I am writing to express my frustration with how my wife and I were treated during our visit on June 6, 2026. My wife has a serious back condition and lives with a disability. She also had her medical task-trained service dog with her at the time. We are not new customers--your staff has seen us in the store multiple times before, both with and without the service dog--so there should already be awareness of her condition. When we arrived, there were four power scooters available, and we asked to borrow one, as we have done many times in the past without any issue. However, we were stopped by an employee named Neil, and my wife was told she could not use a scooter--even after explaining that she has a metal rod affecting her spine and was in pain. We were then directed to Kristin near the entrance. After waiting several minutes, she called a manager but largely ignored what I was explaining about my wife's condition. Despite clearly communicating the situation--and despite your staff being familiar with us--we were denied use of a scooter and told they needed to keep all four available for other customers. I even offered to leave my driver's license as collateral, but that was dismissed without any consideration. Frustrated and disappointed, we left the store. Afterward, we called and spoke with Elizabeth, who was far more understanding and willing to help--something the in-store staff did not offer at all. We have always borrowed carts from your store without issue, so this experience was both confusing and upsetting. The lack of empathy, consistency, and willingness to accommodate someone with a known disability is unacceptable. I was fully intending to make a purchase during that visit, but instead, we left feeling disrespected and overlooked. This situation could have been handled very differently with even a small amount of understanding and basic customer care. I hope this is addressed so that no other customer--especially someone with a disability--is treated this way. Very disappointed, read more

The Gurnee location Bass Pro Shop has a good selection of sporting clothes and many unique items. We were greeted very nicely at the entrance by Bob. They have a shooting range as well as the marine aquarium with fish species you'd find in the area lakes. I noticed that depending on where in the country you visit one of their shops, there's always items that are exclusive to just that state. In my own opinion, sale prices aren't really a good deal to be found. They don't mark items down much. read more

Was very disappointed. We took a kid here to play the game and it was all broken. To start they have taken half out probably for that reason. The change machine broke no change. A lot of the items don't do anything when you hit the sensor. Very underwhelming and disappointing. We did walk around and see the fish and check out the store some. I did see an item I wanted with of course no price and the check out like was long and only one person ringing. I did grab another associate and they were able to check price. I asked them to hold it and I would be back to get it. So they said ok. I go in the mall for less the. And your I had to get my other people. We go back and it's gone. I love Bass Pro Shops! Bass Pro is a must visit for anyone who likes the outdoors and/or enjoys fishing, hunting, camping and shooting. They have everything from fishing rods to firearms. There's also a huge clothing section towards the back of the store as well. From everything I've seen in the store, the prices are pretty reasonable and a good selection of anything for anyone that likes the outdoors. There's also a giant fish tank towards the back of the store that's really cool. In the front of the store there is a fun miscellaneous section full of hot sauces, dog toys and more. The workers I've encountered all are friendly. I'd recommend a visit, a unique store for sure. read more

I had never shopped in a Bass Pro Shop before last week. It was my first and last time. The staff was generally rude and unhelpful. You can adhere to policy and follow the rules while still providing good service. In general, the attitude was, "We're doing you a favor by selling you this." The Gurnee store is the worst. I purchased and fully paid for a handgun online. I completed all the paperwork and received a call to come pick it up. When I came to pick it up, I didn't have a paper receipt with me. Assumed they could look me up and find my recip Just an FYI. We don't have to shop at your store. It's too big, and you're far too proud of it. read more

Horrible service. I went to purchase a gift for my grandson. Jerry was at the counter. He literally looked at us and walked away. I found another employee who informed me that I need to add my name to a list to be waited on. Jerry could have told me this 20 minutes earlier. How many times I have gone in this store and experienced the service so bad that I left without buying anything nor could I get anybody to help me. Some said it's not my department and not even offered help. Holiday pictures with Santa! Not only is Bass Pro a fun place to shop, we love that they allow dogs and also have free pictures with Santa. They are always SO friendly to us when we shop there and they allow us to bring in our (leashed!) golden retriever and usually give him a biscuit. We love having a fun place to take our dog in to get more socialization also! We always buy a photo package (the free one is a 4x6 with the Bass Pro logo on it) and the package photos don't have the logo so we are able to send our to family for Christmas. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking out this Bass Pro. It's a fun place to explore with a huge fish tank and a whole outdoor feel. Happy Shopping! read more

Josh in the Archery department is phenomenal! He took the time to answer every question I had regarding my bow and arrows and archery in general (which was a lot of question, lol) JJosh made sure I had everything I needed and that my bow was adjusted and sighted correctly in preparation for my upcoming first time hunting. A bit of a drive, 32.8 miles to be exact, so I usually combine trips here with walking the entire mall and trying a great restaurant close by. Bass Pro Shops is a magical place if you're a little kid or a fisherman who's never caught a walleye, Northern Pike, largemouth bass or black crappie - because they have a large fish tank and you can watch these majestic fresh water fish, as long as you'd like! Today they had a great deal going, 10 percent off of gift cards. Perfect for saving even more on great deals. Excellent and attentive service, there's a high level of customer service here - you'll get all of your questions answered. Long tenured staff pays off for a business. They also have a range on the second floor and an archery range as well (very rare to have both). Their gun range can also accommodate rifles. This is not a complaint on employee or the store. It's a complaint on the corporate office. I recently went to the Gurnee Bass Pro shop. Everything was fine until I was approached by a person who started a conversation with me. Turned out this person was working with a time share group. After telling them I wasn't interested in a time share they became aggressive with their sale pitch and kept blocking my movement. They proceeded to follow me making me uncomfortable. I spoke to employees who worked there and was told they couldn't do anything and were aware of the problems they cause. Was advised that it was a Corporate decision to allow them to solicit in the store. I won't be spending my money there anymore. read more

Service was the problem I was there today, Friday 30th at 3 pm Went to buy 2 pistol for self defense and get info on the shooting range. Both me and wife decided this together and need to take safety course first. If your in store cameras were working to can see me by the gun cases going back and forth to get some information and try to pick out a couple of pistols. You should see me I was in blue jeans and blue shirt with a black Cadillac hat on. And you won't see is nobody would even recognize me as a customer there were 3 guys but look liked they were to busy to help me, not busy with customers as there were only a few there. I went to order a firearm from Bass Pro in Gurnee illinois today. After waiting patiently for 45 minutes I asked to order a firearm. I was told to go home and get on my computer and order it and come back to do the paperwork. I was able to order before at this same store. Joe and Ty were extremely helpful and friendly! They clearly love their jobs. I went in looking for bass lures and they set me up with everything I needed. They gave me tips and showed me what they use when they fish. I've caught so many ever since then! They take their time and make sure to answer all your questions. read more

I miss my Bass Pro Shops because since I moved to Milwaukee I just don't get over to it anymore like I used to when I lived in Kenosha. It has always had everything I have ever stoped in for with plenty of options, I bought my first GPS unit here when they were like $600 for a hand held and looked like a generic Atari screen. It's really a destination stop for all ages and like having a mini wildlife museum to enjoy while you shop with all the stuffed animals and the live fish ponds with water falls. The make your own jerky and sausage section is small compared Cabelas but I found my self in the section getting a new jerky mix to try. My dad turned me on to Bass Pro Shops many years ago and I still like stopping by to look around because I never know what I will leave with. It's definitely a place to spend some time in when visiting Gurnee Mills and the coolest store there. read more

This store is HUGE! (Yuuuuge!) Stopped in again recently, as they were having their big February fishing spectacular. In fact, they'll have a bunch of pro fishing guests from Feb 19-21, 2016. My son and I stocked up on some fishing lures, fishing line, and gear. I like BPS, but I secretly like Cabela's selection better. Still, this BPS is very clean, mostly well-stocked, some items were on mega sale and the whole shelf was licked clean. They have camping, boats, fishing, guns, archery, and outdoor clothes. Tip: You can enter Bass Pro Shop through the Mall! Staff seem pretty knowledgeable here, and there's lots of staff around. As people have mentioned, the fish aquariums and dioramas here are pimp. read more

Wow, I am overcome with emotion while penning this entry. I was a little intimidated because there were so many entrances but then I guess I figured I could just use the biggest one. The writing over the entrance said "for fishermen, hunters, and other liars," which I didn't care for because it was a very otherizing experience and I felt marginalized. upon entering the store though I was greeted by the happy yelps of children and dogs. My party and I needed to locate the restroom and it was a frontier-level quest of unparalleled adventure locating it. there was a map outside the restroom of the United States but I wished it was a map of the store because it was very large. There was a very nice worker who told us where the restroom was and he said it was by the cabin which didn't make sense until we got there which was a fun twist. In the restroom the toilet paper was an adequate balance of softness and strength, which was comforting during these emotionally turbulent times. We visited the fish tank next, and the depths of beauty brought a tear mine eye. We stopped to capture the moment with a photograph and the beautiful spotted gar graced our moment of posterity. When browsing around the ladieswear section I was pleasantly surprised by the softness of fabrics and also the adorable canines wandering in and out of my eyeball buffet. After the others in my band finished their shopping we meandered toward the checkout, where I remarked at the price of the beef and venison jerky. We were able to have a stimulating conversation about the rising cost of meat. This (meat prices) is a topic that I will surely bring to my next campaign. The checkout line I was pleasantly surprised to see a great bowl of men's lip protector. The person who checked us out at the exit was very nice and her tone was befriending. She regaled us with tales of puppies within the scope of her role and it was appreciated by everyone. Upon exiting I was anticipating an oasis at the the pool up ahead, but much to my dismay all that lay before me was emptiness in the form of a rocky pool with not a drop of life giving water. My main opportunities for growth in my review for bass pro shops would definitely be the otherizing entrance and the subpar pool experience. Perhaps a map of the store could also assist your customers who are virgin bassers. read more

Great store with lots of cool goodies! One stop shop for all outdoor needs. Fishing, camping, grilling, hunting, boating... Why go elsewhere else? This place has it all. It's the best place to get high end rods & reels for full retail. I recently saw a $400 reel there I just had to have. Found it online for $150 cheaper. Plus, no tax with my online purchase. Saving money makes me happy, I'll be sure to spend the savings on lots of craft beer! ;-) This place is loaded with experts. It almost seems to be part of their hiring requirement. Staff walking the floor may not know the answer but they will introduce you to the know all end all on the topic. It's easy to speak to someone who has the same passion as you do. I don't even mind the drive from Milwaukee down just South of the border. read more

I wanna find me a pellet gun and shoot some of those bushy critters that have found there way into my attic & tearin up my yard stashing their goodies for the winter. I want to start this review on a good note that when my grandmother and I visited there really really nice greeters who were extremely helpful. We were on the hunt (in bass pro) for some Christmas gifts and had excellent help from 2 very kind ladies on the floor. They were very informed about where everything that we needed was and helped us find the sizes we were looking for. However when we were checking out we were treated terribly hostile. At the beginning Alexa was checking us out and had a not so nice attitude, my grandmother was trying to use her rewards and I guess Alexa was annoyed due to questions we had about redeeming them. Suddenly another associate Yardley appeared as back up followed by yet another associate Ben. It's was bazaar to have 3 associates trying to "check us out" but they were very rude, hostile and began to shout at us while we were trying to pay. I asked my grandmother that we should hurry so they would stop yelling at us to which Alexa responded very aggressively that no one was yelling at us, while shouting at us. I don't know why it takes 3 people to check out 1 flannel, 1 fishing lure and 1 pack of bait but then yell at my grandmother and I because we had questions about redeeming her points. I live in another state and have never been treated this way back home. I wish I could have given 5 stars to the wonderful people who were amazing help but watch out for those 3... not helpful, kind, or worth returning for. read more

LOVE me some Bass Pro!! I'm not a huge sportsman, but when I need "stuff" that goes along with fishing/camping/hunting/etc, this is the place to come. I like Bass Pro more than Cabela's. I find Bass Pro to be so much more organized, have a larger variety and just be more aesthetically pleasing in general. I love walking up and down the aisles checking out all the fun things that I never even knew existed. LOL. There's something for everyone here! Very inclusive. Such a cool store in general too, with all the stuffed animals, the beautiful fish tank, the little river and bridge, etc... I hear they also have a shooting range, but i've never been in it. They carry nice brands. Have dressing rooms available. There's always employees around. It's nicely lit and very well laid out. Overall i highly recommend a stop here! You'll enjoy it, and so will the kids! read more

Mostly people were nice but there's people that will make fun of you from earshot. I was there and a nice lady approached me to apply for a card and receive $20 and I figured that sounds good. I am mostly going to talk about the indoor pistol range because that's what I used on my latest visit. The process is pretty complicated as far as ranges go but that's because the place is HUGE and well, they don't want anyone shooting up the place. You go to the desk put your piece on the counter he clears it puts a trigger lock on the thing zip ties the case and after that he calls up the range to see if there are any spots. Fortunately, for me there was. I was a walk in on a weekend but when I got up there it was empty with only one lane taken up. The rules here a different from other places, if you are from Illinois you NEED a FOID (Firearm owner's id) card to shoot. Period. No sponsoring someone on, much to the sadness of my friend who really wanted to shoot. Sorry, Charlie. Screw him, I had rounds to burn and time on my hands-I didn't make the trip to Gurnee for nothing, after all. Targets, plus range time came out to a little over $13 bucks, but thinking about it, that's pretty expensive-for range time anyway. I thought it was really cheap at the time but $8 for a half hour is well, maybe a little below average. It works if you don't use the whole hour at a range, but otherwise okay. The facility itself is immaculate, it's super cold first of all but that's because with two lanes the AC is overkill. If they were all full I can see how setting the thermostat on 'Antarctica' would be appropriate. The lanes are state of the art- as good as I have seen in a lot of ranges, even has one of those key pad things that dials in the distance you want. No guesstimating. The staff is really friendly, I've mentioned before how gun enthusiasts in Illinois are a friendly bunch because they're aren't too many of us. The same goes for here, the range guy was an older gentleman who kind of looked like the Pepperidge farm guy and it was fun to listen to him talk. I was all set to go (hearing protection in, targets paid for, eye pro on) when he was talking, stopped himself asked "so, what else do you need?" He forgot that I was square and ready to shoot. There are two reviews here... one for the store and then one for the gun range: The STORE: As other Yelpers point out, this place is big, and the decor is all decked out with the typical outdoors type of items, animal heads, birds, smaller game animals and the like. The aquarium and small little stream lined by artificial foliage is a great touch too. If nothing else, this is a nice place to walk thru just to look over the decor. If you have kids there is a little target range, much like you would see at a six flags. Of course here you'll find tons and tons of fishing gear, a good selection of rifles, shotguns and pistols, as well as boats, some camping gear and all sorts of clothing geared to the outdoor enthusiast. There is an archery section and a limited knife selection as well. If you look thru the clothing sections, you can find sizes up to 5X on some of the racks. I have found is that the staff here are generally on top of their game when it comes to knowing the product. I've at least experienced this with the guys behind the gun counter... they are full of good information and advice which is helping me narrow down my search for a pistol. I also like this place for it at times has some quirky items which you normally would not find someplace else, yet it is a great device. As typical with other BPS, this place does come with a price. So, if I'm researching something, and want to get more than what is on-line I'll come here and obtain some great advice and hands on inspection. I'll then look else where to see if I can find it cheaper and if not, then I'll return back to BPS and get it or order it on-line. As there are not many BPS around, this is one of those stores that many people have not visited. So, this is a nice walk in for friends or relatives who are visiting, and they like this sort of thing... even if it is just to gawk at the layout/decor of the place. Overall, I give the store 4 stars. *********************************************************************************** The RANGE: For the range itself I'll break it up a bit in terms of rating the various things: Check In Process: For obvious reasons they simply don't want you walking through the store with gun and ammo in hand. Thus, the check in process is a bit lengthily... or at least time consuming as they lock up everything which takes up a bit of time to do. In the end, I understand their overall security issue, but I do find it as an inconvenience. Check In = 1 Star The Staff: Overall, they are nice, but I do at times get the feeling of being talked down upon and that they have a I'm better than you attitude. There is one guy, kind of funny, but at the same time he seems to have the natural ability of rubbing people's feathers the wrong way. Staff = 2 Stars The Range: This is perhaps the cleanest range I've ever been to and well maintained. The air quality is outstanding and the noise level, even when at full capacity is extremely low. You only get a hint of a pressure wave when someone is using large bore guns. The lighting is also adequate and your able to see the target at all distances. I also like the automatic feature of sending out and retrieving the target. Although, don't forget to ask the rang master for the code in sending out & retrieving the target. Range = 5 Stars Miscellaneous: The cost is pricey as with anything associated with BassPro. Rules on the FOID card... every shooter needs one so here they don't permit you to have your friends camp on along as what other ranges permit. Misc = 2 Stars Thus, my overall rating for the Range would be 2 stars. Would I come again to use the gun range? Yes. As it just happens to be the closest range to me and on the week day there always seems to be plenty of spaces open. So, within a 90 min window, I can get here, shoot off 200 rounds and be right back home again. On the weekends however, this place is always jammed packed, thus suggest calling well in advance to reserve a spot. But, then again, it's the weekend, drive a bit further North and visit Bristol. read more

Bass Pro Shop isn't so much a retail store but an experience. It's Disneyland for the outdoors set. Sometimes I just go into the store because it's this great place for hunting and fishing gear and I like all of the taxidermy. It's a menagerie of animals with working streams, a humongous fish tank and a great ambiance. I shop here for hiking and camping gear mostly. I can usually find what I'm looking for at a price point which won't break me. I've found tents and sleeping bags and hiking boots too. There's quite a bit of clothing here. If you're looking for a man's man kind of stuff, this is the place. read more

I'm not sure how you rate the "price range" at Bass Pro, because the sky is the limit on sports buying. This is a great store and at least when it comes to fishing and boating gear, they have nearly everything. I have some very specific needs when it comes to bass fishing and the store usually has it. It's also a great destination store with all of the taxidermy animals and fish. The store also has two live-fish displays. read more

We go to the Bass Pro Shop all the time but we have never experienced service like the other day. We go in to get a fishing license and pay with $30, the bill was $24something, well the cashier only gave us the change minus the $5 bill owed back. She asks if she could help us with anything else and my boyfriend said I didn't get my $5 back yet. She says she thought he gave her $25 and called her manager over their walkie talkie. The manager tells her to take his name and phone number and they'll call back if the drawer is over $5. I asked, why can't the manager come count the drawer now. She says they only count the drawers in the morning. Um, OK... but you just shorted us, so this would be a good exception. All she could say was she's sorry. Anyway, I know people make mistakes but its unfair to the customer to have to wait to hear from the manager the next day on behalf of the cashier's mistake. I know it's only $5 but have you seen the price of gas lately?! That will get me a gallon... Well... they ended up calling the next day and offered his $5 back to him in the form of a gift card...
