I would have given no stars if this app allowed me too! My son worked at Dunham for almost a year. He was told he might work up towards a Manager position. That motivated him to work even harder. In fact the General Manager would ask him to stay till 1am way after store closing to help with the shoe department. Of course wanting to be a manager he said yes every time asked. Well after trying to see when he may get promoted he felt he was being taken advantage of that he put in his two weeks after two months of staying after close to help set up displays and what not. They put him on the schedule for 1 day in two weeks. That's not a cooperation that cares for their employees. I would NOT recommend this chain. Wow 1.5 star rating on average, yikes! I've shopped at this particular Dunhams probably a half a dozen times. I find that their prices are better than Dicks Sporting Goods and they have good coupons. They have a decent selection of some items but others the selection is scarce. For example if you need a new MSU or UM t-shirt or hoodie they have tons but if you need a baseball tee for a 3 year old they have one. Strange but true. I do agree with some of the comments by others that their customer service is lacking. I wondered around the shoe department for awhile until I found out that the employee for this department apparently hibernates in the stock room. I was able to get him to pop his head out long enough to get my size but don't expect any personalized attention here. Also, very limited space to try shoes on. Aside from mister shoe guy there were only two other employees in the whole store, it's the weekend so that seems strange. But I'll likely come back because as I said their shoe prices are better than their competition and they have a decent selection of workout clothes. read more

Needed to return an item but apparently lost part of the receipt and only had the dated part with coupons attached. I get it, they can't see exactly what I purchased. However, they entered my phone number for my purchase AND I paid with a card, so there has to be a record of it somewhere in their system. Virtually every other store can look up purchases via card payment...but not Dunhams. The clerk called the manager, and he rudely told me "as my customer service representative already stated" they couldn't return anything without a receipt. I guess I wouldn't be so upset if there was literally a single employee in the store available to help with the purchase to begin with. read more

I was a long time customer at the Benton Harbor store. I bought some running shoes. Tried on at home (never will do again)... lost my receipt and tried to return for instore credit and buy a MORE expensive running shoes. The manager told me the "store policy" doesn't allow any returns with out a receipt. I asked if you can look up via the credit card I used...NO, NO and NO...no receipt your screwed. I bought 2 Mauser m15's at Dunhams and both guns were missing sights that were advertised to be included. Went back and the salesmen only offered sights for $25 each. Worse, he said that they KNEW that many of them didn't have the sights packed in the boxes. They have to open the boxes to secure the gun, so he KNEW AT THE TIME OF SALE he was selling me 2 guns that were INCOMPLETE!!! Went to review the gun, but Dunhams site won't let me review ONLY this gun to warn others to check for missing sights. Also, Dunhams nor anyone else sells magazines for this gun. Even after a 4 hour hard internet search, no magazines. This is one of Dunhams most popular guns, but they block any reviews for it, to keep selling this gun with missing parts. If yo can buy a firearm from a reputable gun dealer or store you should. I purchased a rifle at the Waterford Michigan store that had a defective magazine and the salesman that sold it to me was very little help. He told me that they didn't make the rifle, they just sold it to me and I would have to contact the manufacturer. The manufacture is sending me a new magazine but I would think Dunham's would replace it and deal with the manufacture. I read on the internet that some other people had similar problems with the same firearm and the purchased at different gun stores and the store replaced it for them. I saw a particular exercise bike at a Wisconsin store on sale so my wife and I thought about it for a day then decided we liked it. We called back the next day to order 2 of them. The store not only didn't have any in stock, but was unable to check inventory at other branches and also was unable to give any indication of when any stock might come in. They said we had to call other stores ourselves. So we did. 10 other stores. Same story. We were willing to drive to any store in the state for these bikes you have on sale. I didn't know when I shopped at Dunham's the "discounts" extended to their customer service and training. I decided to stop in and pick up some Titleist V1 golf balls. Found a a few damaged boxes way in the back and took one up to checkout. On the way I asked an associate can you get these golf balls for me and he stated they are at the front desk. I understand high value items of $49+ must be kept secure at all time! I pay and almost walk out when I realize, the box is almost empty. I turn to the cashier and say did you get the golf balls? She looks confused. I then explain to her they are behind the front desk. She asks a colleague and he motions to a partially open cabinet. I think, this must be the location of where they keep such valuables. She goes and puts the golf balls in the box and I notice something is wrong. They are V1x not V1. I then ask her and she says this is all we have LOL. Like she could see through the secure cabinet! I leave, get home and find out my dad wanted V1's so I reach out to the store and explain the situation. He says they have them and to come back in. Yes, my favorite customer service solution for poor training and management. Get back in your car on Christmas Eve and drive back to the store and we will give you what you paid for, should've received and what we lied and said we didn't have. But wait, he just offered 20% off for the inconvenience! That makes my time with $10!! So we get back in the car go up there and get the right balls. When asked about the discount, we are told we don't know who said that, etc. Again we are bamboozled by the people of Dunham's. When I get home I call the store back and speak to a manager and explain the situation. She tells me there are 5 managers working LOL and to come back up there. At this point, I think I'm in a Saw movie and jigsaw wants to play a game. That game is for Titleist V1 and the cost is my time, gas and sanity on Christmas Eve. I wish I had read the reviews before my cousin and I decided to wander in. Today was a beautiful day - rare in March in the state of MI. So we decided to walk from Target to Kroger's where we were on our way to pick up some goodies to bake cookies. Feeling good about the sun, and about the cookies we were going to be eating in a few hours we decided to stop in and see if we could find some shoes for my niece. Strangely I see what Jennifer L. under me here is speaking of - sunlight doesn't seem to reach this store. It was depressing to be inside, and there was nobody around to help us. I lapped the store twice in order to find an associate to get the size shoe we wanted. We found nobody. Asked twice...and then left. At least we were back in the sunlight! read more

What a strange store...I walked in mid-morning on a weekday and had gotten all the way to the back of the store before I spotted another human being. I was on the hunt for a pedometer...when I found them, the selection was shockingly lacking. Grabbed the best of the meager offerings (at this point wishing I'd just braved Wal-Mart's sporting goods section) and headed up front. Was quickly checked out by a very nice girl and headed home. The pedometer I bought proved to be COMPLETELY whack in terms of keeping track of my daily steps AND my evening walks (confirmed by my old pedometer, Runkeeper, and GMaps pedometer) so within a few days I was back in Dunham's to return it. I had the receipt and original packaging so they didn't give me a problem about returning it...yet, it seemed like a big hassle and took longer than just about any other cut-and-dry return I've ever done...considering once again there were NO OTHER CUSTOMERS IN THE STORE. My experience wasn't straight-out horrible, but based on the poor selection (on pedometers!! Shouldn't they have a better selection than Wal-Mart?!?) and the lack of staff on hand if I actually needed help picking something out...I won't be back. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at Dunhams in Ashtabula the people are great, but their corporate is terrible. I put 3 adult bikes in layaway with the intent to pay in full when they are assembled, promised on the 14th, no show of assemblers on 14th, 15th, 16, or the 17th. I called the store everyday to learn they did not know, it is a corporate responsibility. The 2 bikes were gifts for that weekend. On the 17th I learned they are coming on the 19th. This is not acceptable, the gifts are late, I am a returning customer. I will not trust Dunhams with anything that I need for a specific weekend even if I am told otherwise. Very disappointed. The manager and the employees do not deserve to look like they are not doing their job when it is corporate that dictates who and when an assembler will arrive. Corporate should consider compensating for this incompetence. read more

Refused to sell a gun to us because after we paid for it and waited for 3 hours to let them try and locate the box. Retired military and police officer and passed back ground check. And management never said I'm sorry or that he could offer another solution. (order another). He just shrugged his shoulders. The store was nasty and very unprofessional. The staff is friendly, but they jam so much product into the store, two people can't walk down an aisle. If you need to look at something and someone else is anywhere around you, you have to wait for them to move so you can view a product. It's frustrating and stressful, especially if you have kids in the store. This is specific to their store in Troy - not sure about others. Prices are HIGH. The sale prices start to rival places like Dick's but they're still off. Their website is a joke. Looks like it was created 15 years ago, but someone forgot to edit it. I went to the Maysville KY store today 5/9/21. I was looking for crampons or something with spikes with which I could now a hill. The manager was walking my way and I approached him with the question of crampons. He stopped long enough to say "at" me, "I don't know what those are" As he was walking away I tried to tell him my situation and with his head half turned while he was walking away said "try baseball cleats". So I looked at the baseball cleats. I asked if they had a return policy because I wasn't sure the cleats would work. It's a steep hill. He said I couldn't return them. It didn't matter. They would be considered used if I out them on and stood on my hill for even a second. So I moved on. I stopped by the golf department on my way out at which time I heard the same manager tell at one of the employees "yeah, I told them you like you've been out all night drinking". She looked at me very embarrassed and he just thought that was funny. I like the store ok for certain things but this jerk is definitely a bad hire! read more

I don't recommend this store at all! The shelf tags had incorrect prices and the manager was very rude and inappropriate. The employees have are absolutely clueless! Staff were wearing masks and friendly but, even though 50 signs on the doors indicating masks must be worn or NO ENTRY, atleast half the customers were not wearing masks and were never spoken to. If you are not enforcing your own rules I doubt that you are cleaning or sanitizing properly either. We left! read more

Purchased a River 57 pistol from the Manistee store thinking they would carry ammo didn't have any the day I got it been back there a few time's still no luck of course the staff is no help looked again today 10-19-2020 all there shelves are tagged with the ammo they carry but no sign of a tagged space for ammo for the pistol they sold me go figure will try there a few more times most places carry ammo for the guns you buy. Very disappointed at this point. Manistee Mi. Buyers beware cj5 before you buy I know ammo is hard to come by but come on at least carry the ammo for the guns you sell you might run out but you have to at least carry it. The customer service at this store is on point. It was a busy Friday before softball season and the shoe person was helping three or four sets flawlessly. The store manager was accommodating at the register and to help me find my missing shoe, and fast. The person on register was patient. Quite possibly the smallest Dunham's I've ever been in! Everything seems so squished together!

I've shopped this chain off and on for over 10 years and probably dropped over $500 on them for merchandise during that time, never returning anything ever, until today. Now as someone in the personal care industry, I pay for things the way I'm paid, in cash, which most small independent merchants prefer. Apparently this ain't the case with wannabe big box chain stores like locally based Dunhams. They gladly took my money for a Fleece Hoodie earlier today, which I noticed was one size too small, once I got back to the bus stop to go home. So rather than wait several days, I missed that bus and walked back to the store to exchange the hoodie for one size larger, not having worn the item or removed any of the tags. Still, that prick of a store manager informed me I could only exchange it for one size larger if I provided them with my STATE ID CARD. I informed them I paid cash to be private, haven't even worn the item just purchased minutes before and didn't see any sign about any returns need STATE ID. I was advised the requirement is printed in small type on the receipt. Still they persisted that the hoodie couldn't be exchanged without first allowing them to enter my STATE ID info. into their computer system..Hello ID thieves! I grabbed my stuff, leaving the store, never to return. I'll have my neighbor return this item for a FULL REFUND. She don't care about having her ID info. in databases. Piss poor service! This place is a pure example of how bad attitudes and behavior can trickle down from management to entry level employees. Went here to purchase a pair of new bowling shoes asked the manager (middle aged caucasian lady) for a point in the right direction toward bowling shoes and she barely lifted her head to assist me. In a separate incident I also later in the same shopping experience while getting my items rang up inquired the cashier about the manager and he informed me "yea shes a bitch". The last two times i have gone into Dunham's in Beaver Dam i walked out shaking my head at the terrible customer service i encounter there. The employees are on their cell phones, completely oblivious to customers. Every time i need help i have to go in search someone to help me. Tonight i had to ask for someone who knew more about the department. The manager was brought out, he wasnt much better at customer service than the employee.
