I can't remember the last time I actually walked into a Dunkin and not sure what made me to it today but what a pleasant surprise! This location is completely remodeled and looks fantastic. The displays make the treats look great and the drinks on bar like taps are fabulous. Well done, I'll definitely walk in more instead of the drive through to interact with the friendly staff!

It literally melts in your mouth--light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. My boys couldn't get enough! The maple latte was just as good--rich, smooth, and delicious. And somehow the avocado toast was just as impressive--fresh, flavorful, and the perfect savory balance. Everything here tastes insanely high-quality and made with intention. You can tell the difference immediately. I'm ruined now--no other donut will compare.

They spent the money and they have a nice espresso machine. Which of course is ultimately the only thing that matters to me - the coffee. But let's talk about the donuts. Because this is a donut shop. They are large. Like Americans. They are not particularly inspiring. They are cake-like - with the exception of the apple fritter one which was a gooey greasy mess. None of them are really donuts. I got four of them to go. I took a bite of each and that was more than enough. Even my high school aged son passed them over after a few bites. Now for the surprise, and the reason that this is not a more scathing review. The coffee was surprisingly okay. I ordered a Cortado. Of course it was served in the only sized cup they have so it wasn't properly presented, but it was reasonably good and I drank the whole thing. So, doughnut shop: coffee - good, donuts - meh. Add to this the inexplicable hyper-popularity that causes there to be a line around the block and I would say overall - not worth the time unless you catch it at an hour when there's no wait.

We stopped in on a Saturday morning and got some bagels as well as a pistachio muffin. The donuts looked really good but I had a hankering for a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel and the one I had was delicious. The bagel wasn't as big as I'm used to in NYC but that was great because it was easy to eat and not overly doughy. The real star was the pistachio muffin. That was hands down the best muffin I've ever had. The inside was crowded with a group of older gentlemen holding court but we were able to get a table on the sidewalk to eat and watch the world go by. The ladies behind the counter couldn't have been friendlier. Just super service. It was really nice. Prices were reasonable as well. If you're in Norwich, you should definitely put this on your list.

The dough from the cream filled tasted very great, like it absorbed too much fryer oil. Yet it was also dry. The flavor of the cream was not the best either. The frosting on the maple bacon had a good flavor but again, the donut dough just wasn't as fluffy or fresh tasting as I'd have preferred. The staff were very friendly and there are lots of options. They seem to do quite a lot of business. There was a line and many people inside eating donuts and having coffee.

I was driving from Hartford County to Mystic and Yelp-searched for a highly rated coffee shop near…read moremy route. Brewed Awakening stood out as having a good rating and being close to my route. Brewed Awakening does not present as a craft coffee shop focused on bean origins and things like that. It's a small, old school coffee shop, with limited inside place to sit and stand. The space is not fancy. It's more functional. But I'll tell you something . . . almost every usable inch of that space was occupied by people who seemed like long time regulars. Maybe like 5 to 6 people, but people who were happy to be there. The coffee was reasonably priced. The food, included hot dogs, donuts, breakfast sandwiches, classic sandwiches. Also reasonably priced by modern standards. There seems to be a New York connection to the shop because they use Nathan's Hot Dogs and the donuts on the counter came from New York. The woman who I assume was an owner was the only person working. She was very nice and helpful. I suspect she's a reason why they have a loyal customer base. I thought about ordering a hot dog at 8 a.m., but I had food plans in Mystic. I just ordered a Black Iced Coffee. The ice cubes were that thin round tube style with holes on the top and bottom, that you used to see a lot in restaurant fountain soda. The iced coffee itself was about average. If I just wanted a high end black iced coffee, I probably wouldn't return. I would definitely return to check out their reasonably priced food in warmer months when you can sit outside. In any event, if you're looking for a place with a lot of character, Brewed Awakening would be a good choice. It's close to the Route 9 Exit that you take on your way to the Clinton Outlets. 3.5 Stars

The staff there were very nice and worked hard to get our order to us quickly! There was maybe one table inside, but it was tight. There are a couple more full service breakfast spots in the area, but Brewed Awakening is a great option when you just want to grab a coffee or a quick bite!

I used to frequent the Wallingford location many years ago, so when I found out they opened a location in Middletown, I just had to go. The top of the donut was completely covered and the dough on both donuts were so soft and delicious. Overall, Neil's Donuts is a dang gem and one of the best things Connecticut has to offer and such a great place.
