While exploring the town we stopped at Canon Beach bakery. We got a Spinach quiche, Ham & Cheese quiche, and Coconut Macaroons. We liked the Macaroon, both our quiche's were good. We came back the next day to get their sandwiches and the display cases had flies inside them. When I pointed it out to the lady helping us, she just ignored it saying it's not an issue. Near the North end of the main strip Hemlock, this bakery looks like it might have some great bread and goodies. The staff were friendly and quick to take our order. I ordered the breakfast sandwich needed something not so sweet. I'm pretty sure it's premade and microwaved, meh. It hit the spot before a day on the beach, but I wouldn't get it again. This trip, I decided to try the seasonal coffee -- an eggnog latte -- and it was made to absolute perfection. It tasted like straight steamed milk with a whisper of sadness absolutely no chocolate flavor whatsoever. Bland, watery, and completely flavorless. It was quite possibly the best poppyseed muffin I've ever had, and I've had a fair number because it's my favorite muffin flavor. Sadly a very sad experience with the owner who was working when we stopped in. She was scolding an employee as the line was waiting (not cool), handed us someone else's order, and snapped at us that "you'll need to just wait while I sort her mess out!" when we advised her she given us someone else's bag. We just died for the poor employee, and promptly left (without asking for a refund) and went to a lovely place called Insomnia just down the street around the corner. Yummy little bakery here! Mom and I split a Sailer Jack spiced muffin and a Marionberry scone. The Sailer Jack was super good! Soft, airy, and filled with little raisins. Definitely recommend! The Marionberry scone was decent but a teeny but dry. Also the ratio of scone thickness to toppings was a little off. Because it was fairy thick, I felt like it needed more Marionberries or a more saturated Marionberry drizzle on top. When I think flavored scones, I imagine getting that flavor in every bite which didn't happen with this one. Tons of options though and worth stopping in! I remembered going here last year and being blown away by their marionberry desserts, so made a point to stop here during our visit this year. While their treat tastiness excels, their service is severely lacking. Both days we were here right when they opened and the lady at the cash register (unsure if the owner or just an employee) was extremely unfriendly and pushy, rushing us even though were were the first ones in line and needed a minute to decide on what we wanted. Their marionberry scones are expensive but truly delicious. We also enjoyed their marionberry turnovers, especially warmed up at our house with some ice cream. I wasn't impressed with their oat milk latte as it was just lacking flavor, so I wouldn't order coffee here again. Looking at many other reviews it appears their strong suit isn't service, and I guess they can get by with it being one of the only bakeries in town and always having a line. However, after trying Lazy Susan, I may have to stick with them next time as their marionberry scone was just as delicious and the service was better. TL;DR - If you don't mind poor service, this place has great baked goods. However, if you're looking for friendlier service, I'd definitely look elsewhere. Decently expensive as well. read more

The bakery selection was vast (good--it's a bakery!) and the donuts got 5 stars from my kids. They have some seasonal varieties of apple cider donuts and the bakery breads they're known for. They also had some savory breads. I checked in on Yelp and got a free 16oz drip coffee. It was solid but no frills. They had some cakes in the display case as well if you have an occasion to celebrate. The apple cinnamon twist bread was the hands down favorite. Moist, tender, flavorful. It's really delicate, don't even think about putting it in a regular toaster. The bear claw and Marion Berry pastries were all good. While they are honest pastries in the sense that they have multiple layers of dough, they were not as flakey or moist as the big box pastry I got the same day. The filling was good and authentic however it did not feature any whole pieces of fruit that the big box place did. While not a surprise, two pastries from here cost more than 8 from the other place. When I go back, I'll skip the pastries and try both the plain and ham and cheese croissants that looked mighty good. read more

The owner was absolutely ridiculous at this establishment. She verbally berated her employee and made racist comments telling the employee she didn't understand what she was saying when the employee was very shaken up but being very clear with her words. We stood there considering if we even should purchase from here but ended up doing in order for us to be able to talk to the owner. The employee was so sweet and helpful and I felt terrible and asked if that was the owner. The owner walked up and talked to one of her white employees telling her that she is great and knows she wouldn't do something wrong. I snapped and was horrified. I asked if she was the owner and told her how inappropriate her behavior was and she apologized and started making excuses. I worked in a bakery and remember a manager and owner who spoke to me that way and no one ever stood up for me. I hope her actions change but based off the fact I see there are similar reviews from previous months and from one of the workers telling me she does this all the time, that clearly she will not. How disappointing to have such wonderful employees and treat them as trash. The owner stopped us on the way out and told us she works 80 hours a week and bla bla bla, to be honest I don't care because your employees have to work harder and longer than you. Your excuse will never be enough for verbally abusing your employees. I hope they are able to have a job one day that appreciates them and supports them. For some reason those ordering coffee drinks always back up the line, really don't know why Despite the wait I still drive the two hours to pick up my order of sailor jacks. I call ahead to ensure they have them before the drive and I buy all they have every single trip. Wish I could pre order and buy even more! If you have not tried a sailor Jack you need to! It's like a mini gingerbread cake in a muffin tin, with raisins (I normally hate raisins!) and then coated in glazed donut sugar coating goodness. Just one of my favorite treats to have ever!!! And trust me I hate raisins but the recipe is not the same without them and they almost melt in your mouth. Just go with it and try one, or twelve! read more

Wow, no question this place gets 5 Stars from me, between the pastries and the coffee (not to mention the great selection), I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an early morning pick me up! Little did we know that we were doing a DOUBLE breakfast on this day, so we wet a little nuts pastry wise. The Apple Cider donut was a top 10 donuts in my book. They are old fashioned style and it was crispy on the outside just like I like them. My girlfriend got a Cream Cheese Danish, which I hate, but she seemed to enjoy it. If we had stayed in Cannon Beach for longer, I would have liked to try their sourdough bread, which seems to be the thing to get here. They also had great looking bagels and cupcakes. I must admit I have a soft spot for a good old fashion bakery and yes the Cannon Beach Bakery hit all my pastries buttons, the selection was wonderful from breads to Danish and Scones. We took with us three soft and chewy Marion Berry Scones. Our clerk provided butter, a knife and napkins. We also couldn't resist ordering an Almond Bear claw, a Cherry Turnover, a Raspberry Danish, a Apple cider donut and, one Sailor Jack muffin. I am embarrassed to say this was for just the two of us. We finished everything by the next days breakfast and enjoyed a great smelling car for a couple of days. Everything was fresh with wonderfully flavorful. They also had an active coffee bar. So to but a bow on this review if you like good pastires, oh a one word of warning like every thing in Cannon Beach these morsels are a little pricey but I feel still worth it. read more
