In fact, I frequent an excellent one just 2 towns over, so when I placed that order what I expected to get was an untoasted bagel with cream cheese topped with lox on both halves. What I got was a toasted bagel sandwich with cream cheese on one half and lox on the other. First, they should ALWAYS ask if the customer wants the bagel toasted. I didn't want it toasted and wasn't expecting to get it that way. A good bagel stands on its own and doesn't need toasting (the exception, of course, is for those who prefer butter in their bagels). I may return. I'm not sure, but I'll definitely make sure I specify it remain untoasted if I do. PS - if they're making pumpernickel bagels (the other bagel shop no longer does, because of poor sales) maybe some could be made without raisins?
