I'm not a doughnut person, so for me to give 5 stars says a lot. Their bacon jalapeno cheese fritters are awesome. Their doughnut dough is fresh and has a very good taste / texture. I like most of the dougnuts they make but would prefer more chocolate options with a little less sugar. It's rare that I eat doughnuts, but when I do this is the only place I will buy doughnuts from. Coworkers have brought in dunkin, Krispy creme, and other doughnuts and I always have the same reaction. I take one bite, and end up throwing the rest away. okay, so I finally got the fam to go here a couple of weekends ago and it was everything I had hoped it would be! Butter-Maple-Bacon doughnut! All in One? AWESOME! the kids loved the tiger tails - they were ginormous! The DM anniversary doughnut with chocolate and banana with Dulce de leche filling would bring Elvis back from the dead. This is one of the most unusual donut places around these days from their various varieties, which all seem to be yummy and fresh everyday. Everything from scratch and as local and organic as possible. The pastries (because they are not what you expect of a doughnut) change per season according to availability of ingredients. its the only reason to come to atlanta, especially the northern 'burbs. all doughnuts are fresh, delicious, even artistic. sometimes the staff is not quite as warm as i prefer, but i am usually overexcited when i am in the store. i recommend everything they make, none are better than others. make sure to peak through the kitchens windows and wave your approval. read more

Its mostly chain stores and restaurants out in the far northern suburbs where I work, so its a blessing to find an indy shop like this with high-quality goods. If the funky name doesn't get your attention, the sweet smack they sell will jolt you awake. Try the maple bacon (bacon wrapped dough drizzled with maple syrup) or the nutella twist, or heck, try just about anything on offer for the day and you'll have a happy morning. I actually don't go for sugary pastries much, my doughnut of choice usually being your standard coffee-dipping cake doughnut. Thankfully, they do a damn fine cake doughnut here, maybe the best I've ever had, and the coffee to go with it is damn fine too, as Agent Dale Cooper would happily report to Diane. read more

I love their selection, and their ever changing menu. They are creative, but you better get there early, because they will run out. You see a featured item...get it! They are the perfect local business, and it's a nice place to get doughnuts! Some of the clientele are snooty, so if you're not into that scene, better take it to go. Dutch Monkey is literally 1 mile from my home, and it's difficult not to end up there every weekend morning for fresh yummy donuts. Especially when I am a fan of their's on facebook and every morning I see their posts as to what is made fresh that morning! I have only allowed myself to go 2-3 times, but each time I am impressed. I love donuts and pastries. I think my favorite would have to be either the coffee buttercream or key lime bismarck. Both are amazing! There are so many I haven't tried though. If you go, don't be in a hurry as there is typically a bit of a line on weekend mornings. And yes, they are more expensive than donuts you might get from other "chain" locations, but they are better, unique, and made fresh each morning. It's a great place to treat yourself on a Saturday or Sunday morning. read more

When I heard there was a new doughnut bakery in town I knew I had to check it out. My mom and I came in before they closed on a Sunday. The display was honestly a bit lacking and not what I expected a hip doughnut shop to look like. I pictured beautifully arranged, perfectly frosted tasty treats in a case or creatively displayed but saw only a few types of doughnuts on plates. What can I say...as an avid baker myself I have high expectations :) Although, I must say the doughnuts tasted AMAZING. I had a maple bar & a cinnamon twist (not in one sitting of course!) The maple bar was probably the best one I've ever tasted and I've tasted a great many. If you love doughnuts that aren't Krispy Kreme sweet like I do I would definitely check this place out just go early so you can choose from all the flavors. My wife was craving a quality donut so we decided to go to Dutch Monkey after reading online resume of owners. The shop is cute, and when you approach the counter are instantly wowed by the beauty of the doughnuts and how they are displayed and decorated. We ordered three doughnuts (as they are quite large) to share - glazed twist, white cream filled and Boston cream filled and a small coffee. The server was super nice and accommodating. That's the good things, now the rest of the story. The doughnuts were terrible; tasted stale and bland. Instead of a light and fluffy raised yeast doughnut they tasted like dry, stale bread - the texture of these doughnuts were all wrong. They were heavy as well; so disappointing. They were priced high, but would have been worth it if they had tasted as good as they looked; however, since they did not, way over priced!! We will not be back. read more

These doughnuts....are just okay. They are certainly beautiful! But I don't feel they taste lives up to their looks. The cake portion of it is not very soft, and it's also pretty dry. There are other doughnut shops around South Forsyth/North Fulton that I would drive a little further to if I was really craving doughnuts. But when teh kids want to stop for one after school, this place is good enough. read more

This is NOT your average doughnut shop! Dutch Monkey Doughnuts is what happens when a couple of pastry chefs get together with a dream of excellent doughnuts. They have their daily staples...all of which are good, but along with that some very imaginative additions that rotate. What a great selection of unique doughnuts! They have everything from tiramisu to lemon meringue flavors. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted but ended up getting the passion fruit doughnut. It was delicious! I prefer a lighter dough and although they are a little pricey I would recommend giving this place a try for a special treat. read more
