    Italian hoagie

We were in the Parkesburg area and saw Dyers on yelp had large number of 5 star reviews, so we stopped in for dinner. It is run by an incredibly kind and patient family between the kids and parents. We ordered with the dyers cryer sauce, Italian hoagie, vegetarian quesadilla, and pirogies. The food came out so quick and every bit was tasty. We wanted to leave a nice tip but their receipt didn't have an option for that. The young lady that rang us up told us the best thing we can do is promise to come back.

Let me start by saying I'm from philly so I know a good cheesesteak! This is by far the best in the area it has all the flavors. The juices and the wiz wit just Oozes from this hoagie. If I can I try and get a hoagie to see if the franchise can incorporate other ingredients into the hoagie which dyers did an amazing job with both. Only thing it's needs is to be a little neater maybe a little bit of meat off the top and should be good to go. But hey who doesn't love a hefty cheesesteak!

I'm sorry Dyers, but your milkshakes made us very sick, for THREE DAYS, so I cannot give a positive review. I've sat on this review since last spring when we went for the first time, and ordered hoagies, wings, and milkshakes to go. Someone had mentioned the proprietors were not friendly to non-locals, so I was on the lookout for that, but the woman was actually very friendly to us. (We went a little before standard lunch time on a weekday and when we entered, we were the only people there.) We asked questions about the sizes of things and she was very patient and helpful about it. So, you can see, we were already getting a good feeling, and wanted to have a 5-star experience like so many others said they had. She saw we were waiting for the food, but wanted it to go, so while we waited, she served us the milkshakes early, which we started drinking right there. In retrospect, there was an off-putting smell when I went to take a sip (this is how I know for sure it was the milkshakes), but it was faint enough for me to wonder if it was really there or not, since the taste was okay. Also, the chocolate smell was stronger than that yogurty smell of slightly-turned milk, so I thought it could have just been something else in the kitchen whose smell somehow got in my milkshake. I tend to try to suspend disbelief and give the benefit of the doubt as much as I can, which is what I did in that moment, which I now really regret. The hoagies were ok, but nothing as good as the places in the city or near our neck of the 'burbs, where they really make an art of it. My husband was not impressed with the wings. Again, they were okay, but he had read all the raves on Yelp and he was really let down from what the reviews claimed it would taste like. Maybe they were off because it was before lunch time and they hadn't really gotten things moving yet? I would be really willing to give the place another try if it hadn't been for the rotten milkshakes. I remember I got food poisoning from a restaurant as a kid, and my mom deduced what caused it by ruling out everything that everyone else ate. Since my husband had wings and I did not, and since his hoagie was roast beef and mine was turkey, we're pretty sure that the common denominator was the chocolate shakes, which was the only common thing we both ate all day or night. Plus, like I said, I thought I smelled something funny and I should have gone with my gut and spoken up the minute I smelled it. My husband and I were sick for 3 days after those milkshakes. THREE DAYS of typical food poisoning symptoms, shooting pains in your stomach, and the bathroom business that comes with it. YUK! We missed out on going to dinner at a friend's house (which we'd been planning for months) because I could not even get off the couch. Honestly, I could barely speak to our friend on the phone I felt so ill. I have had food poisoning before, but never did it ever last more than 24 hours, but this had me out for three days, so the milk must have been really turned. Still trying to give the benefit of the doubt, and trying to allow enough time to calm down about it, I waited and waited to try to bring myself to give an honest positive review, or to give them another try. But I just can't. Dyers family, PLEASE check your milk and ice cream for expiry dates! Customers, you may want to smell your milkshakes before taking a sip!

We ordered a dozen wings and a turkey and cheese sub. Both were very good and as expected. Definitely would recommend Dyers Deli.

I'd driven past it countless times over the last few years but either didn't have enough time to stop or couldn't convince anyone else to stop with me. During my Lancaster Adventure Day, though, all of that changed. I purchased a Single Scoop ticket online ahead of time for $16.75 and reserved the very first time slot of the day at 10am. I figured a late-summer Thursday morning would be the sweet spot, and it turned out to be a great decision. It was busy enough that the place felt lively but not so crowded that I had to wait for every exhibit. Parking was plentiful, and I somehow managed to snag a spot right in front of the GIANT cow out front. Honestly, my day was already off to a fantastic start! The only hiccup of the visit came during check-in. Even though I'd already purchased my ticket online, I still had to wait in the same line as everyone buying gift shop items, purchasing admission and asking questions. Since there were only a two employees working both the registers and admissions, the line moved a little slower than I expected. If I could change one thing, it would be creating a separate express check-in line for folks who already have tickets. Once I finally made it inside, though, everything became easy peasy! The exhibits are completely self-guided, so you can wander at your own pace learning how Turkey Hill makes its ice cream and iced tea while playing with interactive displays along the way. One of my favorite parts was creating my own virtual ice cream flavor, complete with custom packaging. I also wanted to film my own Turkey Hill commercial, but those stations stayed busy the entire time I was there, so that'll have to wait until another visit. Naturally, I made a beeline for the tea sampling station. As someone who appreciates sugar-free options, I was thrilled to find both Zero Sugar Sweet Tea and Zero Sugar Fruit Punch available to sample. Both were fantastic! Then it was time for the part we'd all been waiting for...unlimited ice cream samples. One thing I really appreciated is that they weren't tiny little "blink and it's gone" samples. You picked two flavors, and they served actual scoops in a bowl. For an attraction centered around ice cream, that felt exactly right. My only tiny complaint? Wooden popsicle sticks instead of spoons. They definitely got the job done, but they made eating melting ice cream a little more awkward than it needed to be. Still...free and unlimited ice cream? I'm not about to complain too loudly! I spent about an hour wandering through the exhibits, playing with the interactive displays and enjoying the air conditioning on a hot August morning before making one final stop in the gift shop. Prices there were about what you'd expect for a tourist attraction, but there were plenty of fun souvenirs if you're looking to bring a little Turkey Hill home with you. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend visiting the Turkey Hill Experience at least once. I don't know that it's somewhere I'd return over and over again, but it was a fun, interactive way to spend an hour learning something new, eating entirely acceptable quantities of free ice cream and escaping the August heat. That sounds like a pretty successful adventure day to me!

The interactive exhibits were engaging, and the kids loved learning how ice cream is made and creating their own virtual flavors. The highlight was definitely sampling the different ice cream flavors and making our own ice cream creations.
