So, of course anything "new" that opens in that area is a really BIG DEAL, and while my sister was in town we went to check the new Kohl's out. It was your typical Kohl's. Not much else to elaborate on. The aisles were clean and well-organized, but I'm guessing that has more to do with the lack of foot traffic more than anything. When we went, we were literally the only customers in this store, with the cashiers just standing around and gossiping. The worst part of our experience was the teenage cashier. While ringing us up, she started hounding me about the Kohl's charge card, and why it would be a great idea for me to get one. She was doing the familiar old sales pitch you get at every Kohl's. I told her I used to work at Corporate, and I didn't need to get their charge card since I know how that works. Her attitude changed after that - she went from OK to having a surly demeanor. Seriously Kohl's, listen to your customers. Odds are, if they are anything like me, they hate getting a hounding sales pitch - especially at the check out, when all they want to do is get out the door.

They have different sections for sportswear for men and sportswear for women. In the men's section you can find a lot of good quality and branded clothes for your boyfriend, brother, father, and for your friends. They are organized and every type and color of clothes are separated to each other so it's easy to find. In the women section it is also organized well. I'm happy that every piece of clothing that I will look at is here.  I went to the shoe section and it had a lot of shelves with different kinds of shoes. Even though the shelves are not full of stock, it has been organized. They have different sizes and colors of shoes. You can also ask the staff about the sizes. Don't worry, the staff are helpful. Try to shop here because the shoes are durable and comfortable to wear.

I also bought a real nice winter coat w/an insulated thermal liner. Just an add I just went to The Mall of America & bought a new Columbia winter coat for $240 minus 25% for $180 w/no sales tax in Minnesota on clothes. Out the door for $180. Great deal right? NOT SO FAST!!!! I found the exact same coat here for $219 on sale for $40% off w/5.5% sales tax in WI. $219 X 60% = $131.40 X 5.5% (WI sales tax) = $138.63 out the door Sheeeet $180 - $138.63 = $41.37 difference & a 1hr drive to Kenosha WI vs 8hr to The Mall of America (NEVER AGAIN) 4 tanks of gas and a night in the hotel added to the cost.

I was on my way back from the Chicago Western Suburbs, driving back to Milwaukee after visiting my dying father in a hospital. I had to take a call from a close out of town out of the country relative and it was too cold standing outside to talk to I ducked into the nearest store, this one. There was no one else in the store, and the sales guy came up to see if I needed help but then overheard enough that he politely and discreetly turned around and surreptitiously went about his business. When I finished the phone call he recognized I didn't actually want any paint and left me be even though I didn't leave. I can't explain why but I was staring at some cans of paint, and later it registered on me that they have a pretty good stock, and of course Benjamin Moore is a high quality paint. I think one of the foundations of good customer service is reading customers and figuring out what we need. I'll tell you when I do need paint, I'm coming back here even though it's 45 minutes from where I live. It's next to an excellent Thai restaurant. One more plus, the owner supports the Northwestern Wildcats.

With no intention of buying anything and just doing some reconnaissance, we surveyed the store and tried out a few machines. We were pleasantly surprised to have helpful but not pushy salespeople say hello upon entering but allow us to peruse the selection on our own. After we checked out the whole showroom of very nice and high end equipment we asked if they also had any pre-owned equipment since we just didn't know how often we were going to use an at -home elliptical. Luckily they had just received a shipment of pre-owned items and had a few ellipticals of the brand my SO was looking at purchasing. We were able to try out a few and ultimately determined that one of theirs would indeed fit our needs. The salesperson, Peter, was very knowledgeable, forthcoming with information, and patient with my abundance of questions. We appreciated his demeanor and got a good feeling from this store regarding how they like to treat their customers. This place is practically the definition of bait and switch. I was in the market for a treadmill. Walked in, took a quick look, and the salesman asked me if I was interested in anything. I explained they were well out of my budget. (Everything around $2k when I'm looking to spend more around $500.) He asked my budget & when I told him, he said I wasn't going to find anything for that price, not new. I said I knew that, I was looking for used. Him: "We don't have used." Me: "Really? What's that sign right there? The glowing one?" Him: "Well, we don't have *many*." Then he tried to neg me for having a budget. "Everyone thinks they're going to find that perfect, heavy, only been used once piece of equipment." And he said "I could maaaaybe find one in the back for, Oh, $649 or so. But it wouldn't be good for your purposes." Which was *really* strange, since I hadn't described my goals or usage in the least. I guess he just magically knew what I wanted? I think he guessed by my face that he'd stepped wrong, because he *then* asked my purposes. I told him I want to use it 3 times a week, 3 Miles. He then assumed I wanted the treadmill for walking only. I'll admit, I'm a little round right now, but that's because I was in a car wreck 5 months ago & ate my feelings. I want the treadmill in order to train back up to my 6.5mph pace. I'm no Olympian, but I do alright. So his assumption was wickedly rude. But I went along with it at that point, because honestly I didn't want to be rude in return. He checked his computer and magically discovered a treadmill in stock, used, for $499. He showed me to a room behind the initial show room (which omfg, what a creepy set up. Sure, I'll follow you into a back room of a warehouse and feel totally A-OK about it! Not.) And then he launched into ohhhh, but this is ooooonly here because the people who bought it didn't have a way to get it home. And do I have a truck? And then I'd need someone to help me unload it too, that's pretty tough. Punchline: Their delivery fee is $175. Thanks, but no thanks, I said, and exited the shadowy back room. Behind me, he called "what, you don't have *any* interest?" It felt like being shouted down by a used car salesman. Once I was home, I double checked Craigslist to see their posts. On the same day of my visit, they posted a $350 treadmill. I'm never going back & I'm telling everyone I know to beware.

I very kindly asked if coupons can get piled, while showing them a sign that fell off to the ground. I did not mention it was a coupon at all but the girl at the register answered rudely that what I was holding was not a coupon... which I never said it was. Anyway, and older woman next to her quickly jumped on as well and basically yelled at my boyfriend and I saying, "THAT IS NOT A COUPON." Again not even letting us speak, she just kept saying how we stole their sign and mumbling stuff under her breath. I was asking if I can pile the 20% discount on the wall and the discounts already applied at checkout. My mistake was saying "coupon" instead of "discounts" but they never let me explain. Just rude. If they are so miserable at their jobs, maybe they shouldnt work here, but dont take it out on customers.
