Seasonal treat - spider donut! A frosted donut with a chocolate munchkin in the middle.
    Elle B.

This has been my Dunkin' since I moved to the area a year and a half ago. I'm not sure why the ratings are so low here because it's actually dependably average. Dunkin' Donuts is not fancy, gourmet, or boutique bakery treats, y'all. It's fast food breakfast pastries and coffee and you get what you pay for. This location seems to get pretty busy so you might catch them when the lobby is a little disheveled or the donut selection is slim, but the staff is always incredibly friendly and quick to deliver your order. I'd say my drink is made to my liking about 80% of the time. If I remember to try my drink before I leave the store, they've always been willing to fix any issues. I don't eat much of the other prepared food, but I can always find a donut or two to pair with my latte. Lately, there also seem to be more themed donuts in the mix - spiders and snowmen anyone?! The thing that really keeps me coming back though is the staff. I've seen a lot of different faces like any fast food place, but they're usually really cheerful or goofy and brighten my mornings.

There's way too much icing on this thing, not!

It's decent coffee. I prefer a stronger taste than Dunkins espresso. But all in all a great location. The store does really well.

A disgrace to call these donuts. They are shipped in frozen and defrosted. The coffee is ok, which is why I gave it 1 star.

Whatever Sprinkles Your Donuts!…read more For nutritional and blood sugar reasons, I largely stay out of donut shops. There are exceptions like Tim Horton's in Canada and most recently Donutland. This is the real deal and with lots of delicious sugar bombs to choose from, courtesy of an engaged staff. And contrary to the urban legend, no donut-loving police officers were present during my visits. Prices have gone up over the years, with my chocolate old fashioned the first morning, and what I call a "Hawkeye Sprinkled" donut the second morning running at $1.84 each. The first morning's donut was consumed on the way to Iowa City, while the 2nd one was saved for the airplane flying out of Cedar Rapids. I found their coffee to be pretty good too. Note: Plenty of casual inside seating is available, as is nice selection of branded items.

We stopped into Donutland on a whim to pick up a few donuts and a T‑shirt, and wound up delighted…read more I ordered two of their famous blueberry‑filled donuts -- WOW. The filling tasted like a fresh blueberry pie: bright, jammy, and perfectly balanced against tender, slightly pillowy dough. The glaze was light enough to let the fruit shine. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and very helpful in guiding my choices. The shop's ambiance evokes an old‑school donut parlor -- warm, unpretentious, and comforting. This was my first Donutland donut, and it surely won't be my last. I'll be back.

I'm going to guess they can make for tough customers. It's a pretty clean store and like all Hy Vees it's well stocked. They sell Don Javier's chips from Silvis, IL or somewhere over there by the Quad Cities. They're expensive, but they're the closest thing to the chips in a Mexican restaurant you can find. But I digress. The meat counter is good, there's no blood on floor on the customer side of the counter. The bakery same. Restaurant area ditto. I like Hy Vee's deli/restaurant but... man, the Chinese or "Hy-Chi" can be sketchy. It's not the employees' fault I'm sure. It's whatever recipes they use. Then again, it just might be Chinese food generally and it may be personal. The liquor store is great. You want booze, you got booze. This keeps the hard pretzel people I mentioned earlier happy. The staff is top notch. There's a really friendly woman who works here that is from Bosnia. She's got a clipped accent and based on what I saw I think she knows her regulars. I think working here probably requires a thick skin because you've got a mix of the Kirkwood students, the NewBo neighborhood (I assume - because that Hy Vee just north of down town - shuddering - it's a lil rough), and the pretzelish people mentioned above. Almost every time I got here I'm with my love which means I'm going to ask her loud enough for the cashier to hear what her name is today. Or whether she is using the credit card we found on the street the other day. Or if she can sign for the pseudo this time because I'm at my limit this time. Or "hurry up - I can see a cop and the Judge warned us what would happen if we broke the restraining order". Or the always reliable, "please don't hit me when we get out to the car - I'll be good". Granted sometimes the staff is dumbstruck, but most of the time they just smile and/or laugh and enjoy the drama. This is a good place to shop. Tell them Dick sent you.

The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is some of their prices are a little high at times and the wine and spirits is not as good as other Hy-Vees. For convenience and availability of items I really like going here.

So I paid my nine dollars and change and waited for my order to be "made." After receiving my order, I drove 15 minutes to my destination and shared the donuts. We noticed the donuts were not "freshly made" as inferred, the donuts were were cold like they had been frozen and thawed out or refrigerated. They had a rough/tough texture, but had fresh frosting on them. Have others had this experience with this store.? Needless to say, we threw them in the garbage.

It would seem simple enough actually. A very simple order, a sesame bagel with butter. But for some…read morereason on 4 visits I received the bagel 3 different ways. First visit - walk in. I ordered a sesame bagel with butter, to go. I was asked if I wanted it toasted. I replied 'no' and the order was correct. Second visit - drive thru. I ordered a sesame bagel with butter. I was not asked if I wanted it toasted. When I got home I discovered that the bagel had been toasted. I ate it anyway, but it wasn't nearly as good. Third visit - drive thru. I ordered a sesame bagel with butter. I specified not toasted. I received the order correctly prepared. Fourth visit - walk in. I ordered a sesame bagel with butter. I was not asked if I wanted it toasted. After paying I wanted to confirm that I did not want the bagel toasted. The chap behind the counter had to rush over to the bloke preparing the bagel and tell him not to toast it. I inquired as to why they toast bagels if I don't request it. He stated 'that's the way we do it'. If that is the case, why have I been asked previously if I wanted it toasted? He really didn't seem interested in giving a reasoned response as did another young lady behind the counter. She stated that I was the only one ever to ask for a bagel, and it will be my term, 'raw'. Seriously? Finally spoke to one of the managers and she agreed that they should ask if a customer wants a bagel toasted. All good, right? Nope. I get to my destination to enjoy my bagel with butter. And find that they spread a little butter on the bagel, and then included a knife with two cups of hard butter for me to finish what they started. If I wanted to apply my own butter I would have went to Panera!!! I don't want hard butter which is nearly impossible to spread with a flimsy plastic knife. Would it not have been easier for the bloke with a medal knife, who already put butter on the bagel to apply more to it? So there it is, a simple buttered sesame bagel prepared 3 ways on 4 visits. What has this world become? I'd be afraid to order one of those multi-faceted morning cups of coffee fearing I'd get something different every time through the drive thru.
