This is my second time doing business with Durable through AAA, and I'm really pleased, for the second time. Eric is extremely personable and solicitous, and helped me over the phone to feel better about having to put another alternator in my car. I KNEW positively that my car was dead because of the alternator, but I had a new alternator put in EXACTLY 1 year ago by Meineke of Waterbury (Meineke ripped me off TWICE; don't go there!). I feel confident that with Durable, with their 24 month warranty, this won't be happening to me again a year from now. Hopefully I'll have a new car before then anyway. So all in all, I feel really good about having Durable fix my car: having peace of mind and trust is everything to me. I had a flat tire and this is the company sent by roadside assistance. Wow wow wow. Service was speedy and the mechanic was so personable and friendly. I'm so thankful that he was sent to help. He gave tips to ensure I was safe-since my spare is a donut. And even knew nearby places that were currently open since it was midday on a Sunday. So very helpful. read more

Getting a tow is the only thing I would recommend. Don't have them work on your vehicle cuz they will over charge you. A simple starter change out costs no more than $300 at any mechanic and they wacked me over $600 for it. Told them what the issue was and they still charged me a diag fee. When I called and spoke to the manager he was tripping over himself trying to come up with excuses. Never will go back again for mechanical work read more

This was my first time trying out Durable. I am sooo happy I made this choice and I'm thinking they will be my go-to mechanics for my car! I spent loads of money at Subaru for years beyond the warranty date until I got work done here. For the longest time I was having issues with my left front headlight going out. Of course I trusted what the dealership said and I thought I just needed my headlight changed a lot. Well nope that was not the case! All those years of spending money! A local place told me that this needed real electric attention. So I asked my father who referred me here as they are verified through AAA. I dealt with Eric who is A+ at customer service. I've never met a more accommodating mechanic. He provided reasonable pricing and actually explains what they were doing on my vehicle. He was able to resolve my problem for way less than others and I got a discount due to having AAA. He made sure to explain the problem was fixed with high quality and not the cheapest way. Also, their tech was able to find out what this rattling noise was in my car that had been there for yearsssss that no one else believed me about! I was like OMG I'm not crazy finally someone found the issue! Come to find out some belts that go unnoticed required replacement! No more sound... yay I get to listen to my music in peace lol !! They accept all forms of payments AND Eric waited for me beyond the shops closing because I work further away. They also have a secure drop off for overnight purposes. Last month through triple a I had my car towed by Durable Radiator to Reynolds Subaru in Old Lyme for a recall issue. Unfortunately, we had a $200 pair of sunglasses that were left in the vehicle stolen. I spoke with both owners and they were not too caring. They said they would look in to it but never got back to me. While I'm not accusing anyone in particular but the fact is the glasses were missing after doing business with both these companies. I told triple a that going forward never dispatch Durable Radiator to tow my vehicle and I will never patronize Reynolds Subaru again. Just wanted to remind those that read this not to leave anything in their car that's being towed or left at a Dealership! read more

My starter went on my car and since this shop was on the AAA approved list and they were also the company of the tow truck, I decided to just have them do the repair for convenience. It took a long time, but I expected that as a walk-in. They kept me posted on the diagnosis and repair status and were apologetic for the wait. My 24-year-old daughter's vehicle broke down on I-84 while traveling by herself to Hanover, NH to attend her 2-year-delayed college graduation. AAA towed her to Durable Automotive in Westbury where she was immediately welcomed and comforted by Ray, Eric, and their cordial staff. Visibly shaken and with no means of transportation to proceed the additional 3+ hours to her graduation, Ray and his team immediately moved into action. They arranged for a rental car and then called to assure me that all was well with my daughter. TERRIBLE AUTO BODY AND DOES NOT HONOR LIFETIME GUARANTEE!! Originally brought my car in for an accident 8 years ago (front bumper, head light covers, quarter panel and door) and was given a "lifetime" guarantee. I had to bring it back FOUR times within a year to have it repainted and fixed correctly (first time the paint didn't match, second time there were two full hand prints in the clear coat, third time they put the head light cover on wrong so it scraped all the paint off the front area under it and the fourth I don't recall... like three isn't enough? lol). Last summer the clear coat started to peel on the door raised emblem because during the original fix the autobody "specialist" was too lazy to take off the emblem and door molding... aka paint it the correct way. I brought it back for the lifetime warranty, Dave Jr. said no problem, took off the emblem, ordered a new emblem and repainted the lower area. I never put the new emblem back on, drove the car for a couple weeks and then put it back into 7 months of winter storage. I took it out, brought it to a Auto detailer whom used to do Auto body and he pointed out that the clear coat was again peeling on the door molding (above the emblem) and the paint chipping on the front bumper shouldn't happen because it was not prepped correctly. I brought it BACK to durable, however this time Dave Sr. was there to "help" me out. He came out, looked at the car and turned to me and said "GET THE #$%& OUT OF HERE!!" I replied "excuse me??" and got "GET THE #$%#@ out of here! I am not TOUCHING your car again! WHO knows what would happen if I have to pull off that door molding and repaint the door! I'm not getting into that!" I then reminded him of the lifetime guarantee and he once again told me to "get the @#$# out of here". This went back and fourth for 10 minutes, I presumed he thought I had the car repainted AGAIN within the last few years, which I had not (swear on my grandmothers grave), so I reassured him of that which he then called me a liar, walked away from me, and repeated "Get the $%# out of here!". I guess they will help you out and honor their warranty if it does not trouble them to much! I am now seeking help from the Better Business Bureau and possible legal action. read more

Called AAA for a tow and they sent these guys over to my house. The first driver said my car was too low to the ground and just took off, even though they had towed that same car once before. They then sent a 2nd driver to my house who asked for the registration, which in all the times I've had to have a vehicle towed, has never happened. I've never had a tow truck driver ever ask me for that. I called a competing wrecker and got my car towed within an hour. Stay away from these guys. read more

I have since submitted a review with the better business bureau. Th responses from durable are nonsense. They ccondradict themselves with every response to my reviews. First thy say i drove the car until it died. Wrong. I had it towed in on Monday. Next they say the fluid drained out completely on Sunday when the incident happened. But after towing it in on Monday they put a battery in and sent me on my way. They test drove it and if the internal head gasket went in a matter of seconds as they stated why did they have no trouble when they test drove it. No . The initial damage was minor and due to them ignoring the obvious ( like wow maybe she is right. The branch did do damage. Maybe we should check it out) they initially putting a battery and sent me back out on the road get stuck yet again. By the time wed came there was more damage and this was caused by neglecting the problem. Good thing i did not try any highway driving. Because this could have been fatal to myself or another driver. In one of their last responses they actually say i did not take the-car in until after i hit the branch. Actually they say " she hit the branch first. " I am usually not in the habit of going to a body shop before an accident. Bottom line if the car was assessed properly on Monday my costs and repairs would not have been so costly. read more
