Dunn -Edwards Paints as my go to place for my paint and supplies. Has been for 40 plus years. The staff is very knowledgeable friendly and positive. Lori Murphy manager at the DE Poway store is very knowledgeable friendly polite and always has the can do attitude to assist you with her expertise in the painting industry along with her assistant Matt. You know you can receive help from her at 6am and even if you are running late and call at 4:45pm Lori is ready to help out with her usual positive attitude. I'm a contractor. I had switched to this brand about a year ago, no regrets. Also a caulk doesn't have a bauble in the middle of a tube, so it doesn't leak like Dap products. People in the store are very nice too. 5 stars all the way. read more

Great paint. High quality- recommended to me by designers and crews. Do not expect a consumer oriented retail store. Go to Home Depot if you need personal service. They do their best here but they aren't there to hold your hand or baby you. Although their staff did offer to carry my paint out to my car for me! Haha! They cracked me up because they thought I had an arm injury- but I was just wearing arm sleeves for painting coverage, lol! The prices are commensurate with the quality so expect to pay more. They often have coupons on yelp or online so be smart and check before you go. I'm happy with how my home office turned out in Cool December. This place is average, at best. The goods: they're located in a strip mall, and parking was not a problem. I was there on a Tuesday afternoon, and it wasn't too crowded and they had adequate staffing. The shelves seemed to be plenty stocked, and their prices were competitive. The average: the customer service from the two ladies working was barely pleasant. I'm not sure if they don't like their jobs, or if they needed a smoke break or what. I'm not a contractor, so maybe I was hoping for a little bit of service and patience as they answered my questions. Anyway, hopefully you'll catch the employees in a better mood when you visit. read more

We came to look for paint for our beautiful new house, paint for our Formal living room, formal dining room, family room, Kitchen & Master bedroom. Our painter recommend us to go there for paint & we walked in the lady greeted us, we were there for 15 mins & 5 mins before closing, she turned off the lights on us & were almost done picking the last of colors & we couldn't see the colors chart. That was very RUDE of her so we are taking our business elsewhere. read more

I would definitely not reccommend Dunn-Edwards and especially the one in Poway. They gave me the wrong paint and their whole system is pretty screwed up. They asked the one who buy the paint to verify the paint with one dot on the lid. DO NOT use Dunn-Edwards. It would be better to go to Frazee or Sherwin Williams. If not HomeDepot would be an awesome place too. Trust me Dunn-Edwards is horrible and they will not accommodate for their mistake. I would avoid Dunn-Edwards at all cost. read more

I needed to buy paint for my front door. Unfortunately my ASSociation left the color palete with DE. I tried Home depot but they didn't have the color. DE was closed for the holidays for like a week. Went in to see if I could get a paint to match the flat off-white ceiling paint I have. Spoke to Stacey and she was great. She did not ask me to bring in a sample of the paint from the ceiling as the idiot at Home Depot did. I told HD I was not taking a chunk of my ceiling in for them to try and match. All the sample paints I tried all had a sheen to them and made it worse. Stacey gave me a small sample to see if it matched my ceiling. It was close and it did not have the sheen that HD flat paint. I went back and got another super small darker sample and it did the trick. Should have used these guys from day one but was not aware of them. Highly recommend. read more

I have been working with Andreza, this particular store's Professional Color Advisor. I cannot say enough about her level of expertise and service, she is a HUGE asset to this store. She as well as this store was referred to us by our painting contractor, what a find! We were really not sure of which way to go with the repainting of the interior of our home and she was so incredibly helpful. She took her time with us and guided us through all of the selections. If I can give 0 stars I would. Horrible Service , was there for 50 minutes to buy three buckets of paint. Only for one of the workers to go to our car and tell us that shes gonna start making it because the ones who were supposed to didnt. We were going to cancel but we needed the paint , it took her only 10 minutes to do it. She then came outside to take it to our car , mind you she was PREGNANT and her coworkers who are guys just watched her struggle, they were complete assholes and not gentlemen which is ugly of them. I just came in for samples and had to wait over 45 minutes for minimal assistance to find color brochure because they only had one in the store and it was in a drawer. Only two people were working and men coming in after me got immediate assistance while I waited. The woman sales person who I came to learn was with a person who had an appointment, who knew I was waiting because I asked for the brochure of paint colors, walked away from me to help someone else after she got finished with the person with the appointment, then came back and asked if I needed something. She helped for a minute then went on to help others before getting back to me...When my husband came in, we got assistance of course. By then we knew what we wanted and were told another 50 minutes for samples. The male manager/salesperson was nice and said he would get them to us right away. If our painter wasn't recommending DE and wanting to use this specific brand, I would have walked out. Terrible experience at this Poway DE location. read more

Just reading all the reviews - Did we go to a different place?! Just came in for a roller ... "Are you using oil paint?" Seriously, when's the last time you sold OIL paint, especially in CA! Being a smart *ss and trying to intimidate your customers is definitely a way to lose them. This was our 2nd time in this store - same guy, same attitude. So, no chance at 3 strikes . . . Off to Home Depot next time. May be less personal, but they're not jerks. read more
