While the patio is dog-friendly, you have to go inside to the bar to order your drinks and food and dogs aren't allowed in there. So, if you're traveling solo with your dog, be aware of this. I just left the car locked and running while I went in to order, put my placard down on a table outside, then went and grabbed the pup from the car. The Caesar Salad with chicken was lovely and had nice, crisp greens - not just the light colored watery lettuce, this had the medium and dark green goodness too. Still a little bland tasting, but it is a nice size and I ate the whole thing. The chicken on top of it was warm and freshly cooked, and absolutely delicious. I shared a piece of chicken and some lettuce with my pup and he likewise approved. It was a warm sunny day, so I ordered a Kentucky Mule to go along with my salad. Staff was a little busy with tables inside (lots of children at one table) so they forgot about my drink sitting on the bar. It came out just after my salad, so I just decided to make it my dessert instead of my appetizer :) Friendly staff and good food. If you're out this way, why not stop in and enjoy for yourself?

Clam Lake Classic!…read more 3.5 stars, but rounding up for the horseradish sauce! Clearly there are some issues with this place, but considering where it is (middle of nowhere and a 20 minute drive to your next best option), I'm willing to look the other way on certain things. First of all, the bar is awesome. There is LOTS of antler themed light fixtures, NRA-themed decor, and even some pro-Trump paraphernalia thrown in to remind you where you are. Aside from that, beer at the bar was cheap and conversation was good. We dined on a Saturday night suckered in by the temptation of smoked prime rib. After some discussion with the chef/owner, we discovered that there was no horseradish sauce in the house. Oh no!! Not to disappoint, the chef jotted off to the connivence across the road to pick some up. He whipped up a great sauce in a jiffy. Sorry, but Prime Rib is nothing without a good horseradish sauce! I loved the subtle smokiness of the meat. It had a great crust, but the cut was very fatty. For $24.95 with soup/salad bar, it was a bit pricey. At 16.95 I would not complain, but I suppose they gotta keep the lights on. For as up-north cool as the bar was, the dining room is pretty terrible. It could definitely stand some remodeling, but I think we all know that's not gonna happen.

I walked up to the bar, was greeted by a woman with a sour look on her face, and ordered a non-alcoholic Bloody Mary. I asked for it to be spicy. I've been ordering these drinks with and without alcohol for about 40 years now: This was the only undrinkable one I've encountered. It tasted like Red Hot on the rocks. I took a couple of sips and had to go throw up in the bathroom. Not kidding. My stomach and mouth were on fire. I'm still sick over an hour later. The two people I was with ordered food and were happy with it. I only had this horrible drink. When the waitress came back a couple of times, my full drink sat in front of me. She didn't ask if something was wrong with it. The second time she came back to the table I told her she could take the drink, that it was not drinkable. She said their mix is hot. Understatement of the year! There aren't a lot of people up north who like things spicy. I, however, do. She was kind enough to leave the full glass and bring a bill for $8.50. I paid it. On the way out, I handed the full drink to the sour faced lady that had originally "greeted" me at the bar. I told her it was so hot that it was undrinkable. No offer of a refund. I told her it was a nice way to spend $8.50. Now I remember why we stopped going here.

There's a lovely patio if the weather is nice. Things that I love about the Bierstube: *Moscow Mules available - properly served in copper mugs. Hell yes! *Great burgers. They're 1/2 lb, and never frozen. Above average fries too. *Cozy atmosphere - lots of warm wood and "lodge" decor. *Super friendly staffers. I've only ever had warm, pleasant service here. *Great fried cheese curds *Old timey slot machine that actually pays out quarters FYI - the Bierstube gets quite popular with boaters and vacationers so it might take a little time to get through a meal if you arrive after big groups. Also - the people watching is great. I saw a group of 8 middle aged peeps order giant Slippery Nipples (Baileys + Butterscotch Schnapps = baaarrrrff) and drink 'em down quite happily. Then a table of old guys played Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines on the jukebox. Good times. Good times.

People travel for several hours to get here, or hey, maybe they're just from a nearby golf course, but when they get here, they can be LOUD. That's OK though. It's entertaining to watch, and you CAN get good draft beer here (including German style beer) along with good wine, and some tasty appetizers and sandwiches. The lighting is warm and not too bright, and the walls are paneled in knotty pine. The staff generally works well together to make sure patrons are taken care of although during crowded times service can take a bit longer. The windows are large and look out onto the deck where seating is available, and just past that you have a great view of the lake. I dig it. And Joanna T is right, the slot machine is way cool.
