They said one system was four years old and the other was five years old and we should replace them. We never had this type of system so we didn't know we were supposed to put salt in it. They also recommended we use crystal salt because of the humidity. Instead of replacing the systems, we requested they be cleaned and reset. We've had no issues until recently when the top of the garage unit had a small leak. Glad we chose not to replace them, since they're doing well. The technician was able to replace the part and screws for under $300 and it's working great.

I just recently had Charlie's Plumbing of Leesburg out to repair a bathroom leak. The leak was…read morerepaired after 2 days resulting in a hole in the foundation that has not been repaired. I had also requested a new spigot on the outside of the house. Unbeknownst to me, the plumber pulled out siding from the house, broke the spigot knob, burned/melted the siding, and never replaced the spigot. The siding in that area is going to have to be replaced. I have put in numerous calls to the Owner asking him to call me and schedule a time that he could come out and talk about how to deal with the wreckage that is left. I have not received any call back. Since I've been dealing with this for two weeks with no follow up from the Owner, I have resorted to using this forum to warn others of the poor work done by this company. So disappointing.

The element burned out in my hot water tank and I thought I needed a new tank. I called Dunstan & Son and they sent a nice young man named Wade out within an hour to get measurements & quote me a price. After telling him what happened he said i might just need a new thermostat & element. Even though the tank was older it was still in good shape and could last many more years. Price difference between repairing and replacing was $150 vs $1500. I said please repair! He had trouble with an unyielding bolt, calling in 2 other techs to get the correct tool to dislodge it. In the meantime, I told him I was concerned about the concrete around the tank always damp and could it be the tank leaking? He said no but possibly a pipe was leaking under the house. He put his coveralls on and went under the house to find that the pressure regulator valve on the hot water tank was faulty and had been leaking for some time. He replaced the thermostat, element & pressure regulator valve. Not only did he same me a ton of money, but he found the leak that had been worrying me for the 4 months since I've moved into this house. I can't praise this kind & courteous young man enough! read more

This is my second time using this company. Both times, we were blessed to have Donald. He was very professional, courteous, and kind hearted. We were very stressed out the second time due to flooding in my daughter's room and water damage in the masters bathroom. John, the owner of the company, was slammed but they made out the time to respond very quickly. When Donald arrived, he got down to business. He was extremely thorough. He went above and beyond to ensure that all the issues in the house were discovered and resolved. Afterwards he sent me pictures of everything that he found and then gave us ideas on how to go about fixing the damage. It was amazing! Most companies behave like you've bothered them by having them come over to your house and they can't wait to get out. Not Donald. He was truly awesome. He and the company make you feel like you are the only customer that they have. I hope I never need a plumber in the future, but if I do, there is no one else that I will be calling for sure. After the recent cold snap (January 2026) we no longer had hot water. Husband tried to resolve by resetting the hot water heater but the reset button got stuck. After a recommendation from two other places, we called Dunstan & Son. They couldn't fix it by troubleshooting over the phone, and were immediately out the next day. About an hour later we had hot water. You don't know you much you miss it until it's gone! We considered ourselves very lucky that they were able to come right out, especially when countless others were having cold-related plumbing problems! We also had a leak in an outside water line. A week later they came back and fixed that, too. I can't say eough good things about this company, Dunstan & Son. Their techs are very knowledgeable and also friendly. They identfied the problems, and how best to fix them. I felt that the cost was more than fair and reasonable. Would I recommend them? Absolutely, without a doubt. A replumbing can be very scarry and crazy. They were great from the start. They even worked us in a busy schedule. The owner John came out the first day to review the process and assured me things will be done properly. His lead on the plumbing team doing my job was Garrett. He was fantastic! So amazing, you could not have asked for a more knowledgeable, skilled, professional, and polite person to do the job. He paid such attention to detail. All of the new plumbing was hidden and done very discretely, and it looks and works beautifully. The rest of the team was just as professional. They would clean up the mess as they went and didn't leave it till the end of the day. At the end of the day, they were very considerate and would put things back like the stove so it could be used. Kudos to Dunstan Plumbing and Thomas. We had an Emergency that involved a major water leak Saturday May 25th, 2019 at 930pm. I called Dunstan and the Service handled the call quickly and Thomas called me back within 2min. I explained the situation to him but he was involved in another emergency at that time. Instead of brushing me off or making excuses he made suggestions to get the situation under control. Following his direction the situation was brought under control until he could get here to fix the problem. He was considerate enough to call back later to make sure we were alright and arrived bright and early the next morning and restored our water. He was pleasant and professional during all telephone conversations and when he arrived at our home. I thought I would take a chance and hired John to re-plumb my entire home..... What a BEAUTIFUL job they did for my wife and I.... We also had them replace the hot water tank, sinks and faucets in the kitchen and both bathrooms as well as toilets... Everything was top shelf, nothing half way.... On thanksgiving the plumbing backed up in my house full of guests - ugh! I couldn't fix it myself so we had Thanksgiving at a restaurant. At the end of the meal, I knew I needed to get help but am new to the area. I googled "best Plumber near me" and up came my list. I chose Dunstan as it got very good review. I called before I left the restaurant. They called me back (on Thanksgiving) and because it was late I made an appointment for the next day. Today between 8:30 and 9:15am. At precisely 8:45 Doug arrived. I was a bit embarrassed as you can imagine because of all the work I knew he had ahead of him. He was knowledgeable, courteous and fixed my problem in short order. Don't go through the Handyman thing. Just call a professional contractor. That's what I finally did. I was tired of being rescheduled or pushed back because they had bigger jobs to go to first. So I called Dunstan and Sons Plumbing Co. and they came out in three days. The work that I needed is a little more involved then I realized so we will be rescheduling that but fixing all of the things that I paid the other worker was done quickly and done right. I had Donald here. He was great. He also showed me how to adjust my water heater temperature. Put the hoses to and from my washer in the right way. And fixed the mess of job that was piped under my sink for my new dishwasher and garbage disposal. So don't do what I did and pay twice. Just hire a reputable contractor. read more

They were very polite and professional on the phone and set up a service call right away. The gentleman Donald Almond came out and went straight to work. Our toilet was leaking, so I called Dunstan. As usual they were extremely polite and prompt in connecting me with someone to help me. The scheduling was simple and accurate. I was very impressed by Dunstan & Son Plumbing and the plumber they sent to address our issue. Doug introduced himself the minute he got out of his truck. He was not only on time for our appointment, he was early! Such a pleasant surprise in this day and age. He addressed our issue very professionally, keeping us informed every step of the way.
