Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

This time instead of exploring their packaged snack products I thought about how much room we have left in our car and flying it home so I decided against it. I did buy 3 of their small cup size Blue Bell dark chocolate ice cream- for all of us but the cashier gave only one spoon. It tasted so good I had hubs go get me a large size one since I didn't eat a normal lunch and it was past 5 pm. While I waited in the car with the grandpup. I wanted to find some Bucee items for Doc since she's been our road trip driver plus made all the arrangements for hotels, tickets to parks, dinner show, etc. We all got different things: hubs got small bags of jerky, Doc got her favorite brisket sandwich to share with her Frenchie, a sausage on a stick and 3 peach cobblers for each of us to try. I like the large amount of clean restroom stalls plus soap. The cone of warmed sugary pecans and cinnamon bites were a sweet snack- finally gone from the first Buc-ee's a week ago. Before leaving Doc had us take a selfie and a nice gentleman also took a couple for us too.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but... my last visit here was less than satisfactory. We grabbed lunch on our way to Houston. Our lunch consisted of brisket sandwich, chicken tenders & fries, and the three meat sandwich. I'm pretty sure their meat is not a true cut of brisket. Its consistency is like mush, and not like muscle fibers. There was nothing lean brisket vs fatty brisket. The brisket had holes throughout, making it look even more like an ultra processed deli meat or even lab grown. I was disgusted, to say the least. They also have ZERO options for people conscious of the ingredient lists. We bought popcorn and the bag was open at the bottom. I opted the top and it was super stale. I realized it was open on the bottom and the store game me a hard time about exchanging it. It's pretty clear the sealing process failed for this bag. We won't be shopping here anymore, nor will we eat their food. But if you're visiting Texas and come across one, it's a fun stop to pass time.

Ha!!!!! I have not ever dealt with a situation like this before so I am a little disgusted that it dropped the ball and how they handled their end is a joke. Walmart is a joke. I ordered a new tablet. Yeah. No big deal, right? WRONG I bought my last tablet there. An Onn 12" tablet. It was beautiful. No problems until it broke. I mean shattered but it was our fault. So we bought another one....this time we went online to make our purchase because we lost our only vehicle on Christmas eve and this is the only way to pick up items we need. Ordered items from Walmart two years ago at Christmas time and did not have one problem but I was in Houston and dealing with another location. Of course i have issues with my local store. We place our order after dropping over $200 for it and it said it would take a couple of days. No problem. So today is the fourth day. I asked my fiance to check his email for any updates.... We received an email from Walmart starting they had cancelled my order. No reasons given. No department to contact. No list of available options for me to follow up on. oh and they included that my money wouldn't be available to me for 7 - 10 business days so buying another one anywhere else was not an option for me either!!!!!!

On this visit, I was looking for a mix of random items: Italian dressing, travel-sized products, milk, and lawn and leaf bags. While I found most of what I needed, I noticed the Italian dressing on the shelf was expired, so I'd recommend checking expiration dates! That is something I sometimes forget to do when I'm in a hurry. My assumption is that it is post Christmas (12/28) so maybe they were waiting for a new shipment to arrive. It was the only one left on the shelf. On the bright side, I was able to snag some post Christmas clearance items, like Christmas cards, which was a nice bonus. Overall, it was a typical Walmart visit, with a few highs and lows. Nothing spectacular, but it gets the job done when I'm in a pinch.
