Came here with 5 other ladies to celebrate Mother's Day and wished we'd made a better choice. 2 of 6 people were served almost 20 minutes before the rest of us (because they had chicken wings). The rest of us sat and waited while we watched our food linger under the heat lamp. The waitress was sitting then standing in front of our food eating. Once we complained she'd stated that all the plates were waiting for Mac n cheese. It was just odd how there were 5 people standing near our food and breathing over it, but no one was bringing it to our table. Needless to say when it arrived it was mostly cold. The manager did what she could to discount a couple of the meals, but overall it was a disappointing dinner. We immediately asked for boxes so we could get the heck outta there. I had heard about this place before and figured I would stop by with my friend for something casual to eat. This was a good choice. The chicken quesadillas are OK for the most part. They come with sour cream and you can ask for salsa. However, the highlight is the soul food egg roll, honey! You get two egg rolls, stuffed with turkey, collard greens, mac & cheese, and candied yams. This is the combination that you never knew that you needed it. Even their drinks are great. I got to enjoy a watermelon-flavored lemon drop and it was amazing. I'll definitely be back and we just happen to stop by on Friday, which was comedy night. Lots of fun very enjoyable! read more

I came here on a karaoke night which was the best part of the evening. I sat at the bar and had ordered the lollipop lamb chops which came with garlic rice. The lamb chops were cooked to my specifications, flavored well and were actually pretty large. I failed to get a pic though because I was so hungry and it took about 30 minutes to get my food so I wolfed it down once it arrived lol. The rice was good and garlicky as well the only thing that was off putting was that everything came on the tiniest plate and was all crowded together. My girl ordered catfish nuggets and Mac and cheese. We ordered at the same time but her food came about 20 minutes after mine. Her catfish nuggets were that only in name...the pieces were huge and one of them was even a whole fillet. The Mac and cheese was dry and looked like it was made with store pre-shredded cheese. My girl sent it back and ordered fries. I ordered a specialty drink, The Good Evening, off their cocktail menu based off the description alone which sounded delicious. It was reposado tequila, peach-pineapple syrup, tripe sec, pineapple juice and lime and was supposed to come with a dehydrated lime and pineapple leaf. It came with none of the garnishes, just a regular degular lime wedge. The glass was cute, a tiki glass. But the drink itself was super disappointing. The tequila tasted super harsh, I think it may have been 1800 tequila. This was the second most expensive drink on the menu at $22.00 so it was super disappointing that it didn't taste good and seemed to be made with well/cheap tequila and none of the promised flair for a premium cocktail. I would come back for drinks and karaoke, trying a different cocktail, but will skip the food . I will say that the manager/owner did come around and check on us and when I expressed my displeasure about my drink gave us a round of shots. For my second round I ordered a strawberry margarita and that was much better! read more

Came here on Super Bowl Sunday to watch the game, grab some food, drinks and enjoy the atomsphere. If this place keeps up with what they are doing, they will be very successful. Walking up to the door we was greeted by two gentlemen(I believe they was security) they welcomed and opened the door for us. Once inside we was greeted by a very nice lady who asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or a table and we went with a table because our other friends were already there at the bar and all of the othsr seats were either taken or reserved. And if I had to comain about anything that would be it because why would you have seats at the bar reserved but you have several beautiful areas with really nice couches that seemed more appropiate for reservations. I would leave my bar seats open as first come, first serve. Once seated we were greeted by Nia who was very nice and on point throughout our whole visit. We tried the wings, catfish, corned beef egg rolls and fries which all were good. All of our drinks were good as well. I loved the fact that they had the music at a nice level, not too loud but good enough that you could enjoy it and still have conversations. It wasn't that crowded which I also liked but I'm sure on other days it probably will be. They also have an area for rooftop seatinf once the weather gets better which I will for sure be checking out. read more

Stay aware from this place! 7 dollars for a beer? My carry out order had barely enough food to feed an infant, and they don't have a happy hour! Then to top it off they added a 20% gratuity! This spot never misses! The drinks are reasonable and tasty. The music is always a vibe. The establishment is clean and the staff is always friendly. This was my first time here for brunch and I was not disappointed. The fish and grits were filling and flavorful. The drinks were small and pricy but they were not watered down! My GF's and I selected Minnie's to have brunch yesterday which I confirmed with my cousin, Lisa, if it were her friend's restaurant! I have no complaints about MD's, Food, YUMMY! #grits are slamming Service, GREAT! #tate Mimosa flight, ummm ...#mango Mixologist mixed well because you can mess up Mimosa. Lol Caters to a younger crowd but a live band for a few hours and then a DJ would be nice. Tate was an awesome server. He worked the room alone. A flyer in WSU dorms/apartments could fix staffing. Ensure staff have what they need to sell the experience i.e. glasses, utensils, food items, etc., which is essential. We were told there were no pancakes or banana foster available. The chef should confirm food inventory to manage service. I hope when I return, I have the opportunity to taste. Other than that, I'd say, it's worth it to go! P.S. Adding fresh summer flowers to the tables, would be a nice touch. Flex the sexy to this already nice spot. We'll be back! read more

One word - disappointment. Saw the photos, seemed it was black owned and decided to take my business there. For starters I ordered at 7:20. Got there at 7:30 and paid for it. As you can see from the receipt it says 7:32 for a chicken bite tossed salad. I didn't get it until 8:15. Not only that but look how small it is and the chicken? I hardly got ANY chicken. And this salad cost me 14 dollars. I went to Go Sy Thai after to get real food and that only cost me 10 bucks. Amazing. The ambiance seems basic. Older crowd was downstairs and a younger crowd upstairs renting out the areas for their parties. I had some peanuts they had at the bar and they were either hard and stale or those "great value" peanuts. Can never really tell anymore. The chicken was really basic tasting and maybe sweet magnolia got me spoiled, but this is NOT chicken bites. ‍ 2 stars for the wait, the cost vs quality and quantity and the fact that they only had one or two cooks in the kitchen with all this activity going on. Went here on two separate occasions. The first time I was there the food was subpar and over priced. The food didn't come out all at once, they gave us pieces of our meal as it was plated. For our food to come as it was plated, it was still cold. Also would like to note we were served on disposable plates with plastic cutlery. The service was also subpar. Waitress was very nonchalant and when asked questions about the menu her response was "I don't know, I don't even work here for real." I had been hearing a lot about the place from Facebook friends so myself and my business partner decided to check it out. We are big foodies!! We went last Tuesday around 5pm. We were the only customers in there. There were about 4 girls waitressing. All of them had enhanced booties except for 1 girl. All their dialogue consisted of was sleeping with some guy...and the food was DISGUSTING! We got salmon sliders. YUCK!!! Soggy with no flavor and the fishiest salmon ever! I don't think it was salmon. Shrimp Alfredo fries(they were ok), jerk wing dings (not chicken), crab cakes (tasted like imitation mixed in somewhere), plain fries (supposed to be garlic aioli). Bathroom was not clean and it doesn't appear to be cleaned on the regular. I was sooo disappointed, especially because I loved a good black owned establishment. This was by far the WORST and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! We didn't even eat it, gave the imitation crab cakes to the seagulls on the riverfront. Went today for brunch and it was great. There was a wait but that's expected on a Sunday for brunch. The vibe was great, the music was great, and the food was great. I'm so happy my friends and I decided to come here. And the brunch is so worth it and so inexpensive. I don't think any entree was over $15. And all of my friends and I loved our food. The mimosas are good too. $10 for the first one and the others after are $5. They have a pitcher to share that you can purchase for $50 as well. I'm definitely coming back here. A group of us met up for Unwind Wednesday's. We sat at the bar downstairs. It was not busy at all. We took advantage of the happy hour menu. I ordered the catfish bites, okra, and watermelon margarita which were good. Others in our party ordered the chicken wings and cheese sticks. They could have been cooked longer. They didnt have that golden brown look. My sister's chicken was still bleeding. So if you order wings or cheese sticks make sure you ask if they're fried hard. Then we went upstairs. I wasn't aware we had to pay. Some people in our party paid others didn't. I didn't have cash so i was stopped at the door to cash up to pay admission. We had a good time vibing at the open mic. There were (3) of us at the table and we all got our food at separate times, which leads me to believe they are new and still finding their way.
