The OG drive thru coffee kings have made their way to STL. Nothing better than a Kicker to start off the day.

Just got our STL Coffee Pass and this was our first place to try. Super cute coffee and plant shop…read more A few places to sit on the shaded porch as well as main level and lower level shop. Not sure if there's an upstairs but definitely a fun place. Love when my mocha latte has a blended chocolate flavor and balanced with the coffee. They had a nice pastry assortment as well that we will have to try next time!

When you enter, it's very small but very well put together décor wise. Each area had signs that discouraged movement of their furniture and had its own kind of theme. I was meeting up with a friend and her daughter and unfortunately did not realize they had the typical café hours (closed at 2pm) so my visit was very quick (30 minutes) and I had to rush my conversation. I ordered an iced Monstera Mint latte and chocolate coffee cake slice. When the barista called up my order, I repeated my order asking if it's mine (they don't use a name system) and apparently *I* mispronounced MONSTERA because she turned her back and said within earshot to her coworker how I did not pronounce it correctly and why do people say it incorrectly. I am not a big plant person so excuse me for not knowing how every single plant name is pronounced. I know people vent at work, but it made me feel uncomfortable the rest of my visit, so I was glad it was almost time to leave before they closed. Vent after customers leave if you have to.... Anyways, my MONSTER-AH mint latte was good, but the chocolate coffee cake was a bit too dry for me. And service could have been a bit more professional in my opinion.

We were welcomed in and got in line to place our order. The case of pastries is fun to look at! We ordered and sat down to wait. Our coffee and food were good, but having been there before, we knew they would be. What I enjoy just as much as the menu items, is looking at the beautiful clothing that some of the women wear. I don't know all the correct words for the traditional clothing they wear and don't want to be disrespectful and use the wrong words! But some of them are absolutely gorgeous! Some of the men also wear their traditional clothing. I make an effort to not look too much, but some of the garments are hard to look away from! Go for the coffee and pastries, and enjoy seeing the traditional garments!

Lots of seating. The parking lot directly in front was significantly smaller than the one it was attached to, and completely full. There was a food truck and a shaved ice place, so we had to park further away by the Chuck E. Cheese. Not too bad of a walk, though, just something to note for folks who can't go long distances. I also didn't expect to spend $10 on the croissant and personally wouldn't spend that again. Coffee syrups were 1883 brand, and my preferred is house made syrup (especially for a $7 latte). However, almost anything is better than Torani! Still a nice treat to try for a first timer. I'll be back if I'm ever in the area again!

I had an oatmilk latte, which was very good. I also had a blueberry muffin, of which they get delivered by a local bakery. Normally when blueberry muffins have lemon flavor it is extremely out of balanced. The lemon did not over power the blueberries. Their staff are nice and inviting. They currently do not have an app or website to have your beverages made ahead of time but they mentioned it is something they are looking into. TLDR: Worth going to. Parking might be interesting. Be warned there is a risk of a wait for their busy morning crowd.

I'm not sure what this place even is, despite having dined there yesterday. It serves breakfast,…read morelunch and dinner, and doesn't seem to specialize in anything in particular. It's in a weirdly large building that looks like a place where you'd go to get lasik surgery. I visited after a run on a day where the heat index was like 109, so I didn't spend that much time inside, just enough to drip sweat all over the front counter and the floor in the vestibule. We sat outside in an area that seems like the place where you'd pull up and unload your luggage at a hotel. A member of our group says she once attended some sort of Xmas pop-up in the basement here where you were charged a cover and then expected to pay for drinks and pizza, so... uh, caveat emptor. We ordered at the little bar up front, but I'm not sure if that's also the case if you dine inside. These places always flip out when there's umpteen different people ordering separately, because they only have but so many of those numbers you set on the table so they know where to bring your food. It ended up not being an issue with us, because who else was going to engage in al fresco dining during a heat advisory? This place serves pizza, but it didn't look that good in the few photos I saw. Granted, food often looks like crap in Yelp photos. Also, there's an emphasis on '90s-style health food, organic ingredients and what have you. There's a Salmon BLT that's featured prominently that seemed like it might be the thing to get, but I didn't know enough about this place to be ordering fish, and I'd already been meaning to eat a bacon cheeseburger for the past several days. Maybe next time. There is no bacon cheeseburger as a separate menu item unto itself. I figured I might just order a cheeseburger and add bacon, but I'm not sure if that's an option, and this wasn't a regular cheeseburger. It had a few different weird cheeses on it, spinach and maybe some other things. Then I saw the Dill-bert, which seemed like it might be really good. It has, among other things, dill Havarti cheese (whatever that is), avocado, and of course, bacon. It's served on a wheat bun, which, whatever. Its name is not a tribute to Scott Adams, as far as I know, but this is Ballwin. The Dill-bert did not disappoint. No Diddy. The beef comes from one of those special farms where the cows are all given names as if they were human beings, groomed on a daily basis by trafficking victims and read bedtime stories, and you really can taste the difference. It's a better quality meat. It's also expertly prepared. It's well-seasoned and cooked until it develops a nice char on the exterior. It was a bit more done on the inside than I require, but that may have been unavoidable. For a side, there was an option of tater tots cooked in an air fryer, like if your mom was feeling lazy. I didn't see any french fries, but maybe I'm going blind. I ordered a side salad, which is my thing these days. Sometimes they're surprisingly good, and a french fry is a french fry, unless you're at McDonald's. This one was pretty good, but it was definitely on the health-food side of things--very fresh and lightly but sufficiently dressed with something citrus-y and not too oily. Oh, and I was duped into purchasing a whiskey sour slushie. It just seemed like it would be so refreshing. It must have cost nearly as much as my meal, given what my bill came out to. They must think I'm a sucker. Did they receive advance notice of my visit? It did kinda hit the spot, and I probably got drunker than I would have otherwise, because I was suffering from a minor heatstroke, so there was that.

The croissant was fluffy and flakey, and the warm ham and cheese brought comfort to my belly. They were out of the marmalade that comes with it so i wasn't able to taste that. I couldn't let my camera eat first. We actually ordered to go but there was a bit of a wait. There was I believe a mom and son in front of us who ordered drinks as well and were waiting a bit so I ate the croissant and it was delicious. Not too buttery, the cream inside was very light with a hint of sweetness which I enjoyed and the slices of strawberry balanced it all out. After I ate that, our drinks were ready to pick up. I ordered a matcha latte the first visit and wasn't too impressed. There was no sweetener added and the straws back then were paper and dissolved in my drink. I'm glad they have the plastic straws now so I could fully enjoy and the sweetener was the perfect amount. Not too sweet! I spoke with the barista asking if she enjoyed the tiramisu matcha latte and she admitted she doesn't drink matcha so she couldn't say which I appreciated her honesty instead of trying to upsell me. She was so sweet and did let me know a lot of customers do enjoy it. I'm glad I opted for the matcha again because it made me so happy with how delicious it was! (A MILLION times better than Starbucks!) Every time we go this place is so busy. There is a line but it's never too long and there's never an empty case of pastries. There's so much variety if you're feeling sweet or savory. I do want to try some of their cake sometime. Maybe next time!
