We're touching up a new outdoor gazebo area and I asked Lindsey come over the records from a year and a half ago to see if she could findwhat color we used. I used a shade of white but I wasn't sure about the name. She spent a lot of time hunting for me and was so pleasant. I am a construction professional that works with many suppliers on a daily basis. i was extremely disgusted with how my issue was not resolved. i had a paint matched to a 18 x 18 inch sample and not only was the sheen wrong but the color was off when we applied it. when i asked them to fix the problem i was pushed off onto my paint rep ... this was 1 gallon of paint & could have easily been resolved by the manager. Walked in needing about 1 quart of a special paint color our HOA requires. The staff here were very friendly and were able to match the paint chip I brought in and verify the Dunn Edwards paint color. I waited about 10-15 minutes and the paint was ready. Total cost $18. I called the store with only a bunch of numbers, colors and type of paint. Not having any experience in paint, the girl I spoke to on the phone was super friendly and helpful. I guess most people have accounts and not having one, she created a courtesy one for me. I called an hour before I showed up and my paint was ready. I paid and they helped load it all into my car. Where would I be without color advisor Maranda?! I think I bugged Maranda on about twenty different occasions as I was whittling down the paint colors for my house. Many conversations & countless samples later, I couldn't be more happy with the colors I've chosen. Maranda is truly the color guru, willing to take the time to listen to and create your vision. I actually came to my paint project with little vision, and Maranda gently guided me in the right direction. What started off as a small "touch-up" project, ended up being a huge painting project that I decided to tackle myself. Many gallons of paint later, I've pretty much painted every bedroom and hallway in our house with the exception of my daughter's room (we painted that a year ago right before she was born) and the staircase where the ceilings are super high. Recently, I have been at different paint stores trying to find the "right" color paint for two areas in my home. You would think this would be easy, but it isn't. The one store that gave me excellent customer service, helped with color choices because they were so educated in this area, knew which tools to use to make the job easier was Dunn-Edward Paint Store on Hacienda Drive in Vista. More specifically, Julissa and Gracie were the outstanding people who helped me. Both women are amazing in their knowledge of types of paint, paint colors, what goes together and what doesn't, what tools to use, plus, they are kind, fun, and all around exemplary in their roles. To be honest, I came here just to buy two cans of paint. I had an old Dunn-Edwards paint can that was used as the base paint in my new house and wanted more. Service was friendly. I also found a Groupon ($20 for $40) which cut my $80 paint bill in half. They have an assortment of painting supplies also, though I felt prices were a little high. They did have a great deal on painter's tape (4 for $10)...which is better than I've seen in the big-box stores. read more

The employees at this location were extremely helpful, and fostered a comfortable, pressure-less sales environment. Without their help, I would have purchased the wrong product, and the paint I purchased seems to be a quality product. I would absolutely give more of my business to this company/location in the future! Additional details about my buying experience are below if anyone cares to read. Detailed Version: I recently was fined by my HOA due to the previous owner painting the garage door the wrong color, so I was given a paint color by the HOA and sent to Dunn Edwards as they carried that particular shade. I was well taken care of over the course of two visits. The first visit consisted of me being ready to just walk in buy the paint. When I requested an oil based paint, as directed by the HOA, the employee that I spoke with urged me to check the existing paint to see whether it was actually oil or water based paint that I need by using some rubbing alcohol. Instead of pushing for the sale, I was encouraged to ensure that the purchase that I made was the correct one. Sure enough, I needed water based paint, and may have been in far worse shape had I been blindly given what I initially asked for. Upon return, a separate employee was again incredibly helpful as I recounted my first visit and the new information I had gathered since my first visit. I was sold the correct paint, and have already successfully completed my painting project with what seems to be a quality product. There isn't enough of this type of service in the world today. Instead of walking into a sales-greedy environment, I was provided information that I needed and had no idea that I needed. Needless to say, I considered this buying experience extremely positive, and I would love to give this Dunn Edwards Paints location additional business in the future if I'm ever in the market for paint again! read more

I understand some changes have to occur and that our mood changes sometimes as the day goes by, but I do not understand why the new staff here seems to always be ticked off at the customers, they act as if we ruined their day by needing their service. If you do not want to be at least polite to people then do not work for any place that has customer interaction. This entire staff seems to just suck happiness away from its customers. read more

Went there for paint and primer. I explained that the primer had to be top quality to cover previously stained cabinet wood. They recommended a particular primer for that purpose. The primer did not work. The prepped stained wood bled right through. So I had to pay my painter for an extra day of prepping the cabinets again and repriming. I also wasted a $50 can of primer. I explained the situation to the store and received no satisfaction other then returning the unopened gallon. I went to Sherwin Williams the next day and got the correct primer. I would not recommend Dunn Edwards for any kind of expertise. And I will not be returning to this establishment in the future. read more

The Vista Dunn- Edwards is one of the best paint supply stores around. I am a painting contractor and have used every paint store in the north county. This store has it down how to help out both home owners and contractors alike. They are knowledgeable about all of the different products and great at problem solving if you are having a tough job you are working on. Kudos to the Manager, Todd D! I don't think I'll be able to purchase paint from anywhere else again. Todd educated me on different types of paint finishes, quality levels and even offered suggestions for paint for the different spaces we planned to paint in our new home. Using some photos I provided, the store even sent me "pictures" of what our home would look like with the paints we had selected. After a purchase of some samples and patch tests, I was able to buy enough paint for the entire interior of my home at a very reasonable price. (And, it was delivered!) Todd referred me to a fantastic paint contractor, who I would use again in a heartbeat. Between the great painter he referred, the quality of Dunn Edwards products - and awesome customer service - the process of having our entire home repainted was wonderful. read more

I was have trouble matching paint for the interior of my home. I went to Home Depot and they did not even come close. My neighbor suggested Frazee but when I went to the store, it was gone. On my way was a Dunn-Edwards so I stopped in and so glad I did. Miranda, who is amazing, helped me match the paint from a piece of the wall. It was so perfectly matched I couldn't tell where I had painted the sample. Customer service is beyond expectations. I will never purchase paint from one the big hardware stores again. And, Bonus, the paint was less expensive than the big stores. read more

Not helpful at all at the Vista store. 7/20/2013 - I bought 2 gallons of semi gloss (they gave the color a name) and on a later date 8/1/2013 I tried to purchase the same color but in a flat. I told them that I was not color matching so "close" would be good enough. They said OK. I said that I would be back in a few days to pick up. When I arrived 2 days later, they said that they deleted the order because they were afraid that the colors wouldn't match, and that I had promised to bring in a sample. They already had the color on file (semi-gloss) and I just wanted it in flat (matching not an issue). Very poor customer service. read more

Since I'm on a roll writing reviews, I just had to review these guys. We went in here the first time only because my painting contractor had a tie-up with Dunn Edwards. That's were we met Maranda. What started as a paint selection discussion turned into a free interior design session. We have ended up choosing most of the interior walls of our home working with her. We are in the process of moving into a new home now and have again been in there multiple times sampling and then coming back for more. I have been in there so many times now that I have worked with everyone in the store at some point and each one of them ( Todd, Sandra, can't remember the others names) has been very friendly, helpful and professional. I usually end up calling my order in and its always ready when I reach. I think there was one time when they misunderstood one order - no problem, they whipped out the correct order with no extra charge in like 5-10 minutes. I think I get a good discount because of my contractor which also helps of course..:) All in all, these guys are AWESOME ! read more

Not helpful. Refused to shake up old paint, and said color we bought just a few years ago was no longer being made. Overall, a very bad attitude and a very bad customer service experience.
