When I'm visiting new towns, my sweet teeth start to rattle when I see a donut shop. My recent trip to Seaside Oregon revealed this great place called Dundee's Donuts! I was immediately pleased when I walked in to see a beautifully curated selection of their donuts behind glass. Once you order, they pull a fresh one out of a drawer below (great way to store them), not off the counter. I was also struck how clean and organized the shop was inside too. The gal that helped me was attentive and kind as she explained the flavors before me. I ordered a box of buttermilk old fashioned bars, a cherry fritter, a custard filled raised with chocolate topping, a maple covered cinnamon roll (look at that perfect finish on the icing) and a marionberry scone. Not worth it. Donuts are dry and not very tasty. They are appealing however don't taste as good as they look. Donut holes were alright, fresh and sugary. The glazed cake donut was small, dense, and thick. The circumference was a little small for its thickness so it was hard to eat. Glaze could have been sweeter. Customer service is good and shop looks new and updated. Busy venue because it seemed like the only donut shop on Broadway. First time we've stayed in Seaside. We normally stay in CB and enjoy Haystack Baking Co. we found Dundee's to be a delightful substitute. Not as much selection but very good. Really liked their apple cider cake donuts. Apple fritters weren't available on this day. Maple bars and cinnamon twists were delicious, as were their donut holes. I thought the donuts to be fresh and delicious, airy and not greasy. My favorite was the raspberry jam filled donut with chocolate frosting and some colored sprinkles. The maple bar was good too. My least favorite was the plain glazed donut, a bit chewy. I got here right after they opened at 7am so I guess I lucked out with having them super fresh. Came here for my birthday on a Monday morning and got two mochas and four donuts. COVID wise, everything was straight forward. Lots of plastic barriers and hand sanitizer, and the cashier/barista had a mask on. Other reviews say the service isn't friendly here but I found the barista to be perfectly friendly and ordering to be straight forward. Mochas were delicious - chocolate not overpowering the espresso but still very much there. Donuts were also solid. I liked the maple bar the best, and then the apple fritter. Decent donuts but also the only donut option that I could find in Seaside. I was attending a family gathering, so bought a mixed dozen: sprinkles, Oreo topped, chocolate dipped, bacon and maple bars. The sprinkles and oreo topped ones were a huge hit with kiddos. My favorite was the maple bacon bar but it would've tasted better slightly heated. They heavy dip the donuts, so expect a dense and super sweet top with an unglazed bottom. The cake donuts were by far the tastiest but definitely needed a coffee to offset the sweetness. read more

We came in at 10:15 in April and there was a woman with teenage girls behind the counter. I thought they were talking to me but they werent and grabbed the maple bar they wanted in front of us. We asked about the donut next to the apple fritter and thought he said it was an apple fritter with carmel on top but found it was not after paying $3. Save your money and just go to Safeway. I'm not sure why the neighboring bar and grill has an off-shoot donut shop? Or perhaps it's the other way around. But anyway, this little donut shop is on Seaside's main street though downtown. Seaside is a beachtown unique in it's kind here in Oregon. It's reminiscent of a mid-Atlantic beach town with an actual boardwalk, t-shirt shops, guys wearing tank tops walking their pit bulls, and over priced everything! That brings me to this donut shop. Basically it's a little shop selling average looking and tasting donuts at top dollar prices. The venue is small, but adequate if you want to sit and eat. Or I suppose you can walk through the pass through to the restaurant and get yourself a beer. The selection is rather limited with mostly yeast donuts. No cake. The apple fritters looked liked the saddest excuse for an apple fritter I had ever seen. I didn't even bother looking at the price. They were probably around $3-4. I ended buying 4 donuts for $9.50! A casual shop with less reason to stop and sit and more reason to grab and go, the two, young employees continued their conversation as we perused our sweet options. A wrap-around counter for the register and more pastries along the side, seating at pallet-like benches and hefty wooden tables are available, though seem to be seldom utilized. Tastefully placed artwork on the walls, and simple decor keep attentions focused on the glowing donuts in the case. What I ordered: My husband and I, saving our appetites for lunch, shared the Oreo Bar ($2.50), fluffy dough perfectly fried and topped with cream and crushed Oreo cookies. Went into Dundee's Donuts and Bo ( or Beau ), not sure how he spells it, was awesome! He was warm, friendly and very helpful. Most of all, he had a great sense of humor. My family came in on Saturday, Aug 10th a little before 6pm, which was lucky for us, because they close at 6. My family is a silly bunch and he was great! Bo laughed and joked with us and made our short visit in the shop, memorable and fun! I was just going to buy 1 donut for myself since my family had all had ice cream earlier. Anyway, the donut was so good and Bo was so awesome, I ended up buying a dozen donuts, 3 Dundees stickers and some drinks! He also sold us on eating at Dundees grill as well. Unfortunately, we were headed back to Olympia and would have to pass on dinner there. We will be back and we will eat a meal at Dundees and buy some more of those fantastic donuts!!! Delicious, fresh and tasty doughnuts. We stayed at a local airbnb for Thanksgiving weekend 2020 Covid style. We woke up early Friday morning and had a fixing for doughnuts, we searched near by and this popped up. We gave it a look and decided to try it. And we are so glad we did, these doughnuts were light and fluffy, with amazing flavor. We got four doughnuts and a chocolate milk, and now wishing we got more. I want to give a better review because the donuts were really good except the apple fritter was a bit boring. The service is the worse. Absolutely no friendliness at all. We ordered coffees and some idiot completely loosened the creamer cap which fell into my cup. Stupid unprofessional girl should gave given me a clean cup as that is unsanitary and it poured all down my legs and shoes. No offer for a rag. During our vacation, which we were kind of on a donut kick, we saw this place and thought we'd try it out since it looked interesting. The interior is connected to a restaurant and has a number of booths to sit at and enjoy your donut, or drink. The lady who helped us was really nice and friendly. We got a couple of different items to try, including the buttermilk donut, butterfinger covered long john, and a bismark. They were all quite good actually, with fluffy dough, not super sweet, and a decent amount of toppings. The bismark was interesting in that the bavarian cream actually had a bit of effervescence to it; I thought I was going crazy at first but tried it again and confirmed that it was slightly bubbly. I've usually not been a fan of buttermilk donuts because they just seem plain and boring, but I tried this one and may be reconsidering whether to try them more often. It was crumbly and buttery, slightly glazed, and not bland like I was expecting. This place is certainly better than a chain like Dunkin or Krispy Kreme. Two words: donut kebabs. That's by far the best thing they serve there, so you can have a scrumptious kebab made of donut holes and not get your hands dirty. Aside from that the donuts are very average. They are extremely typical and have nothing that stands out about them. If I'm ever back in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. DO-NUT BUY THESE!! Ive worked in Food/Bev for about 10 years and never thought I'd be this person... but this little donut shop has crossed the line. First of all, is this a donut shop that's moonlights as a sports bar, or vice versa? I understand trying to capture as much business as possible by extending hours and menu offerings, but In my experience it's better to be good at one thing rather than mediocre at two. I'm not sure how anyone could mess up deep fried bread covered in icing, filled with "custards", and topped with bacon... but the 3 teenagers behind the counter here seemed to figure it out. They was still raw dough inside, bacon crumbles were certainly left over from the night before, boxed pudding filling, unsanitary practices all over the place, extremely rude teenage staff, and all this inspite of this donut shop having brand new, state of the art equipment top to bottom. I can't blame them entirely since whoever made these menus, price points, and entire atmosphere set them up for failure. I think we can all agree that $32 for a dozen "premium" donuts is ludicrous. Apparently you need extensive knowledge in excel to figure out their pricing.. because the young teenage cashier had to ask his superior, yet equally angsty teenage colleague how much to charge for the "premium tier". Once I reluctantly handed over an absurd amount of money the young man proceeded to move his tip jar so as to suggest I add gratuity. I obliged, but also took a handful of napkins which I believe was the only thing of any value here. I am considering returning these and asking for a partial refund as we won't eat these and honestly, this feels like a scam or front business for something more sinister. Biggest take away... if the bakery doesn't have a stand mixer from the 1950's that has been operated by the same woman (likely with a name similar to Suzanne, or Carol) who has half a century's worth of experience making delicatessens... then save your money and calories for anything else.. read more
