Overpriced drinks horrible customer service and just honestly a place I never wish to return .

We called and asked what time they closed. We were told 12:00 a.m and arrived at 11:20pm. We were met aggressively at the door by a man with a horrible attitude looking at his watch saying he was closing it down in 10 minutes so it was no need to come in. We said had we known that, we wouldn'tve come, but was told you closed at midnight. He barked at us saying that didn't have anything to do with him. We left and went to Bloom, a new restaurant and lounge and it won't be long before all the customers from Duo end up there. They were pleasant from the security to the waitress to the owner. The had great service and even took pics of us to remember the night. Great thing you refused to serve us at 11:20 we would never gone there. read more

DUO is the one!!! Meet up with friends for happy hour 5-7. Got drinks (2), potato skins and wings for $20 + plus tip! Music is on point. I'm about to be a regular. Went on a Tuesday, crowd was cool. No rah rah stuff! Bar area got full but never seemed packed or too overwhelming to manuever through. Out waitress was cool and served us at a high top. Was responsive with utensils, napkins, refills. Went here last night! It was $10 per person to get in. I was surprised because I thought we were going to a restaurant so it didn't make sense to me! I arrived at 9:30pm. I actually joined a group but apparently they were done eating and just ordering more drinks. 20mins passed before my partner walked to the kitchen. We literally kept flagging staff down to order. When the waitress did come she explained that she thought we been here with the group. We had spoke to two other people looking for our waitress.. I said to her that no one checked on the table since i arrived! I placed my appetizer, drink & both my partner & I entrée with her. Almost 30 minutes later, everything came out in togo boxes! I was totally confused because I did not ask for anything to be to go... The food was good, but I had to docker up the salmon burger & his Angus burger because they did not include the toppings on the burger as the menu said. The chicken bites appetizer was really small and is definitely not meant to be shared. The DJ was great. It was DJ base, but the staff and the service was really slow. then there is no Dancefloor so for them to be treating the place like a club is weird. I had a really disappointing meal. I ordered two pieces of catfish, loaded mashed potatoes, and broccoli, and everything was over-seasoned. The fish was so salty that I couldn't eat it, and the garlic flavor overwhelmed everything. How can you mess up mashed potatoes and broccoli? This place needs to seriously rethink who's cooking or just close back down. read more

My niece setup a birthday celebration for me at Duo. It was very nice. I always have a great time here. A couple of my girlfriends have had birthday celebrations at Duo also. Good times. One of my sister girlfriends wanted to have a gathering at Duo for her birthday in December, I thought it was slim to no chance with a weeks notice. Several of us called with no answer, so I just kept calling. They answered. . Brandy took a message and Vonda called me back ...Whaaaaat? The same day? Yes she did. Not only did she let me know what was available but also she let me verify the time and date and call her back For REAL, WHERE THEY DO THAT AT? DUO that's where. They were so nice, I had to leave this review. I could hear the club in the background and it was Live. I wanted to go down on this Wednesday evening, for their rum punch drink, can't think of the name of it and some Wings and fries, but I'm settled in already. Duo will always be the spot for me. A nice spot to go to for happy hour. The Lady and I went and met some friends my first night back in Detroit. The happy hour menu is a beast. $5.00 drinks, beers and food. And not just the typical bar H. H. food. We're talking LOADED fries, every flavor of chicken wing, seasoned shrimp and other items . The staff was wonderful and the decor very cool. Duos has a very good atmosphere and a good vibe. It saddens me to share my experiences. Unfortunately, when you order top shelf liquor and they charge you premium prices and gratuity, you are served well liquor that makes you physically sick. The grilled salmon, broccoli and mashed potatoes are sooooo good!!!! And happy for 5pm to 7pm Tuesday-Friday things are half off!!!

I was willing to look beyond the fact that my food was served in a to-go/carry-out box and my water was served in a clear plastic cup with a lid (like a child's sippy cup), until I was tapped on my shoulder and pulled to a back room by the "manager" and a bouncer! I was sitting with a group of friends, in the back reserved section with 12+ friends when all of a sudden I was pulled to a back room and told that one of their "guests" didn't feel comfortable with me being in the same building. The "guest" happened to be a "regular" at DUO! (Who I have known for 57 years) -I was told to keep my distance, even though I never laid eyes on her. She was able to convince the "manager" and bouncer that she felt uncomfortable even though she walked to the back of the restaurant where I was seated 2X's. She left the bar area (where I was told she was seated) and walked to the rear of the building where I was seated. I had not been to this establishment in three years, and don't plan to ever go back. To be called out by "management" because someone fabricated a narrative is beyond my comprehension. DUO is the epitome of a poorly run black business! Don't waste your time or money. The parking situation is pathetic and to be searched and scan by a metal detector is not a place anyone with any substance would or should be visiting. My sister, nephew and I wanted to go some place for appetizers & drinks in memory of my mom's birthday. I saw that this place offers those things, so I suggested it. We got there shortly after 5:00 on a Friday evening. We were led all the way to the back, which was odd, as they seated most people in the front of the restaurant. There was rather loud music playing. The staff was dressed extremely casually. Sorry, but I don't find leggings and t-shirts very professional attire. We looked at the Happy Hour menu, and it looked ok. My nephew asked what kind of scotch they had, and the server said, in a very bored and disinterested tone, "I don't know". Seriously? If you work some place, you should be familiar with what they offer, and if you don't know, you should go and find out. I ordered a chardonnay, my sister asked for Blue Moon beer, and my nephew ordered Dewar's scotch. My wine was fine. But, the server brought my sister the bottle of beer. Traditionally, it is supposed to be served in a glass, with lemon. And the server brought my nephew O'DOUL'S -- an alcohol-free beer, which is most decidedly NOT scotch. And no glass for him, either. Oh myyyyyyyyyyy where do I start?! I guess we'll dive straight in to the weird age restriction. You have to be 27 after 10pm. I had never seen an age restriction like that and thought it was weird font on sign so I asked the waitress and she said it was indeed 27 to get rid of the more "rowdy crowd". The food was horrible. The Mac and cheese with shrimp was inedible. Pools of grease everywhere, grainy sauce, over salted and nearly water consistency. Not to mention the shrimp was MIA. Sent that back. The zip pasta had absolutely zero flavor and tasted like a plate of plain noodles with veggies. Sent that back. The ribs weren't cleaned properly and had a fishy aroma to them and couldn't be penetrated by a STEAK KNIFE. Sent those back. The music was so disgusting, vulgar, explicit and loud it was truly offensive. They wanted to apologize for the horrible experience by offering us a dessert, out of the four options given they only had 2. Took 20+ mins to "cut the cake" that was clearly frozen. Hi. I am 22 years old and the bouncer at Duo was extremely rude and threatening & told me that I could only enter the bar if I was 27 years old. he said he would not allow anyone under 27 in because they don't allow "youngins". I was extremely confused because you should be allowed anywhere once you are 21 and if not it should say online. i do not recommend Duo especially with that bouncer read more

I wanted to place a to go order at the beginning of the pandemic and they wanted my DNA! (COVID test) Hell no, just for a meal? I waited a while to see if things got better... did it? HELL NO., THIS is time around they automatically charged me 20% for a phone/Togo order???? Then lied and said that it was on the menu, and that it's all the owners fault. Duo was very good. I loved the live entertainment and the drinks. The fish was also mesmerizing.

The bouncers made inappropriate comments about my girlfriends behind as we approached and then told me I couldn't get come in for wearing gym shorts (they were normal shorts) as people wearing bright pink mesh shorts were seated. Will never give them my business, very gross. read more

This place is great! Went there for Karaoke on a Wednesday and it was the most fun; I even went up to sing. The drinks are priced just right and the food is delicious! I came back the next day for Old School Thursday and the vibe was different but the atmosphere was still very grown and sexy. This time it was all about dancing and having a great time. I've tried their honey lavender salmon with shrimp, chicken tempura bites, and wings - I was not disappointed. My wife even had a few events here including her birthday party. We reserved one of four sections (ours was a private area) to party. The service was great; our waitress was very personable and even got in on a joke with my friends. I love this place! read more

We've been patronizing Duo's for years and have always dealt with the fact that it's popular and crowded most of the time. However, we arrived on Friday night at 7:30 pm for dinner and they told us to wait in bar. Finally we were seated. We waited for almost 20 min for waitress. Once they came over and took the order, we ordered drinks the food arrived about 30 min later in to go boxes. We were finishing our food and ordered an after dinner drink. Within a minute of ordering our drink, a man came in and gave the hostess money for a section/table. I think anything about it. Next thing we knew, a lady came to our table and told us that we had to leave because those tables were sold. We told her that we are not done and still hadn't received our final drinks. She basically humped her shoulders. We never received our drinks and I was so disgusted that I didn't check to see if they took the drinks off my bill. The group that they sold the section/tables to had signs and name tags. One of the signs that placed on the table that we were sitting at even had a sign that read "$10 Cover Charge." How does that work? Selling tables!!!My husband and I have traveled all over and visited many places and I've never been so humiliated in my life. We need to do better as a people. The venue is lively but the service we received last night was WACK! My Birthday Celebration was ruined. The waitress brought out two orders incorrectly, she wasn't listening, and when we flagged her down to let her know, she TOOK my food and disposed it. Wr had to flag her down again to ask about my food, she gleefully informed us that the kitchen was closed! I had to eat off others in my party plates or I just would have been completely starved. Bad as it was bringing the Wrong food, she took what I had without any consideration of making it right. What really blew my mind was that she gets a tip, automatically, whether the food or service was good or bad, so there's no incentive to provide good service. Asking for the manager was useless, all she kept saying was, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. This place won't be around next year with piss poor waitresses ruining the place. It wasn't very busy for the early happy hour but the ambiance was great. They've created great artistic pieces and light fixtures using rebar which gives the join a very urban loft feel. Great lounge just outside the bar area with huge fur pillows and low tables. We kicked back with martinis and had an amazing eggplant appetizer I highly recommend. After a bit we sat in the dining room for dinner and more martinis. The food was fresh, innovative and delicious. Although we were there early I did see that the kitchen is open until 1am so if you get the late night hunger pains head over. I'm definitely hitting this place next time I'm in town! read more

Management is horrible... my cousin had a reserved party here and she had more people than expected a manager came over and told her we had to move which is completely understandable in the midst of everything a waitress came and took our order it took about 10-15 minutes to get everyone situated but everyone was moved into the right area. I was wondering after about 45 minutes to an hour passed why my food hadn't been brought out or even my drink when the waitress finally came and said our order had to be thrown out because we weren't in the right area. I asked to speak with the manager because this was unacceptable why did it take an hour for us to be told this I had paid for valet to just sit there. Horrible experience and when I asked to speak to the manager I waited around for about 10 minutes and he never came out. read more

5 stars across the board! The live entertainment was nice. We had great service. Dionne was very friendly and the bus boys were very attentive. Our glasses were never empty and we didn't have a dirty plate on our table for less than a minute. The food was exceptional. We got the tempura chicken- half with spicy mayo and half with buffalo sauce. It was SO juicy and both sauces taste great. Their ranch was great too. We got a side chopped salad that was good. My fiancé got the salmon with vegetables. The entree tasted perfect. I got the chicken and veggie pasta with alfredo zip sauce. So good and piping hot. Great place to meet up for drinks and friendly fun. They usually have a live band perform at night. They tend to have they speakers up way too loud which makes it hard to have a decent conversation unless you're sitting in the rear of the place. The food is pretty good especially the appetizers. The yum yum shrimp are my favorite I think they copied this from bonefish grills bang bang shrimp. I really want to give them a 5 but the fact that they still have holes in the men's bathroom walls from over 3 years ago lets me know they don't pay attention to detail and think that this is not a big enough concern to repair. Anyhow it's still a really fun place with a lot of cool sitting areas to hangout and enjoy friends. Definitely worth a visit or two or three. read more
