The food here is always great. We usually get their bacon, egg, and cheese or sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches on a bagel when we visit here. Bagels are always great quality. The baked goods are awesome and their prices are relatively fair. My only gripe is that the staff needs to be a little more attentive when it comes to people's orders. The last few times I went in they got something on our order wrong. I've gone here for years& today was such a bad experience. I ordered 4 bagels 2 BLT and 2 BEC They butchered the entire order!!!! &that's ok people make mistakes! 4.5 stars... There must be something special about the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn because the best bagels I've ever had come out of the area. 5 star bagel is definitely up there. The styling from the outside of Dyker Park looks more like a steakhouse than a bagel spot but this classiness just adds to their charm. In addition to bagels (of which they have some unique options like blueberry and french toast) they also have delicious looking desserts, sandwiches, and much more. Sadly they don't have tables to stay and eat but that's not enough to bring their rating down. Of all the bagel places I tried out, Dyker Beach had the best and friendliest service. Though their bagels are near perfect, the interior was lighter and more airy than most other bagels I've had. This is a gem located in brooklyn! It is one of my favorite breakfast places! It is open 24hrs so the bagels are always fresh and delicious. They just recently started selling rainbow bagels! I've frequented this place for many years with tons of great sandwiches and bagels, but within the past year or so it's taken a dive in quality. I see the signs about the increase in prices due to eggs rising in cost, but that doesn't concern me as much, .75c when you figure the average breakfast sandwich is already going to cost you $4-5 isn't the end of the world. But when you get home to crack it open and find a kaiser roll with barely one egg and a single slice of ham, you have to wonder why you just paid extra. I don't know if it's financial difficulty or the staff just half-assing it, but the last order I got is going to be the last for awhile. I don't mind the staff being a little less than courteous, and I don't mind the crowds, but if I'm going to get aggravated as well as wait on line, and pay extra for a sandwich, it should at least be worth the time, price and hassle. To add insult to injury, the ice coffee was more ice than coffee, and that wasn't cheap either. Time to take my business elsewhere. read more

The beauty of Bay Ridge is little Mom'n'Pop joints like this one. Before they renovated and expanded, this was by far my favorite bagel place: it had great Nova Lox, a wild selection of bagels and deli sandwiches, cigs and beer, and open twenty-four hours. What's not to love? With the move into their new space right next door, the atmosphere appears much more sterile, though the food is more or less the same tasty fare. It seems a shame with such a vast remodeling that they didn't include any dining tables or chairs. The staff is always quite nice (minus the grouchy old guy, but that could just be me), and whether you need a Rueben or a veggie option, you're sure to find something delectable. But today when I called I was told by an angry woman that they don't deliver this far and that I must have called a different bagel place. I asked her since when is less than a mile too far for delivery, she told me that their delivery guy is on a bike. So what? I really have to upgrade them to 5 stars, I do not give out 5 stars easy. I had to wait and try it a few more times. But the neighborhood of Dyker Heights has been touched and favored by the food fairy. It seems all of the food in Dyker Heights is awesome! I think it is because it is a real neighborhood not taken over by transplants with no respect for Brooklyn history but a real Brooklyn neighborhood. I have been here maybe 4 times since I first reviewed it and it is just as good. The bagels and pastries are real Brooklyn perfection! For me they are my favorite bagels and I have had hundreds of bagels over the years. My Brooklyn born husband who is more of a foodie than me says H and H is still his favorite but these are his second favorite. But they have more than just bagels here and unlike most places that specialize in one thing everything here is just as good as the bagels. 5 stars for having the whole package! Before I go out for the night or once the night has ended I'll usually skip the diner and head here. They just make really good sandwiches that always hit the spot. The guys are friendly. It can get backed up sometimes during peak hours (morning rush, late night bar crowd) but they do a good job of moving people along. My go to spot when I need something good to go. This was the worst bagel I've ever had. Ordered a dry cinnamon raisin bagel that was absolutely spongy and totally unlike any bagel-shop bagel. I used to go to dyker bagels weekly. I will never go back after my girlfriend and I ordered 2 sandwiches. I gave the cashier a $50 bill that I got from a chase ATM. He stated he ran the bill through "his machine" and stated the bill was fake. I looked at the bill through the light and saw the security strip and presented it to the cashier and asked him to look at the security strip. He stated to me that the bill looked real and he saw the strip but he couldn't accept it. He told me to go to the ATM in the store and get cash to pay for my purchase. How convenient. Now instead of the bill being 17.99, I had to spend 22.99. When I presented him a $20 bill from the ATM machine, I asked him why he didn't run that bill through his machine. He said to me "what's my problem?" I pointed to his surveillance system and stated you accused me of passing you a fake bill on your camera that's clearly getting my face, run the bill I got from the ATM through the machine to make sure it's legit. When I also said to him "I'm a customer here weekly and this is how your treat me," he stated to me "There are so many people how am I going to remember ?"
