It doesn't take much to make me happy when I order food 35 minutes before a restaurant closes. I also work in the restaurant industry so I understand the frustration of having a customer come in right before you close when you've worked a long day and just want to go home and rest. I ordered two 3 piece $5 chicken boxes. 1 breast, 2 thighs in each box. And surprisingly that's what I got. I don't care if the food is luke warm or cold just as long as I get what I requested. In Georgia, the Popeyes restaurants practically close down an hour before they're supposed to and the employees are incredibly rude and disrespectful. I placed an online order in Fairburn, Georgia 1 hour before they closed and I was met with a disrespectful (take a guess, extremely lazy culture) employee at the drive thru that told me they had no more chicken and I needed to go through the app to get a refund. The drive through employee actually called me a b*tch when I tried to argue with them and the manager backed them up when I requested to speak with them. I guess Popeyes in Georgia got tired of me submitting complaints about the incompetence of their restaurants so they completely ignored my complaint and never refunded me for the food I didn't receive. I absolutely despise Popeyes for having virtually no customer support so this was a gamble that finally paid off. read more

Went there yesterday for lunch (11/11/2025), and it was clean and not too busy, but I broke my rule, went around 3 pm when they run out of the fresh crispy chicken. Got a crispy chicken sandwich, and 3 crispy strips meals with sides. The sides were good, but like in lethal weapon, the F you at the drive through. All chicken was kind of soggy and lightly breaded (not even close to crispy) chicken on the outside. It doesn't make sense for them to keep a full stock of crispy chicken between 2-4, so I get it... just don't go then. The place is new and nice, lots of parking, right next to del taco, which I had already mobile ordered today, but the Popeyes was nice and busy. Made me want to go in and get a crispy 2 piece, but I already had too much food. Next time, hopefully. Yet to have their " crispy " chicken yet. One more try right a lunch time should do it. If I wouldn't have gotten the mango freeze and had it been anything other than amazing I would have prob left 2 stars instead of 3. Luckily the mango freeze was absolutely amazing and it softened the blow of the other parts of the order not being correct. We ordered two of the I piece shrimp meals, one with Mac and cheese and the other one with mashed potatoes , then we ordered two strawberry cream pies and an extra of both the Mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes. I also ordered friend pickles and then a ranch and two cocktail sauces. And then of course the freeze. The shrimp boxes were what they were suppose to be but the busicites that were in them were a little less fresh than they normally are....the ended up not having the friend locked on the menu anymore and refunded that to me but they still sent 2 ranch dipping sauces and then one cocktail sauce. I ended up dipping my shrimp in ketchup and decided not to make a big deal out of it. Then we opened the two extra sides and both of them were Mac and cheese, so I ended up not having the mashed potatoes either. I still wasn't toooo upset. Until I opened the pies for us and there was one apple and one strawberry. I love apple pie don't get me wrong but I saw that selection and left it blank and ordered 2 of the other bc that's what we both wanted. We were sort of excited about ordering this tonight. We really wanted seafood but when I looked it up Popeyes pulled up - finding no other places close by we chose that we haven't ever went wrong before when ordering from Popeyes so ordering the shrimp should be just as tasty.... Our first Popeyes experience in the Triangle was a good one. Where we're from, Atlanta, Popeyes is popular and almost has a cult status among several of my friends. There are three Popeyes locations in Durham: (1) This one on Guess Road, just off I-85 exit 175; (2) South Square, just off 15-501; and (3) The Streets at Southpoint shopping mall. The drive-thru at this Popeyes is almost always busy when we drive past it after a Costco run. People love Popeyes fried chicken. Can't blame them. It's delicious. We did Uber Eats for this Popeyes and had them deliver to our Chapel Hill home. This Guess Road location isn't as close to Chapel Hill as the other Durham locations, but this is what pulled up on the Uber Eats app at the time. Surprisingly, even after the food had been sitting in a takeout bag for, I estimate, 30-60 minutes (our driver had one stop before us), everything tasted good. The chicken obviously wasn't as hot and crispy as if we'd eaten at the restaurant, but it was still quite tasty, so were the sides and the spicy chicken sandwich we got. The only thing that was bad was the Coke that came with our sandwich combo. The drink got watered down from the melted ice, so I poured it out. We got a 12-piece family meal, spicy, with mixed dark and white meat chicken. The meal came with two sides - we chose mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw - and six biscuits for $32.39. The spicy chicken sandwich cost $4.79 plus regular fries at $2.27 and the small fountain drink at $2.15. After taxes, the total cost for the meal was $44.72, ordered using the Uber app. I like Kentucky Fried Chicken, but I think Popeyes' chicken is crispier and tastier than KFC's Original Recipe fried chicken, in general. This chicken was yummy and hit the spot. Popeyes' sides are satisfying too and I appreciated the large sizes that came with the 12-piece family meal. The biscuits were both a tad too dry and salty, but still, I had no problem downing them. As for the sandwich - which was very popular and made headlines when it debuted in August 2019 - I enjoyed it as well. The sandwich wasn't as big as I remembered, but I wasn't complaining. I'd order it again. It was very comparable to the Chick-fil-A spicy chicken sandwich. I continue to give the edge to CFA in the Chicken Sandwich Wars. The fries got a little soft from sitting, but we still demolished them. No flavor lost from the food delivery, just texture. Our driver, Wendy, got us our meal on time and she was nice. So, if you've never had Popeyes delivered via Uber Eats before, chalk this up as one good experience. Recommended. read more

I love this location. I've had 1 issue and it wasn't their fault it was really mine because I didn't read the menu correctly. I called the store and explained the issue and the Assistant manager was a huge help. She insisted on fixing it even though it was my fault, this says a lot! There is a great leadership team and an amazing employees. I normally go in the night after work and I've always got hot food and fresh . They are my favorite location ! I'm big on customer service and how I get treated and will advocate for them. Advice to anyone that has an issue with this location, give them a chance to fix an issue. Everyone has made errors in their lifetime it's not fair that we hold them to a higher standard. Be understanding to certain situations. Before calling corporate to complain call the store first. Popeyes Lousiana Kitchen has lost its Louisiana roots as it has expanded nationwide. Popeyes has adapted to serving regional-style foods. I went into the Guess Rd., Durham drive-through today for two orders of 6 spicy chicken wings bagged separately to share an order with my neighbor 15 mi to home. We were both disappointed. Our order of 6 chicken wings was 3 wings cut into two parts each to make 6 pieces. Many restaurants customarily deceive customers by dividing chicken wings into two parts nowadays. I resent this deceptive technique. Spicy flavor has become hot sauce doused over the chicken wings as if hot sauce is the only spice available. I'm not happy with Popeyes' new additions to its menu. Well.....the flavor is spot-on. Everything else could stand some significant improvement!!! The wings are small, the thighs are small, the legs are small, the (are you seeing a pattern here) breast are small, the biscuits are small (compared to Bojangles biscuits). My last four visits were anything BUT pleasant. I prefer thighs over legs, this establishment DOES NOT ALLOW SUBSTITUTIONS!!! The last time I was there I once again asked for legs to be substituted with thighs, shift mgr Josephine rather snottily looked directly at me and said "I remember you" and cancelled the substitution. The pieces were comparitevly small prompting me to ask for an additional wing AND thigh as compensation for the puny sizes. Again, a hard NO from Ms. mgr.. the final result.....I paid over $20 for eight pieces of undersized chicken, no biscuits (which I did ask for), and a limit on the Louisiana hot sauce packets (Josephine intervened AGAIN), and ALL the aforementioned included a "senior citizen discount of 10%". Oh.....by-the-way they give Veterans a whopping 5% discount. Thank you for your service very little!?!? I had the most frustrating experience at Popeyes on (11/15/2024) around 11:50am to 12:30pm at the 2723 Guess Rd, Durham, NC location, and it was honestly one of the worst service encounters I've ever had. 1. No App Notification - My order was ready for 20 MINUTES, and not once did the app notify me. I had to sit and refresh my app multiple times while my food just sat there getting cold. 2. Ignored at Pickup Counter - When I finally went to the "online pickup" counter, I was completely ignored for 10 minutes by both the staff AND the manager. No one bothered to acknowledge me. 3. Cold Food - After raising my voice just to get attention, I was told the food on the shelf was mine. Too bad it was already cold! 4. Charging for Water?! - To make matters worse, I asked for a simple cup of water due to the inconvenience of my cold food and was told it would cost me $1! Are you serious?! I couldn't even get a complimentary cup of water for my trouble. 5. Rude Manager - The manager, who ignored me for nearly 10 minutes, then responded in a disrespectful tone, saying "a cup is $1, we're busy here." Really? That was his answer to everything? No apology, no resolution. I told the manager I'd be leaving reviews on major platforms if this wasn't addressed, and his response was basically a dismissive "good luck" or "great." What a joke... and in front of everyone ! . Maybe he was right, because Corporate only offered a "side order" of app points for this epic fail. Popeyes clearly doesn't care about its customers. My son wanted Popeye's chicken, & because I was going to an appointment, I agreed to pick it up on the way home. Most people might say we should have known better, but we actually didn't & did try to call & find out how ordering ahead worked when the hours didn't fit my schedule of pick up, only to not have anyone answer the call, well needless to say, it didn't end up well for us. My son called ahead around 1pm, I didn't return from my appointment until after 5pm, and went inside to pick up the order, the woman at the counter with no name tag in appearance searched for the order in their system, & could not find it, she stated to me she remembered the order because she fixed the order when it came in, and when no one came in immediately for pick up, she threw it out ($32.00 order). I asked if they could re-make the order, or refund the money? I got responded to with indifference mixed with a tinge of hostility from her now...I asked could I speak with her manager (who herself did bear a name tag), this manager searched for the order & could not find it either, so the first woman (unkind one with no name tag), jumped in & told the manager she threw it out when it was not picked up immediately. Ambiance went out the window. I asked the manager if I could speak with someone about how we get the order or the refund? The first woman who later was asked her name because she wore no tag & was so rude, directed the manager on what she wanted her to do with me, I asked the manager for this woman's name & the manager turned to the woman & said the customer wants to know your name, the rude woman rolled her eyes at me & stated her name to be something later verified not to be as she stated it was, the manager went to the back at my request to get me a number of someone requested to be over her because I was being mistreated & not getting proper information on replacement or refund. No English was being spoken by the manager well enough to understand, & the first woman, was giving me really bad stares & comments, & sharing with her co-workers that she threw the order out. I spoke via phone with someone who identified herself as the district manager, & she explained what we could do to re-order or be refunded the money, which is all I ever asked for. Came here for the famous chicken sandwich with some coworkers last Friday. We made the trip into deep Durham just for this legendary sandwich. We got there around 11:35 so the line wasn't too bad. I ordered the chicken sandwich with the cajun fries and a coleslaw. I noticed they had a mountain of these things in the bags under the heat lamp which might have been the chicken sandwiches? First bite, the chicken sandwich was tasty albeit a bit dry. It definitely wasn't as juicy as a chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-a. Their fries were nice and crunchy and well seasoned. By the time we left, we noticed the drive through line went all the way into the street. I guess people really need that chicken. read more

"Batter-fried fast food on Guess, with Louisiana theme" I remember this chain well from living in Louisiana a decade ago. As of the time this review was written, the restaurant is still fairly new, and there's an officer standing outside still to direct incoming traffic. I'll highlight a few specific points: + Dine-in line (including carry-out) is consistently WAY shorter and easier to get to than the drive-through line. + Staff are very friendly, and facilities are new and clean. + Check out the specials rather than relying just on the main meals. One can get a 3-strip chicken combo with drink for $6.99 or a "surf and turf" which also includes 3-strips of chicken as well as shrimp with drink for $6. All come with a side. They also had a big shrimp box and a jambalaya option. + The chicken, shrimp, fries, and onion rings all have hefty batter around them. Tastes good, but be ready for a bit of grease-overload if you only get fried items. My daughter had the red beans & rice and said it was pretty good. There are other side options too, like green beans. + The "spicy" chicken has a bit of zing, but it's not that spicy. It's less spicy than the Chick-Fil-A spicy chicken sandwich. + Butterfly shrimps still have tails. (Just saying so you don't pop them in your mouth straight-up.) + The biscuits are a bit denser than ones from Bojangles. Taste good, but they are less fluffy. + Kids meal choices are either a leg and one side or a chicken strip and one side. No biscuit. + LOTS of drink choices. If I could leave zero stars, I would. My husband got chicken tenders and his meal was fine. I got popcorn shrimp and a side of red beans and rice. First off, the red beans and rice were missing. We called the store and they told us to come inside. The issue there is we got this delivered through UberEats, and having to go to the restaurant, 20 minutes away, defeats the purpose of having this delivered. However. The real reason I'll never go here again is that they don't de-vein the popcorn shrimp. We complained about that too when we called and were told with no hesitation that they don't de-vein the popcorn shrimp. They only de-vein the butterfly shrimp. So if you order popcorn shrimp, I hope you like poop, because that's what is in a shrimp's vein, that Popeye's purposely does not remove. read more

Those two individuals that are in management are great people and always have awesome customer service. But for my review to be one star is because of one of their up-and-coming managers who is the name of Marvin at this specific location, he is very rude unprofessional and needs to do more work management programming on how to talk to people who do not work under him. Referring to the Popeyes in Durham on guess rd. The food is good most of the time, but they Are usually rude and VERY iffy and skimpy on their sauce. specifically one girl that works here through the drive through who is ALWAYS rude and NEVER asks or gives us our sauce, and when we ask for our sauce she rudely sais "you have to pay" which we don't mind at all but she makes it very difficult in a rude way just because she doesn't give us our sauce.
