We stopped at this BBQ place in London on our drive to the Cumberland Gap. It was a great stop with delicious pork and brisket! The staff was quick and friendly- and they serve three sauces on the table which were all delicious. A hot and mild traditional sauce and a mustard sauce. Pictured below is the brisket lunch special. THE best brisket I've ever had. Hands down, juicy, savory, all the things you'd want a brisket to be. Plus their pulled chicken and pork are also phenomenal. I had heard good things about this place from a couple of people and my wife and I paid out first visit to Durham's today. She had a pulled chicken sandwich and a side of baked apples. I went with the 2-meat combo with brisket and sausage. My sides were potato wedges and coleslaw. The brisket and sausage were both fantastic. The brisket was tender with very nice marbling and a good bark. The potato wedges (a special) were perfect. The coleslaw was a tad dry for me but had a good flavor. I tried a bite of my wife's pulled chicken sandwich and it was delicious as well. I'm not a baked Apple fan but she assures me that they were great! You know that feeling when you get out of your car and can tell you've made the right choice by the smell of enticing BBQ in the air? That's what you get here. This place is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth it. The people here were really friendly and the food was EXCELLENT. I had the brisket and my husband had pulled pork nachos. We split a piece of peanut butter pie and that was delicious too. We were traveling through on our way to Gatlinburg from Indiana and I definitely want to stop back through on our way back! After reading all the reviews of nearby options, we decided to give this place a try. It was dark and hubby was wondering where I was taking him as we turned off the main road. Thank goodness for the bright open sign otherwise we would have driven right by! Friendly staff gave us the rundown. We ordered 3 meats, ribs and roasted chicken were perfectly cooked. Brisket was a little fatty for me, but not for hubby. We chose sides of potato salad, coleslaw, which hubby loved and apple bourbon baked beans. I was worried the beans would be too sweet, but they were yummy. I just wish they would have been a little warmer. Several congenial staff came over to ask how everything was. We were passing through the area and when ever we are someplace new we like to try local food. We read the reviews for this place and knew we had to try it. When we arrived we were greeted by this nicest gentleman who was very helpful in making recommendations. I got the brisket sandwich and my wife got pulled pork nachos. Both of our meals were awesome, the brisket was not too fatty and the smoke flavor was great. Didn't even need their sauce, but had to try it and it did not disappoint. My said her pork had awesome flavor too. Was going to get fries for a side but the guy checking us out suggested the baked beans and boy am I glad I listened, they were great too. I have the privilege of traveling the U.S. and as a foodie I sincerely enjoy trying new experiences. Domiciled in NC, BBQ is as loved as mom, baseball, and apple pie. Durham's hit a home run with this southern gal. The hubby and I both ordered a dinner, which comes with two sides and toast. He chose the ribs while I stayed true to the pulled pork. Between the two of us we also sampled the fries, the apple bourbon beans and the fried apples. The portions were plentiful and will most likely take at least us 3 meals to consume in full. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful on its own so I found it unnecessary to use any of the sauces provided. The ribs were beautifully charred and meaty, but tender enough to be easily pulled from the bone. The fries, just a simple crinkle cut, were as expected and the beans were thick and sweet. But those fried apples y'all - I could seriously just make a meal of those alone. The sweet crunch of apples swimming in a thick compote so delicious I wanted to lick the bowl (maybe I did, maybe I didn't). The sauces I did sample had the taste of fresh ingredients (or at a minimum freshly prepared). Overall, the meals were a wonderful surprise tucked away off the main path. I hope to return before we depart the area to fill up on a few pounds of pork for our freezer read more
