such shock that our goal was to pack up and leave ASAP. That's what we did, and we'll definitely never come back. read more

Thank you Judy for having us!!! My wife and I came and stayed in the Navajo room, it was excellent. Comfortable and relaxing with flat screen direct tv and WiFi. Perfect after a long day at the grand canyon. Hands down more charming and fun than a brand name over priced hotel!!!! We loved it. Judy is amazing and sweet. The other review below is bogus because that is just not right. Breakfast was simple delicious and charming. The bed was soft and comfy, it was just like being home. Positive review all the way. Only 30 miles from the grand canyon. It was a perfect weekend. Judy you rock, keep on making memories and meeting new and interesting people. We heart you big time!!!!! read more

You cannot go wrong by selecting Dumplin Patch Bed and Breakfast as your place to stay. Only a 30 minute drive to the South Rim entrance, Dumplin is a stone's throw off the main highway. The place is well maintained on the outside, and inside, the rooms are clean and comfortable. However, what makes this place a true gem is the innkeeper who goes to great strides in ensuring her guest feel welcomed. Breakfast was perfect both days we stayed, but what was most enjoyable was the conversations we had with the innkeeper as she made our breakfast to order. My wife and I had a wonderful time visiting the park, but more importantly, we left Arizona having made a new friend during our stay. I have no hesitation giving Dumplin a five star rating. read more

We love this place!!! We stayed in the Hopi room, which is a family style room with a queen bed and tie twin beds. The whole place is so quiet and has such a homey feel to it. Breakfast was sooooo good, too. Bacon, eggs, pancakes, biscuits, hash browns, toast. It is all located in the small community of Valle is about 20 miles south of the Grand Canyon. We will definitely stay here our next trip to the area!! read more

We had a wonderful time at this ADORABLE B&B. We stayed in the Hopi room and it was so cozy & comfortable, we were all sad to leave. My husband, myself and our 6 y/o had more than enough room to be comfortable. The attention to detail was very charming. The inn keeper, Judi was very warm & friendly. She was extremely knowledgeable about the nearby attractions & the Grand Canyon. She gave us very useful and helpful information. The breakfast was great! I'm shocked this place doesn't have more reviews! My mom and I stayed here just for 1 night...we wish we got to stay longer! We took a road trip up from Tucson to the Grand Canyon for sunset so we arrived after dark to the Dumplin Patch. The GPS doesn't really work to well out there so I would suggest atleast scoping the area out before dark so you know where you're going. We had a bit of trouble finding the DP originally but of course that was our fault. We called Judy for directions and she was very helpful, I especially appreciated her accommodating our late arrival. We stayed in the Mariposa Queen room and it was absolutely adorable. We had a private little sitting room and private bath which was nice. The next day we could smell the coffee and pancakes being made for our 8am breakfast. All the food was delicious and homemade, including fresh blueberry mini muffins. It was so nice to share our breakfast with the other guest (a family from the UK and a couple from Chicago) everyone was so friendly and it was just a really nice atmosphere. Our favorite part though had to be Tom... Judy's Maltese puppy. He was truly the sweetest little pup. I really hope to make it back out to the area so we can have a longer stay at the Dumplin Patch. read more
