It's been a tale of 2 Dunloes for me at the Local. On a visit here quite some time ago, the bartender clearly favored his regulars over some rando who walked in wanting to try Dunloe beers. While a certain amount of preferential treatment for familiar faces is simply human nature, the contrast felt greater than what could be considered good service. Maybe the Local was only for locals. More recently, on another trip staying in downtown Davis, I decided to give the Local another whirl. Pulling up a stool at the bar on a Saturday afternoon, the bartender extended a friendly greeting. Huh. Service was personable, knowledgeable, & attentive this time around. After a little conversation, I found out he was filling for the regular bartender. Huh. Well OK, then. So I got to trying some beers. They don't do taster pours/ flights here. Everything's at least 1/2 pours. The bartender informed me that they do taster pours/ flights at their brewery location in town. Just not here. Honestly, that's a bummer for me. But I had a few 1/2 pours to taste what they got. For someone who's a bit beer snobby, has far too many 1000's of beer check-ins on Untappd, & once-upon-a-time homebrewed for many years, the beers were good. Not whale-hype mind blowing. But good. Super chill place. Came here for a potluck and one of my buddies convinced me to try beer for the first time. The dude at the counter was really knowledgable about their offerings and gave a bunch of us samples (the samples are generous). I ended up going for the mango hard seltzer. I plan to return for their art Tuesdays. Overall, a really cool place to hangout in! read more

We have been to the original brewery but hadn't stopped here before and we were down the street so wanted to stop by. We were greeted right away and asked about some of their beers. They have a good selection of beers. There is plenty of room inside and a few tables outside to relax. read more

This place is great. I was briefly in town visiting a relative. Downtown Davis is cute, I liked going to the bookstore and the art supply store. A college town for sure! Why not grab a brew? This place feels like somewhere that has a lot of "local regulars" but also welcoming to anyone or a stranger like me passing through town. I got the IPA beer - my favorite! - and it is great they have so many varieties on tap. Their canned to-go fridge is cool, the labels are all different, nice art work. It's always great to check out a local brewery and this place has a fun, easy feeling of community. The people there clearly care about their beer! read more

Came here with hubby and our daughter from out of town. They wanted to try a new brewery in town so this one came up. They have 2 locals one in olive drive and one dt. It was Sunday evening about 6:15ish. Dog friendly place with. Small outdoor seating in front of the brewery. We walked in and were greeted and helped out right away. We picked the Pilsner and the passion fruit hard seltzer. The seltzer was a touch sweet for me. They enjoyed the Pilsner that they got. There was an incident where another dog went after another dog at the bar. That was a little scary to witness. The bartender was super helpful with the menu choices. They have to go beers. Salad and chips for snacks, and chips. Some arcade games In the back. They have hats and tees and coming soon local artist. read more

I can't believe I didn't leave a review for this place yet! I frequently say this is the best beer spot in town. Super clean and great beer and service, and the vibe is very conducive to small gatherings. One time I even chanced upon an epic music session by the local community! Arcade games in the back for the underaged is a hit as well. Definitely come check it out if you're in town! read more

Best craft beer spot I've been to in the Davis area. It's a small space with plenty of seating, great for large groups. If you don't mind dark and slightly hoppy beers, I'd recommend the Irish Red and Illegal Smile (hazy dipa that's not too hoppy!) respectively. There's also a couple of video games in the back for entertainment. read more

The main Dunloe brewery opened several years ago on Olive Dr near the outskirts of town and now The Local is their tap room opened downtown. The beers have stepped it up in the last year with several very tasty hazies added to the quality lineup of west coast ipa's and some nice sours. Best beer in Davis without a doubt - maybe within 40 miles! read more

Great beer, Dunnies light and sunshine highway are the best. Dog friendly, staff are super awesome.

Emma just loves the variety of fresh beers and the free arcade games. Glad they opened a second location downtown although the Olive Dr location is also nice if you're looking for a quieter setting. read more

Today was October the Third. I wandered into town to buy some art pencils and have a mocha at Peet's. I stumbled upon Dunloe Brewing, the Local -- which is the downtown location. I chronicled the visit, which I only consumed one beer, for the sake of research and day drinking (just kidding). I took five okay pictures attached -- each picture has more info on it. I highly recommend this establishment. You can buy a sandwich at Zia Delicatessen and have a beer next door. They allow food from outside to come in to join your beer. Suggestion to business owner: Some kind of big screen TV to look at. read more

We were so excited to see that Dunloe opened a tasting room downtown. The beer is amazing!!! Love their hazy IPAs- Illegal Smile is my favorite. I ordered the Smokey Windows, it's delicious, light and simple for a warm summer day. I had to sit inside as the outdoor seating was filled. It's nice in here, cold, but loud with the "drunk voices." I guess you can expect that at a brewery. The person who served my beer was very friendly, prompt, and patient with all of my questions. read more

Decent time. Beer was good, service was efficient and to the point but as someone else in the craft beer industry, I'd hope for someone at the bar who was as excited for the beer I was drinking as the one serving it. I proceeded to make more efforts to make convo about the beee and the brewery which I was looking to learn about, but seemed brushed off by the beertender, sucks cause the guy seemed alright but guess he was having a bad day or something. Monday night is quiet yes, but I was sure I was easy to make easy points to make conversation about the product I was drinking and wanted more in-depth about the brewery and the area. I wasn't from the area but as a big craft beer person myself and when I asked about the hop profile of the beer, the beertender said idk solemnly and proceeded to read his book and ignore me. Yes, I get it when it's slow and you wanna tune out, but if a guest makes it easy and masked the convo greases for you for a mutual educational convo, prob should do it my man. Let's make craft beer approachable like it used to be. I'm literally in the industry, if you're closed off and unenthusiastic about the craft, maybe you should change industries my friend. Maybe nor cal beer is different from San Diego, but if that's the case, this area needs to improve their culture as the beer is good but you gotta be better about loving what you do y'all. read more
