Very misleading. The wine tasted ok, although I broke out in purple rashes all over my body. A lot of people like their wine, but I don't think they realize it's origin. Their vineyard is by a landfill. GROSS! No wonder a broke out. Their staff is pleasant however and the shop is nice. But, their vineyard sucks landfill seepage. Wonderful experience. We went on a rainy Saturday and expected there to be waits. We were told it could be up to 90 minutes but that we could use our wine voucher that came with our $10 tasting to enjoy a glass of wine before the tasting. My husband and I loved the live entertainment and patio area. The wait was on 45 minutes and our tasting guide was amazing at explaining all of the various wines. Weirdest wine tasting experience of my life. We got a basic wine tasting, were handed a beeper. When the beeper went off we were to come back to the front desk to meet our bartender. The took all our IDs, even the 78 y/o people with us. We are a group of 6, ages, 78,78,55,52,28&28. They gave us tickets and made us wait... for what we did not know. I had to ask what was going on, cuz I have been to dozens of wineries and have never experienced such a thing. She said that the bartender will get us and take us to a bar and explain each wine to us and answer questions......., I am thinking, yes , like EVERY OTHER WINERY. Weird! Bar tender, Magic Mine that was great, knows his wine. But was obviously forced to say this selling spiel, pushing all their items, specials and the wine club. Lots of rules and demands. We are not allowed to share our wines with each other.he says per SC state law. We had been to 3 other winery's that day and shared wines??? Wierd! My sister lived in North Carolina many years ago...and boy was that the start of it all. I live in Southern California and whenever I have a party everyone raves and says WHERE did you get this wine? Sorry (smile) you can only get it through Duplin Winery in North Carolina. I have turned so many people on to this wine. It is not like anything you have ever had. I told them if they ever want a sales rep in california I am their girl, as sales is my profession. Duplin can only handle what they have and cannot take on another market! Darn. I will preface this review with a couple statements. I am not the world's most knowledgeable wine connoisseur. However, I have done extensive wine tasting in California, Virginia, and North Carolina. I also worked at a vineyard as tasting room staff, so I do have some basis upon which I base my wine knowledge. If you are looking for more "traditional" wine, you are not going to be pleased with the experience here. Duplin is a sweet wine company. Their dry wines still run around 1.5% residual sugar (at least on the menu during our tasting). I will say some of the wines I tasted are quite good. The wines I tasted were sweet without being syrupy and still had other flavors present in the wine. Their tasting is compromised of 10 wines that they preselect out of their numerous wines (I want to say there may be around 40 wines in total). You can do the deluxe tasting which comes with crackers, dip, and a glass of wine after the tasting. I will say we did the one with the dip, and the dip was delicious. It was their pineapple habanero salsa mixed with a cream cheese, and it was amazing. Their tasting is nicely arranged in a way that makes sense to sample the wines. The tasting room staff is very friendly, and they are good about presenting information and trying to give a full experience. My only gripe here is that while the staff is obviously trained, some of the things they are trained on are just plain wrong. I enjoy having knowledgeable tasting room staff when I do a wine tasting, but some of the information they provide is incorrect. If the winery is going to take time to train its staff, it should ensure that all the information about the wine, wine processes, and designations is correct. If you enjoy sweet wines, I would recommend the tasting for sure. It was a pleasant experience, the wines were good, the cost is budget friendly, and it's a nice diversion while at the beach. read more

Just when I was about to give up on sweet wines, Duplin saves the day! A while ago a coworker gave me a bottle of the Scuppernog Blush and really liked it. So when I came to the area for vacation I decided to check out the winery and buy a bottle of two. It wasn't what I expected. It was in such a busy area with heavy traffic, not that bothered me. I had to remind myself that this was a tourist area. I go in and I immediately saw the cheap prices of the wine tasting. So of course I chose the deluxe for 10 bucks, it includes tasting of 10 wines, cheese, crackers, free souvenir wine glass, and a full glass with a wine of your choice! I was like hell yeah! I knew I was going to be there at least an hour cause they gave me one of those vibrating things when it was my turn. I told my husband and my 17 year old to go kick rocks, spend some time at the two malls down the street or check out Alligator Adventure which was next door. And they were relieved that I dismissed them. This was "me" time! The wait was about 15 minutes. We were all seated in one of the rooms and it had to been at least 20 of us. I loved all of the wines. Duplin is perfect for me because I'm not much of a drinker, but I like it cause it's smooth and doesn't leave a bitter or funny after taste. I also want to mention that they also let underage drinkers to the wine tasting, they will have the non alcoholic wine. But I highly recommend this reasonable wine tasting. Friendly environment. Great customer service. If you're in Myrtle Beach it's worth the 10 bucks! Had I known I would've done that everyday! No lie! read more

Lady checking us in for a tasting wasn't friendly and was time challenged. Fifteen minutes late from the time she gave us. Came for a tasting - oops, totally sales oriented. Half way through - still selling. Now he's busy flirting with two young ladies. My seat is behind a cooler in the corner - nobody should be seated in the corner - right Patrick? Duplin, don't sell this seat in Dave's Bar. Can't make this up - he ran low on the first bottle and short poured me. Open another bottle! Rushed. By the time I take a smell - he's asking if I like it. Offered a second pour of burgundy and ignored my wife. Not good. Nobody ignores Lisa. Really sweet wines but that's ok. If I could give this place 10 stars I would! My bf & I came down to NMB for a few day get away. We had some rain & cooler than expected temps & decided to try a wine tasting... having done too many wine tastings in my time I was not too excited. Apparently I have never really been to a REAL wine tasting before- this was wine tasting & entertainment!! Best 10$ I have ever spent!!!! The tasting was so FUN & entertaining.. all the wines were great and the tasting included a free glass of wine & souvenir glass! The winery had a live band after the tasting so we were able to enjoy our free glass of wine with live entertainment! I wish I lived closer because their wine club is such a steal.. includes 3 bottles of wine every quarter and free wine tasting for you & a friend/ one free glass of wine every day... Friendly atmosphere. Great wine! Most of them are sweet wines. Highly recommend having them mix 1/2 white sangria wine and 1/2 red sangria wine into a glass for you. The sweetzers are yummy as well. People are nice and friendly. Cute inexpensive gifts. However if you don't like sickeningly sweet wine made out of muscadine grapes don't waste your money. First - this is a sweet wine company. This is not your full bodied, aged fine wine. As long as you have that expectation going in, this place is a home run. Super friendly staff - they offer a wine tasting complete with a sample of 10 wines, crackers and dip, and a full glass of your choice (including their awesome wine slushes) They have a wine club - actually a decent deal as well. Their gift shop is fairly nice as well - outdoor rocking chairs, live music. Definitely a nice place to hang out for a bit. I truly appreciated the tasting - not just for the wine but John ( our wine expert) was very knowledgeable. A lot of detail that I really appreciated. Only change I would make is that if someone joins the club - they should get their tasting fee back - since they are free in the club. We did join but that would have been a nice plus - and likely lead to more members. Overall - a great place. read more

Took the wife there for her birthday to do a wine tasting and despite the long wait time (1 hr) they provide plenty of options to fill the time. Live music on the back patio and chairs all around the outside for you to sit and enjoy some wine while waiting. Came for a glass or two of wine while enjoying some live music on a Saturday afternoon. The wine is a little too sweet for my liking, but I did have a nice time. My friend explains it as "drinking a jolly rancher". No thank you lol. Not my cup of tea - or in this case wine. The location is fine, right off 17 up by barefoot landing. Good for tourists when they come down to visit. On the plus side I didn't notice the busy road, with the live music playing. So that was good. read more
