This may have the best beer selection in town! While other sellers may have craft beer options (Nugget & Co-Op come to mind, along with Beer Shoppe), Aggie's selection typically seems to be very fresh (which is necessary for IPA's)...more consistently than some of their competitors. The folks that run Aggie are nice and friendly; they are willing to place special orders for no additional charge (typically), and their pricing is in line with its competitors. The main reason I am such a fan of Aggie is that they will get me my craft beer kegs. I am way more into craft beer than I would like to admit--I tend to know more about the beers I am buying than most retailers. So, when I want a keg, it is usually not something most places would keep on hand. Although this is also true at Aggie, if you make a request, they will work to fulfill it and get your request on order. Then, when you go to pick it up, they will even help you load it. There isn't too much to say here. Aggie Liquor has a great selection and is there when you need it. The customer service can be hit or miss and the prices for some products is higher than you'd expect - but like I said, it's nice to have access to a place like this even when it's not your first choice. Plus they carry some ciders I have trouble finding elsewhere - which means if for nothing else I'll be back for the ciders alone! read more

Seems cheap at first glance especially coming from somewhere like Ireland where alcohol is hella expensive! Seems to be inconsistent with ID - ing people, been there numerous times without being asked for ID but myself and my husband recently were in there bought a few beers and a liquor, my husband who was buying/paying didn't get asked for ID but just as I was lifting some of the items off the till (after we had purchased) the worker asked to see my ID. I just found the experience strange. Also saw a cockroach in the bottom of one of the fridges when we were lifting out the beer - yikes? Great selection of alcohol / snacks, I can't imagine going in and not finding what you need. read more

Just got scammed because I wasn't paying attention. I got charged $40 for an 18 pack of Coors and one specialty can. No way it costs that. They have to deal with a ton of drunk idiots all day, so i suppose it's ok if they are a little crazy. They have a bunch of kegs, a huge wine selection, tons of liquors (even that $2000 Remy Martin shit) and a buttload of beers. The prices are ok and they stay open pretty late. Wow. Terrible experience and, from speaking to my friend who lives in Davis, it's pretty common. It isn't simply the unbelievably OVERPRICED beer. It is the special treatment for some customers. I was grabbing some beer on the way to a party and saw another customer buying a semi-rare beer that I've been meaning to pick up. He said I couldn't buy it. Why? Because some beers are only for sale to special customers. I can understand if it was a special order or a club, but to have beer on your shelf that you won't sell to people? It's only a little shady, but it does have one of the best selections in town, if your looking for something other than Gordon's of course. In between the kegs of Natural Ice, there is a sizable selection of nice, high end liquors. Not only that, but if you ask a real question about your booze, you'll get a real answer. I've come to the conclusion that the owners of this establishment must have done something horribly wrong in a past life. After all, what punishment could be worse for a person who enjoys quality liquor than to be the proprietor of a liquor store selling cheap swill to drunks at 8 in the morning. And any place that names itself after the college mascot clearly aims at the college crowd, and that means shady. read more

Roommate and I wanted to get a beer so we walked to the closest open place. Surprisingly this place has a variety of beers. IPA, porters, ales, you name it and they have it. I did think some of their specialty beers were a little on the pricey end...9bucks for a 4pack...no thanks!! Also I tried to buy one 12oz beer and the guy just laughed at me! RUDE does he not know other places (aka the CO-OP) do this! Anywho, I didn't like his humor. On a different note I've filled kegs here. You do need to leave a deposit especially if you are renting the tap but I think that's normal! Recommended for those late beer runs and keggers! read more

Great selection. Always come here if there's a specialty item I'm looking for. Their prices are reasonable, but it has to be on sale if it wants to compete with the local grocery stores. I don't really mind that much though, rather put the money into something local. The man behind the counter has always been a little dry. It might be because I look so young and he doesn't want me to be there. Though one time I went and it was a different guy than normal and he was very friendly and talkative. I am a local & love Aggie liquor forever and yet they have always been there for me. I recommend two parts soy milk one part Korbel Brandy!, it is my love reporting in.( a candied vegan?, try it on ice ) I called them a dumb liquor store* once(you) and they put in a tellie. Now the have taken it down. (Where did the tellie go?) Also, I love the employees and consider them with a coy sense of humor. BEWARE SHADY BUSINESS & SHADY OWNER!! NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN! I ordered a keg here for my friend's birthday over the summer, and the tenant DROPPED it on the back bumper of my car while trying to load it in, creating this HUGE chip on my bumper. At first the owner said he would pay for the damages, but later he tried to lowball me offering only $50 or having a "friend" fix it "out of shop." SO SKETCHED. He also even dared to say that "oh it's not really their fault the keg was dropped on my car b/c they were trying to do me a favor loading it into the car for me." I never once even asked them to help me load it into my car. They just automatically did it before I had time to think about it, so I assumed it was just a part of their service. And I asked around, and people told me that they usually do it for them also. I can't believe they tried to shift the blame to me. HOW RUDE. Well anyhow $50 sounded obviously too low for cars, so I went to different auto bodys in Davis to get estimates. Both told me it was obvious the owner was trying to take advantage of me, and both gave me large estimates for the damages. I immediately went back to the store and told him what the auto body shops told me, and he refused to pay. So I asked for his insurance information. He immediately said with attitude, "I don't have to give you my policy #, this ISN'T a car accident." Well DUHHH. I was asking for his BUSINESS insurance, and he stuttered and was like okay let me go look for it. He spent 20 minutes in his office "trying" to find the number, and eventually he came out saying "I can't find it." How convenient. I knew he was just trying to send me in circles and making me come back a lot so I would get tired of it. The next morning I called back, and he told me he spoke to his agent, who said he wasn't "required to give me his policy# ". I told my own insurance company all of this information. After basically a month passed since the incident, my agent finally called me back saying that after talking to the liquor store's insurance agent and giving him official estimates, they FINALLY decided to give us their insurance policy # just to get us off their backs. They even had the nerve to tell my agent that they're only giving us this policy# because they don't think we'll win anything. We filed the claim, and the liquor store's insurance company said that because the owner admitted the accident did happen, they would pay for full damages. Thank god there are sensible people in this world. I just hated this whole experience because it was soo stressful dealing with such a RUDE/CHEAP/SHADY owner. I would NOT recommend anyone to support this business b/c they don't know how to treat customers with respect or fairness. read more

To get 2 bottles of cooks and a small orange juice it was like $18. Which is pricey, but it is s liquor store. And im gonna have to dissagree with the below statement that they have the best liquor selection (unless your using a fake) because all of the local Davis grocery stores are MUCH cheaper and have a much larger selection. read more

Hold on to your receipts if buying a keg. You will end up eating the money for your deposit. I paid around $70 for my deposit and when I went back to return it after several hundred dollars of refills, they told me they didn't have my deposit on file and could not legally give me cash for my shell. I shall not be returning. This place does have a great selection of top shelf whiskey, and lots of micros to choose from if you are looking for a pony keg, but this expreience left a very bad taste in my mouth and I don't feel I can endorse an establishment in Davis for whom integrity is not the primary order of business. Ahh, aggie liquor... serving the dorms since 1968... i wish that i was kidding, but that really is the case. They are notorious for being shady, but with that shadiness comes a certain leniency with certain standards/laws that can be quite beneficial to the underager with a car. That said, they have the quickest keg service in davis, so if you are going big, go to aggie (it is worth the extra $5/keg). They also have probably the largest liquor selection in the greater davis area. read more

I would avoid this place if possible. We found out that they have a hard to find beer - Davis Beer only had one in stock and I needed 3 for gifts. I called and asked if he could put two to the side for me and he said no while laughing and saying he needed to see the customers who wanted to purchase it. Umm okay. I stopped by today to see if he still had them since he keeps them in the back cooler. Some other guy who was moving beer around told me he should be up in a minute. When he finally did come up he just stared at me- I asked if he had any and he said I could have two. Perfect- could I purchase them please? He waited to answer while looking around the store and finally said yes. I was confused as to what was happening. Was he debating if I was worthy enough for the beer? Was it a secret that he didn't want people to know he had it hidden? I'm not sure but he finally got them for me and said they were $9 each! (They were $7.50 at Davis Beer.) He told me my total, still not looking at me, took my card and then threw the card, the pen and my receipt on the counter without saying anything or looking at me. Awesome customer service. I won't be back. Also, I don't know how he's still in business since the way he checks ID is by saying "your 21, right?" This place is great. Amazing selection, and almost always cheaper than anywhere else for most things I've bought. The staff is always friendly and nice, and the owner will sometimes give you random a discount if he knows you. They are always so polite and nice to me, and always offer to carry things out to my car, even insisting if I buy a case of beer, which I find very sweet. I am really disappointed that people have issues with the place, because I've never had anything but a good experience. They help me find things if I'm looking for something particular, and rerun my debit as credit if I ask. I highly recommend. read more
