Don't buy donuts from this Dunkin' Donuts they will sell you three day old rock, hard donuts, and then get mad about it.

My husband found this old school restaurant that was established in 1933 with high Google ratings…read morethat was conveniently located on the way to the Rialto Theatre where we were headed for a concert. So we tried it. Merichka's serves good food with good service in a non-fancy kind of restaurant. It has various dining areas and a small bar. The room we sat in was nondescript with not one decoration on the walls. The multiple ceiling fans were running so I froze all throughout dinner. I didn't get our server's name, but she provided good service and was engaging. She always came back to check on us. The other staff we encountered was thorough in delivering food and removing dirty plates. We started with cocktails, a bourbon neat for him and an old-fashioned for me. My husband enjoyed his bourbon, however my old-fashioned was Wisconsin style which I didn't enjoy. We shared the mushrooms as a starter - I have to admit they were perfection! The portion was generous and the crust was perfectly crispy without being greasy. I think we missed the boat, though, because we didn't order the onion rings, which looked sensational. Dinners come with a relish tray and a couple sides. The relish tray had cottage cheese, a bean salad and a pasta salad. Again, generous in size. My hubby had a steak with fried shrimp for dinner and his sides were a salad and twice baked potato. He ordered the steak rare because he didn't trust that it would be cooked to medium rare. He was right to go rare because it came out a little pink. I opted for the baked cod for dinner with a salad and twice baked potato. My cod was 12oz and was moist and flaky. I didn't even put a dent in my dinner because I was full from the mushrooms and relish tray. We ended up bringing most of our entrees home. I'm glad we tried this restaurant out, but honestly even though the food was decent, I didn't enjoy the bare bones atmosphere and being uncomfortable throughout dinner because the fans were on. If you like a supper club without the frills, I think you would like this place.

I buy multiple plates of it and freeze it in case I'm having a bad day or there's a freak snow storm in May. I'm not sure if the man who makes the gumbo is also the owner, but he needs a raise. It comes with cornbread. The most delicious also, and not a sliver; they give you a brick of cornbread. Such a friendly place, and actually this time while I was enjoying the quirky signs around the bar, I did take a peek at the rest of the menu. It looks like everything they have is equally worth eating. I tell you what, my soul was pretty happy walking out of there.

This place is directly across the street from the theater, so the convenience cannot be beat. It is a comfortable place with a decent bar and excellent bartender. The customer service could not be beat. The owner was on hand, making sure everything went well through the rush prior to the show across the street. waitresses and food runners were busy, thorough and efficient. The sandwiches we got were fine, but the fries were excellent! Seasoned perfectly and had a great crunch to them. The appetizers were a basic fare. Nothing to write home about, but they hit the spot.

I recently learned about this place and I didn't think too much at first. However, upon coming in I…read morenever realized how busy this place really was. It's absolutely popular and I love how customer focus it is with giving it a vibrant environment that feels like I'm inside of a college hangout. The lines here are a bit long at times of the day, there's offices conducting businesses to around you as well. It's a great place that features events happening too. They are also dog friendly and they have non - caffeinated options. Guest interactions me and my wife enjoyed were the photo booth as well as the games nearby. Prices here are very reasonable and we met the owner who was very nice and courteous! She definitely knows how to knock out orders quickly! The warm, vibrant atmosphere was inviting and I was very appease with my visit and specially that a place like this exists in Joliet Illinois is absolutely incredible. I highly recommend checking this place out!

I was excited to check out the new local coffee shop in town--and it exceeded expectations. The…read morespace was surprisingly spacious, welcoming, and perfect for chatting, studying or just chilling. The staff was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, which made the experience even more welcoming. I was torn between trying the special Nana Latte or the Horchata Latte, but with limited time, I went with the Banana Nana Latte. You could really taste the quality of the espresso, and the house-made syrup complemented it. The drink was light, flavorful, and not overly sweet (which is something I like). We also tried the cold brew, which was a solid go-to for coffee lovers. Next up was the chocolate croissant--and as people who love a good croissant (and have even had them in Italy), we were impressed. It was one of the best we've had in a long time. I'd go back for that croissant every time, though I'm also curious to try their other baked goods. As a tea lover, I'm excited to explore their tea selection. The merch was also cute and trendy. I was not able to hear the music the dj has to offer but I'm sure it's groovy and a perfect touch for the vibes. As someone who likes dj sets, I will make my back. This shop is a gem for the community, and I'm happy to keep supporting them. Can't wait to go back!
