Properly cooked burger (med rare), juicy burger, good flavor, great ratio of burger to sauces/toppings, not overly messy but just right, and the fries were double-fried so they had that perfect crunch quality. I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich (also a lunch special), and I have to say (again), the BEST chicken sandwich I've ever had. Beautifully crisped chicken, cabbage slaw, homemade pickles, chipotle mayo were perfectly flavored, seasoned, and balanced. It's like the perfect bite in an entire sandwich and doesn't leave your hands super messy. The sandwich is typically served with fries but I chose the house salad and it was a nice burst of freshness from a rich sandwich. That dressing is delish!! Overall... this was the kind of lunch that's WELL worth the 90 minute drive (because that's exactly what we did... haha). Presumably this is because of the proximity to City Of Poughkeepsie, but I see no reason for it. This location has a bit of a confusing situation because you really need to remember which entrance you use so you can get back to your vehicle without having to circle the entire building with an overflowing cart of groceries. They are pros and cons to shopping here. Staff is extremely friendly to the point where you feel like you're at a neighborhood small grocery. But this place is massive with an abundance of imports and unique offerings from around the region. I belong to a farm cooperative, so I don't usually need vegetables. However, in this case, I did shop produce to locate some organic options to serve with the scallops and shrimp. The presentation is wonderful, but the prices are outrageous. Year over year, the same items that I purchased at Adam have increased by at least 30%. Some of that is due to the current geopolitics, but some of it is just plain exorbitant pricing. My purchase: A stop at Seafood to make sure they had 2 pounds of sea scallops approximately $24 per pound- wild caught. And the colossal shrimp more than $20 per pound also wild caught. Next stop a birthday cake - everything looks wonderful and I'm sure that there are items that are not mass produced with lots of fillers, but idea say that they probably use the same cake mixes as the less pricey supermarkets. Regardless, I had no time to bake so I picked up a 6 inch carrot cake - $26. And a fresh fruit tart 9 inch $29. A 12 pack of Parker General rolls $2.50 a quick run past the pasta department for the Italian produced linguine and onto the cash register. My cart was full and I knew my wallet would be empty soon so I headed home. Shopping at Adams is an experience rather than a chore. I definitely have the nicest mum in all of Jersey City. If I had just been more patient and gone to Stuertz right next-door, I could've gotten six fabulous donuts for $4.99. Lesson learned. The service was OK, but they didn't even know what a cruller was. Dunkin' Donuts practically invented those. Words of the wise: if you want a real doughnut, freshly made that is not loaded with preservatives, park your car next-door at Stewarts Shops and grab a dozen off the shelves.
