I am staying in number 2 Wharf Cottage right now. The manager Sarah is amazing- friendly but will leave you alone. I arrived late on Saturday and she found me Sunday morning reading in the sun on a lounge chair and said something like "oh you look so comfortable there, stay! I'll check you in whenever you are ready." That was just so nice as I was tired from traveling. The vibe is easygoing and full of kindness. Some guests that knew each other had had a celebration and we came back to PRL while they were having dessert. They offered us cake and ice cream and we sat and joined them! Poor Richard's Landing evokes the best of Provincetown - how the community welcomes and supports people. Straight couples, gay men, lesbian women, and trans and non-binary folx were all present during my week on the wharf. There is a shared gas grill, plus bicycles and locks, kayaks, life jackets, floaties, and beach chairs available. Cottage #2 is super cute with a bedroom with a view of the beach and MacMillan Pier, and a table and chairs with the same view in the living area. There is a single bed in the living room- with a trundle underneath! (I think you have to pay extra for a 4th person). No couch, but a cozy reading chair. Galley kitchen is very narrow with a half fridge but has everything you need. Bathroom has a sliding door and a nice hot shower. The toilet is right up against the wall so there's a little bit of maneuvering involved if you are, like me, a little overweight. There are heaters and fans to help control the temperature, and the bay breeze is wonderful. This is a GREAT PLACE. The dune shacks were originally built to help shipwrecked sailors who made it to shore- inside the shacks there was everything a sailor might need to survive- food, clean clothes, a bed- and in the same spirit Poor Richard's Landing is truly a safe harbor. My first visit to PTown and we stayed at the Perfect Place! Beautiful View! Easy walking to Everywhere! Clean, comfortable & romantic flat! We have met so many people and made new friends whom we make plans to come back to the Landing every year. The cottages are adorable and clean. This is our sanctuary from the hustle and bustle and the happiness away from the Ho-hum. Poor Richard's Landing is the rustic charm that embodies Ole Cape Cod. The units are spare but in the best way, you have what you need to make do. What makes a morning is a coffee maker and a perfect pastry from Angel Foods a 2 minute walk away. There are only 10 units here which is a bit reminiscent of Tales of the City with the awesome caretakers Sarah and Diane filling in for Ms. Madrigal. Fun can be had alone or just step out onto a lobster bake. We love it here and have come back year after year for almost a decade. If you're looking for A/C and a Westin Heavenly Bed, this might not be for you...but for those looking to go analog, this truly is a slice of heaven. read more

Poor Richard's Landing is a Provincetown classic. Tucked into the gallery district of the east end, Poor Richard's is an authentic Cape Cod wharf over the Bay. Each of the cabins has its own unique charm with old Ptown character. This is a haven for painters, sculptors, musicians and dancers. Cabin #8, our summer home, featured a super comfy bed, vintage furniture and fixtures, and cabinets with a painting of a "Flower Monsters," the work of a previous guest. The garden is a lavish confusion of colors and shapes - buoys painted to look like fish, birds and even a ladybug. We enjoyed fresh herbs and just-ripe tomatoes. But the real gifts of Poor Richard's Landing are those provided by managers Sarah and Diane, who run the Landing with a loving hand. The community nurtured by Sarah and Diane created opportunities of connection and friendship, even during the pandemic. We have never felt so welcome anywhere we have traveled. read more

Poor Richard's has put a spell on us that I hope will never be broken. The rustic cabins and their little kitchens and gas stoves became our home for a week, while we explored the light and sea of Provincetown. Although we love Provincetown and appreciate its history, charm and exuberance, we've never been quite so captivated as this past time at Poor Richards, where the bay rolls underneath a dock beneath your bed, hypnotically unwinding you and seeping into your dreams. Sarah and Diane, the owners, are so lovely, as warm and calming as the Provincetown breezes. Our fellow visitors, too, were kind and companionable. We enjoyed the fun and friendly evening cocktails, while our collective dogs played around us. During the day our only desire was to watch the comings and goings of the tide outside our door. The beach changes as the light does, bringing to shore a wide variety of crawling sea life, which soon is carried back out with the waves. The black sky at night looks like licorice, and is lit by a snow white moon. Everything hypnotized me and delighted me! I can't wait for my husband, our little dog and I to go back to Poor Richards. We'd love to bring our daughters, too, and hope they'll appreciate how the lodging, and the nature of Provincetown complement each other perfectly. Super clean, most units have stellar views of the bay and Provincetown harbor!! AND... the managers (Sarah and Diane) will do everything they can to make your stay a memorable one and your wanting to come back year after year! A pure sanctuary located in the heart of the gallery district East end with one of the best galleries (Oils by the Sea Gallery) in town as part of the property facing Commercial St. The Mews Restaurant and Cafe along with Ciro and Sals are just footsteps away. Looking for the REAL cape cod - its here tucked away in a secret spot in Ptown. I don't want to tell too many people about it cause its so special, but- its hard to find these classic waterfront seasonal cottages. This place is old school and special. And the Inn keepers are great too! read more

Worse place ever!! Manager lady incharge was passive aggressive and rude on the phone and rude to my friends. Not Military friendly!!! Not a secret why people are not giving reviews, it's probably unpleasant no one wants to talk about their experience. 1. Lady was rude on the phone. She gave me some information over the phone and asked me to put down half instead of a smaller deposit amount. Said we can stay 3-4 and pay extra for anyone who stays over. 2. As I checked in she said I couldn't have my friends there after 9pm (wish she could of mention that before). I couldn't have anymore than 3 people. Wouldn't return deposit and was short. Made a comment " your friends should of told you the rules" because I told her a friend of my friend recommended this place but neither of us had stayed there. 3. She asked me who was staying and I was very honest and told her who. She wanted to meet the other person which made sense and I told her my wife was driving the car and she couldn't leave the parking spot until I checked in (very limited parking on the street) because the cabins did not have any designated parking spots for customers so we parked several streets away (another thing she failed to tell me). I had to correct her 3x about my wife and her name and not my girlfriend, only showed me she was not friendly and not a good listener. Hardly looked at me as she spoked to me. Told me "the neighbors hated Memorial Day Weekend!" Making me feel unwelcomed on our very first day. 4. Said she was going to walk us around next day and she never did. Did not offer any towels, trash bags, toilet paper or let us know if we can borrow the bikes on the premises. No tour of the place at all did not tell us where to throw our trash. 5. I had my military family over for dinner we cooked and left. As we are all walking out, a pizza lady comes by and says hello and smiles, the lady manager comes to the front door after ordering herself a pizza and told the pizza lady "now your neighbors will be able to sleep" as we were all leaving the cabin to enjoy the evening. ((( It wasn't late!!! We left as it was getting dark. Everybody's was up, some of the tenants weren't even home yet, people were out walking around, enjoying their Saturday with their families.))) The pizza lady looked at me puzzled as she was unsure why the lady manager made the unnecessary comment. My friends are my family we served for many years and have not seen each other in 8 years. We are military Veterans, very respectful people trying to spend Memorial day together. Trying to enjoy one meal and that was an issue! I was disgusted with her behavior. I was embarrassed. 6. She saw us the next day and no good morning or eye contact. I don't know or understand why she was not friendly. She was friendly to everyone else and made noise in the morning with her recycling bottles and trash, and I never complained to her about the ant infestation or about the old toaster that shocked me. I cleaned the whole cabin and left it in the same condition I found it in. Then we were told as we were leaving in the am, that we should leave $$$ for the maids, when I'm the one who cleaned all of it! (I left your iron on the table so please no accusations need to be made). Her childish behavior was uncalled for. I hope that she thinks about the comments she made to us throughout our stay and reflects on them because we did not spent all that money flying in from all parts of the world for her to treat US or Anyone the way she did. Very disappointed. Will never stay there or wish to have anyone I care for experience what we did. -A fellow soldier read more
