Maybe okay if you like sloppy work, went in to get some shoes re-glued and was told it would take 2 weeks, no problem. I go in after 2 weeks to pickup my shoes and the guy tells me he would need another day, then quickly switched up and said he just needed 2 hours to get my shoes finished up, on top of the past two weeks he had my shoes for. Unsure why he couldn't have been done within the 2 week time frame he gave me but I brushed it off. Needless to say after the 2 hours pass I go to pickup my shoes and I received the sloppiest job known to man. Glue stains all over the uppers and he also repainted the midsole since he got glue marks all over the black(Paint didn't match up to the original paint, he left the black Glossy). This is the first time I used Fox Valley Shoe Repair. From the comments on here I wasn't expecting anything grand but when I got my shoes back they looked great! As you can tell in the first picture the heel of my shoe was non existent on one side so much to the point where it was wearing down the wood part of the heel. The second picture is the same shoe after repair. I had the heel replaced & they fixed it up a bit to make it even and also my shoes polished because the leather was being worn down. Fox Valley Shoe Repair: 1036 Fox Valley Center Aurora, IL 60504 630-898-1919 Repair of athletic shoes, fine shoes, Birkenstocks, orthopedics, handbags, leather belts, luggage, boots, & jackets. Time to complete work varies by type of work & item. Small repairs while you shop or wait, larger repairs can take from a couple of days to two weeks, depending on stocking of materials. I took a 2006 pair or size 14 Merrell "World Leader" shoes into the shop for repair. Initial condition of shoes: The leather upper was in good condition, well-polished and intact, as were the inserts and laces. The soles had a quarter-sized hole worn through on the left shoe, and a similar hole nearly worn through on the right. The left shoe leather upper had also come un-stitched from the sole for about 4-5" around the toe at the front of the shoe. These shoes are a great favorite of mine, looking great when freshly polished, and in a classic style that Merrell no longer manufactures. They originally cost $100.00 and lasted for nearly three years before needing work. The repair: *Note: I had previously taken a pair of Merrell shoes of similar construction but differing style to this shop for the same repairs. The repairs at that time were structurally sound, but weren't able to preserve the looks of the shoes. The shoes are still serviceable for work and very casual use today.* I requested that the toe be re-stitched to the sole, and that new rubber soles be glued on. I also specifically requested that the work be geared toward preserving the original look of the shoes as closely as possible. The result: This pair of shoes turned out beautifully. They're not completely perfect, but I don't believe perfection is possible, because the upper sole structure that holds the stitching to the leather uppers was somewhat damaged. For the condition of the shoes I brought in, I am extremely happy with the result. The total cost to repair the stitching and re-sole the shoes was $50.00. *Note: the shop requires half the cost of repairs over $20.00 in advance, and half upon pickup. Repairs $20.00 or under are required to be full paid in advance.* Time to repair: The repair took 1.5 weeks from the time I brought the shoes in. The shop owner originally ordered soles identical to those used on my older pair of Merrell "World Piece" shoes. Unfortunately, those soles didn't fit. A second pair of soles had to be ordered, same brand, a bit different style and heavier-duty. The soles finally used are the same soles the shop uses to repair military and police boots, designed for long-duration and comfort with extensive walking. The shop did call me to arrange a later pickup date of my repaired shoes in order to accommodate shipping of the new soles. When I arrived on the morning of the pickup, the shop was still working on the shoes, and I had to wait an additional 45 minutes. The shop compensated me for the wait by kindly including a spare pair of color & style-matching shoe laces at no additional cost. The wait was completely worth it in my opinion. I am most pleased with the result. Tip: Bring in shoes for repair as clean and as well-polished / shined as you are able to. This visually states that you care about the appearance of the shoe. If you bring in a pair of salt-crusted, bedraggled, and stained old shoes, don't expect the shop to take you as seriously as if you made it completely obvious that you care about the appearance of your shoes by doing this. State clearly that you want the work to look as good as possible as well. If you tell the shop something like "just make them wearable," that can be interpreted as caring about function over fashion. FIRST THE LOCATION ON THE YELP! MAP IS INCORRECT. The location is in the Fox Valley Mall, near door 2. The shop is right near the mall entrance, so you can't miss it. The counter looks simple with the sides filled with shoe maintenance products, such as shoe polish, along with a huge selection of shoe laces. Behind the counter is filled with completed shoes. A lady came in with a purse with a broken zipper. Thus, more than just a shoe repair place. So the man working behind the counter was super thoughtful when I brought him my Skechers sandal (strap to be resewn) Calvin Klein and Clark's shoes ( both pairs required new soles). I believe, from my research, the soles are USA made. They ask for a down payment for over $50 worth of work. I paid the guy, really unsure about paying the down payment for work not completed. He gave me a ticket, a receipt, and a window of two weeks. I did not mind the wait. Unsure about rush orders, sorry :) I came to pick up the shoes and they looked AMAZING. He ensured the shoes looked brand new, with no scuff marks. I swear they look like they just came off the store self. They fit pretty well, too. The clarks are just as comfy, the CK's feel good. Wow, I am beyond impressed with Fox Valley Shoe repair. I had a pair of black dress shoes that I loved and had for 8 years without any repair (they were really beat up). I was about to give them up but thought about trying to repair them. They were really beat up so I knew it would cost me around $50 to get them fixed. At first I was a little hesitant because that $50 could have gone towards a really nice new pair, but I liked these shoes so much I thought I would give it a try. The lady at the counter was extremely nice and helpful and stated that it would be $45 to fix the shoes and to come back a week later. Exactly one week later I came back and the shoes were ready. They looked brand new, I couldn't believe it. Fox Valley Shoe Repair did a great job and I definitely feel confident bringing any pair of shoes there from now on. Great results! read more

Took a pair of stiletto heels to be repaired and was qute disappointed with the results. The spot where the heel was damaged is clearly visible; there is a noticeable lump where the repair was made. I had taken an identical pair in last summer for the same repair, and the heels looked like new; not so this time. This repair looks like something I could have done myself. Clearly the standards have dropped since the last repair. I am on the hunt for a new shoemaker as I will most definitely be taking my business elsewhere! read more

I brought my medical show orthodic into this shop because I needed new padding and new leather on my custom medical shoe orthodic with a lift because the leather came unglued. They were able to squeeze me in and get the repair done in a couple of days because i didn't have another pair to use in the interim. Which was greatly appreciated. Results: initially I was very pleased with the work they had done because they felt if not perfect then very similar to what they should feel like until the first time I used it to exercise doing the only thing that I can do which is walk. Within the first half mile my arch began to hurt and I figured maybe I just needed to wear them in a little. Then shortly after that my whole foot began to hurt I was beginning to worry. Because by the time I was done with my two mile walk my ankle and leg were in immense pain. I got home and tried to work on the arches but I was only able to fix the problem slightly now each time I walk or try to use my Orthotic to do basic things my legs and my hips begin to hurt. I am so upset at the fact that they ruined these because I was able to do so much more before I brought it in to be repaired I used to love my orthodic. All I can do is hope that my insurance will pay for a new pair. If you need your shoes for medical purposes I recommend you find a different shop. read more

Good price slow turnaround a bit of a wait to find my shoes but good job and a mediocre location in the mall.

I brought a pair of Uggs to have new soles put in because they were worn. They originally told me 35.00 but when I brought the boots back it was now 40.00. Whatever. I paid the 40 bucks and when I got my boots back they were crooked. When I wear them my feel slump to the outer edge of the boots. When you look at the soles you can see they are crooked. I did not notice this till I got home and tried to wear them. I tried them on, walked in my house a few steps and noticed how uncomfortable they were. I brought them back to the shop and they treated my like an idiot. He said I wore them out by walking on them........Um.....I walked a few steps in my house. I didnt even wear them outside. He said he would shave the bottoms of them but how ghetto is that? I could have done that. He just kept talling me its my fault for how I walk. I am never going here again. I have taken shoes here for a long time but these must be new owners or something. Dont go. read more
