So I finally made it in here. Passing it up for over 3 years. . I ordered the eggplant parmesan and the stuffed shells....... I am a critic of sauce, grew up in New York family owned pizzerias been in the restaurant business for long time . In my opinion, the sauce should be cooked more. And a trick add some olive oil which also helps the sauce stick to the pasta .. The eggplant was actually good I did like the idea of it being sliced long ways and fried.. The stuffed shells we're also good.. The ricotta almost as good as mine.....lol...I would like to try the subs in my next vist...but overall not a bad visit .... read more

We recently have moved to the area and this is our second time trying food from here. The first time we tried their double dough pizza and we were not really impressed to say the least. I would have rather just thrown in a frozen pizza. Cheaper and tastes better in my opinion. If you get the double dough really make sure you like dough maybe that's where we went wrong but still the taste was nothing spectacular - pretty forgettable to be honest. Last night we ordered the mostaccioli family dinner and we were again pretty disappointed. The mostaccioli was literally noodles and sauce with a couple meatballs and a couple sausage really nothing to write home about - very mediocre. The sauce was nothing amazing tasted like Ragu out of the jar. The "salad" was lettuce in a box with 3 slices of tomato which you can see in the attached picture. No red onions, cucumbers, cheese, croutons, or literally anything else that would go in a house salad. I wish I would have taken a picture to show what the "garlic bread" looked like as it was literally a sub roll with melted butter on it Apparently other reviews say they have good sandwiches. I cannot vouch for that as I have never had a sandwich from here but after these two disappointing experiences I'm not sure I really want to give them another shot at my business. If you're looking for actual Italian food that tastes good go somewhere else. read more

Stopped in with my son today for the first time for both of us. I had the Godfather, he had the Underboss. Both sandwiches were excellent. We both actually ordered a second sandwich each to bring home. I'll definitely be back. It's worth a stop if you've never been. read more

Stopped here on a whim the other dat and glad we did! The spot is a little unusual, as the building was clearly a former gas station, but the decor helps make up for it. My family got sandwiches, fries, and pizza bread, and all of it was great! Amusingly enough given the restaurant's name, some cops visited while we were there--given what looked to be a Thin Blue Line shirt on one employee, there's probably a connection there. Wish the bathroom had been open, and some of the decor about guns struck me as a little crass in this day and age, but no complaints as far as the food and the service went! Went there for the first time today on my way home. I got a 6 inch meatball sub (Wednesday special) with mozzarella and hot peppers. And a 6 inch underboss sub with everything for my boyfriend based on the review i saw here. I can't speak for my bf, but my meatball sub was very good and so filling. It came with 2 meatballs and they were massive! I was told the hot peppers were hot but for someone who eats SPICYYYY food almost everyday they are not spicy to me, but they add just a small bite & lots of flavor. Credit card machine was down when i was there but luckily i only live a few blocks away (new to area) so it was no big deal i just ran home for some cash when i got back the food was ready to go! I'm pretty picky about my italian sub places since i grew up around some of the best ones. But this place is really good and surpassed my expectations. My only reasoning on only giving them 4 stars instead of 5, is they could work on be a little friendlier. Will go back and try more things, for sure give it a try! read more

Fantastic. I came here expecting 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag Joe Pesci and got Casino De Niro. I mean wow, just blown away. You wouldn't think that this unassuming place (which despite their good effort still looks like a gas station) would have one of the best Italian subs this Yelper has had in quite some time. I had the underboss, and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was as perfectly crafted as the Sistine Chapel with the perfect ratio of meat to cheese to toppings to oil to I'm salivating now just thinking about it. There were a minimum of six other sandwiches that I NEED to try and a few others that caught my interest. They have hot sandwiches too, not just the awesome deli ones. There are also some good looking sides/salads. I had a broccoli pasta salad that was simple yet tasty. But there were a couple others that looked just as good. There were a couple cannolis there, but literally a couple. Two wrapped together in plastic wrap. I didn't get one, but if they have better packaging next time I'm there I won't be stopped. The only thing to note of this place is that you have to pull into the right side of the building when you pull into the parking lot. You can't park in from and they don't have it blocked off. Depending on the time of day it can be a pain to pull around to the other , Proper, side of the building as you can't pull through. But that is a minor complaint once you get this food in your face. read more

We ordered pizza on special buy one get one half off and the beef and cheese. The pizza was okay but i found the crust really tasteless. The sauce and cheese were just average. I would order again for the value but I would not go out of my way to get this pizza. The beef was terrible it was small bland and hardly any cheese. We tried it after reading a great review on it. Maybe this was an off day but our beef was terrible. The sub sandwiches and calzones looked really good here. I may try that next time. read more

Passing through town on our way to the disc golf course and my oh my what a nice surprise we stumbled across. Set in an old gas station, Godfather's is an older Italian classic deli. From hot sandwiches to cold subs to pizza, they do it all. I made my own sub sandwich and got the pasta salad. Delicious. Bread was fresh and just chewy and flaky enough, service was great and the prices even better. Next time in the area I'm definitely stopping back in and trying something new. I just picked up a $5 slice of old nasty pizza! It had been sitting out all day so they microwaved it to warm it up. When I called to complain the guy who answered the phone could care less that a customer was beyond un happy with their service. I've been curious about this place. I think the building was originally a gas station. Don't let the building stop you from trying the food. It's delicious! Since it was our first time I asked for a hot and cold sub recommendation. We got a meatball sandwich and the underboss cold sub. Both were great. I don't normally like meatballs but these were fantastic with real giardiniera. You can eat in or carry out. Will definitely be working our way thru the menu. read more

The place is pretty so-so. The american sub was good, and I found it to be a nice size sandwich for $5. The italian beef I got seemed like it needed a little more flavor and juice, and it wasn't even warm enough to melt the shredded cheese...so that was pretty disappointing. Went there for a quick bit and was surprised at the quality of the food and the sauce! Had the pork tenderloin sandwich, chicken parmigiana sandwich and a slice of pizza. I would say the prices for the sandwiches were great and the taste was beyond good for the lockport/lemont/new lenox area. The pizza slice was large and good tasting too, but I thought that was a little over-priced. We are all definitively going back. I can't go 5 stars until I try the pizza and Calzones but until I can pry myself away from the sandwiches they'll have to wait. My absolute favorite sandwich on earth is the Underboss. It is simply delicious. The Italian Beef and Meatball are delicious as well. They also have a variety of pasta, artichoke, olive and other types of salads you can get with your sandwich as a nice alternative to fries. Godfathers Eatery is an amazing catering restaurant. I just had them cater a family party for 40 and could not have been more pleased. Gina and her husband were wonderful at helping make my party great. They made pork sliders off menu, their meatballs and pasta were such a crowd pleaser, everyone went home happy. The Italian Beef was also excellent. Godfathers staff were so helpful and accommodating to every detail. Loved it. Gina even texted me the next day to see how it went. They are a great find. Well, we have tried to order from this place 3 times now! 3 strikes and you are out. Never will try again. First time I called on a Sunday and they were closed. Ok. Never heard of a pizza place that was closed on a Sunday but oh well. Next 2 times we tried to order for delivery at dinner time they didn't have a delivery driver available. If ya don't deliver, don't advertise that ya do. Also the guy who answered the phone was a complete jerk. I guess ya didn't need the HUGE order we were gonna make each time. Plus we order out a lot. Your lack of customer service at bad attitude lost a potential customer. I will definitely be telling everyone about this experience. read more

I really really like this place, so this review is based off my experience today. The service I had was completely bs. I usually pick up my food, but today I needed it delivered (which won't happen again), I call and get "Godfathers, hold on," and she sets the phone on the counter for 5 minutes until I hang up. I call back at least three times and get the voicemail. Wait about 20 minutes and finally she answers with the same crappy attitude. My one sandwich gets here and my total comes to 8$ and some change, I give the guy a 20$ and ask for 8$ back which is extremely generous since the place is less than 5 blocks from my house. And he responds with I only have 6$. Who delivers and doesn't keep change? I just paid 14$ for an 8 inch sandwich. And the sandwich was good, just not 14$ good. read more

An old gas station converted in a great little Godfather themed sandwich shop. I've been back many times. I definitely recommend trying the meatball, the American, and the underboss. All great sandwiches. I'm giving 4 stars because the pizza is bland, and while my wife digs their french fries, they are not my favorite. read more
